This article offers a genologic analysis of the printed dedicational texts contained in the popular novels by Remigiusz Mróz. Considering the main aspects, i.e. structural, linguistic-stylistic, and pragmatic, of this genre makes it possible to identify both the conventional elements, that refer to the genre tradition, and the unconventional ones. The purpose of the investigation is therefore to observe concrete textual realizations, and in consequence, by way of generalization, to specify certain genre features of the contemporary printed dedication and draw conclusions concerning the genologic status of the discussed forms of communication. It turns out that most of the genre modifications in the contemporary printed dedication are determined by the changes in the pragmatic aspect of the genre. The analysis of the dedicational texts leads to two main conclusions. First, the dynamics of communication processes and the variability of social and cultural language behaviours changed the communicative purpose of dedication. The communicative intent is not so much the very act of offering the addressee the literary work and the desire to endear oneself to them by it, as creating an image of the sender of the message and the desire to gain sympathy of the witness of this act of offering, the reader. Second, printed dedications published in the contemporary popular novels are realizations of an alternating genre pattern.

W artykule poddano genologicznej analizie drukowane teksty dedykacyjne zawarte w powieściach popularnych Remigiusza Mroza. Uwzględnienie głównych aspektów gatunku, tzn. strukturalnego, językowo-stylistycznego i pragmatycznego, daje możliwość zidentyfikowania zarówno elementów konwencjonalnych, nawiązujących do tradycji gatunku, jak i tych nieszablonowych. Celem badawczym jest więc tu obserwacja konkretnych realizacji tekstowych, co w konsekwencji, w drodze uogólnień, umożliwia wyznaczenie pewnych cech gatunkowych współczesnej dedykacji drukowanej, a następnie prowadzi do wniosków dotyczących genologicznego statusu omawianych form wypowiedzi. Okazuje się, że najwięcej modyfikacji gatunkowych we współczesnej dedykacji drukowanej jest podyktowanych zmianami dotyczącymi pragmatycznego aspektu gatunku. Analiza tekstów dedykacyjnych prowadzi do dwóch głównych wniosków. Po pierwsze, dynamika procesów komunikacyjnych oraz zmienność społecznych i kulturowych zachowań językowych doprowadziły do zmiany przeznaczenia komunikacyjnego dedykacji. Intencją komunikacyjną jest nie tyle sam akt ofiarowania adresatowi dzieła literackiego i tym samym chęć przypodobania się jego osobie, ile wykreowanie obrazu nadawcy komunikatu i chęć zyskania sympatii świadka ofiarodawczego aktu, czyli czytelnika. Po drugie, zamieszczane we współczesnych powieściach popularnych dedykacje drukowane stanowią realizację alternacyjnego wzorca gatunkowego.

The text constitutes an overview and arranges various models of classification of media genres. The author depicts understanding of the notion of media genre and systematizes knowledge on various typologies (division into informative and journalistic genres, border genres, popular genres or division of genres based on the medium). She also presents the distinction of the genre and the media format. At the same time, the author describes two views on the genres in intra-genre and inter-genre plane, based on the two methodologies of Maria Wojtak and Bożena Witosz. The linguistic genology provides an overview of genre classification with multidimensional, open and blurred patterns of their assignment. The author is convinced that in order to analyse media texts, one should have historical knowledge on clear divisions of the genres and a methodological perspective which would allow comprehension of the complex genological specifics.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest apel jasnogórski traktowany jako gatunek w formie kolekcji, którą tworzą: pieśń, modlitwa, rozważanie, błogosławieństwo. Na początku omówiona została struktura gatunkową apelu, ze zwróceniem uwagi zarówno na wzorzec kanoniczny, jak i jego modyfikacje. Niezwykle interesująco prezentuje się aspekt pragmatyczny ze względu na skomplikowane relacje nadawczo-odbiorcze oraz złożony potencjał illokucyjny. Można tu bowiem mówić o „rozwarstwieniu” nadawcy i niejednorodnym adresacie. Analizowane przeze mnie teksty reprezentują styl religijny, zatem do głównych wyznaczników stylistycznych można zaliczyć: hieratyczność, formuliczność, metaforyczność i obecność terminologii religijnej. W aspekcie kognitywnym zwraca uwagę chrześcijański i narodowy punkt widzenia, a także kategoria czasu liturgicznego.

The article touches upon the appeal from Jasna Góra, which has been treated as a collection genre including a hymn, a prayer, a sermon and a blessing. At first the author discusses the genre structure of the appeal and focuses on both the canon model and its alternations which determine the identity of the structural model. Special attention has been paid to the delimitation frame, features of a homily and the prayer segment as well as their interplay. The pragmatic aspect is very interesting, especially the complex sender-receiver relations, the effect of the presence of dialogue, a variety of people and a wealth of speech acts. The analysed texts represent the religious style whose most important features are: formulaic discourse, special terminology, metaphors, schematic character. In the cognitive aspect we observe the Christian (especially Roman Catholic) and national point of view. Also liturgical time is a very important category.

The aim of the article is presentation of writing activity of Polish women at the turn of the 19th and 20th century, which covered not only knowledge of various areas of life - “unscientific knowledge”, but also “scientific knowledge” comprising diverse, intensely advancing scientific disciplines. In the first part of the article, the author presents stages of education that is the preparation of women for popularizing activity, while in the second part she makes preliminary classification of popular science literature because of subject matter and genre forms. The author indicates thematic and genre groups, by specifying adequate work examples (titles), taken from 19th century bibliographic catalogues. She assimilated paraliterary works (didactic and moralizing novels, novels of manners, historical novels as well as fictionalized biographies of famous scholars) to genres popularizing scientific knowledge. Scientific monographs, lectures, readings, and novels make up a separate group. The author notes that genre patterns of popular science literature came to Poland from Western Europe and initially were in nature of translations and excerpts of texts with Polish commentary and paraphrases. Over time, original works speaking about Polish scientific discoveries and inventions began to arise.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie działalności pisarskiej i oświatowej polskich kobiet na przełomie XIX i XX wieku, która obejmowała nie tylko wiedzę z zakresu różnych dziedzin życia, tj. „wiedzę nienaukową”, ale także „wiedzę naukową” z rozmaitych obszarów intensywnie rozwijających się wtedy dyscyplin naukowych. W części pierwszej autorka przedstawia etapy wykształcenia, czyli merytoryczne przygotowanie kobiet do działalności popularyzatorskiej, zaś w części drugiej dokonuje wstępnej klasyfikacji piśmiennictwa popularnonaukowego ze względu na tematykę oraz formy gatunkowe, podając odpowiednie przykłady utworów (tytuły), zaczerpnięte z dziewiętnastowiecznych katalogów bibliograficznych. Do gatunków popularyzujących wiedzę naukową autorka zalicza teksty paraliterackie: powiastki i powieści o tematyce dydaktycznej i umoralniającej, powieści obyczajowe, powieści historyczne, a także fabularyzowane biografie sławnych ludzi. Oddzielną grupę stanowią monografie popularnonaukowe (będące często kryptopodręcznikami), pogadanki, odczyty, opowiadania i tzw. „obrazki” o tematyce naukowej (najczęściej przyrodniczej). Autorka zauważa, iż gatunkowe wzorce literatury popularnonaukowej przybyły do Polski z Europy Zachodniej i początkowo miały charakter przekładów oraz wyborów tekstów z polskimi komentarzami i parafraz; stopniowo jednak zaczęły powstawać dzieła oryginalne mówiące o polskich wynalazkach naukowych.

Przeprowadzona analiza genologiczna dawnych poradników rolniczych Jakuba Kazimierza Haura prowadzi do kilku spostrzeżeń. U źródeł poradnika leży jeden z podstawowych aktów mowy – rada, porada, powszechnie stosowany w wielu sytuacjach społeczno-komunikacyjnych. Zalążki gatunku pojawiają się pod koniec średniowiecza i wiążą się z literaturą parenetyczną. Choć analiza poradnika rolniczego z perspektywy historycznej jest trudna do opisu z powodu niewyklarowanego w pełni gatunku oraz bardzo zróżnicowanego kontekstu historycznoliterackiego epoki, można uchwycić kilka cech wspólnych i to nie tylko dla poradnika gospodarskiego, ale też innych jego odmian, różniących się właściwie tylko tematyką i słownictwem terminologicznym (intencja użytkowa, wielofunkcyjność, spójna, hierarchiczna struktura tekstu, wielotekstowość, wielostylowość, dialogowy kontakt między nadawcą a odbiorcą, autokreacja nadawcy jako eksperta, podawanie wskazówek w optymalnej wersji, dydaktyzm, perswazyjność). Niektóre z tych cech utrzymają się do współczesnych czasów i zostaną uznane za ważne wyznaczniki gatunku.

The genological analysis of old agricultural guides by Jakub Kazimierz Haur leads to several observations. At the root of the guide is one of the basic speech acts - advice, widely used in communication in many social situations. The foundations of the genre appear in the late Middle Ages and are associated with parenetic literature. Although the analysis of the agricultural guide in historical perspective is difficult to conduct because the genre is not yet fully developed and because of the varied historical and literary context of the epoch, a few generalizations can be made and not only about the agrarian guide, but also about its other varieties, differing actually just in subject areas and terminology (communicative intention, multifunctionality, coherent, hierarchical structure of the text, many kinds of text types, many kinds of styles, dialogical relation between the sender and the receiver, the self-creation of the sender as an expert, giving advice in the optimal version, didacticism, persuasiveness). Some of these features will be continued to modern times and they will considered as important determinants of the genre.

Treścią artykułu jest przedstawienie strategii komunikacyjnych w nagłówkach prasowych o wojnie w Ukrainie w duńskim dzienniku „Politiken”. Badanie dotyczyło 26 nagłówków z dwóch działów tematycznych dziennika. Analiza porównawcza wykazała różnice w strukturze, organizacji informacji, użyciu środków stylistycznych, emotywnych oraz sposobie przedstawienia wojny. Kontrasty wynikają z przynależności tekstów do odmiennych gatunków prasowych: tekstów informacyjnych i publicystycznych. Połączenie obu typów tekstów linkami tworzy wewnętrzny mini-dyskurs i daje pełniejszy obraz przedstawianych wydarzeń.

The aim of the article is to present informative strategies applied in the headlines about the war in Ukraine in the Danish daily “Politiken”. The study covered 26 headlines from two thematic sections of the journal. A comparative analysis has showed differences in the structure and organization of information, the use of stylistic and emotive means, and the way the war is presented. The contrasts result from the fact that the texts belong to different press genres: informational or journalistic texts. Interconnecting them with hyperlinks creates an internal mini-discourse and gives a more complete picture of the presented events.

The subject of a detailed analysis presented in this article is the Unauthorized Autobiography of Kuba Wojewódzki. A thorough review of the collected source material enabled the author to characterize this popular genre and indicate its role in a media space. The genological description draws attention to four aspects of the genre pattern. The regularities or deviations from the canonical pattern perceived in this area deepen the knowledge of contemporary autobiography and allows one to capture what makes it attractive.

W niniejszym artykule przedmiotem szczegółowej analizy jest „Nieautoryzowana autobiografia” Kuby Wojewódzkiego. Wnikliwy ogląd zebranego materiału źródłowego pozwolił scharakteryzować ten popularny dziś gatunek oraz wskazać jego rolę w przestrzeni medialnej. W genologicznym opisie uwaga została zwrócona na cztery aspekty wzorca gatunkowego. Zauważone w tym polu prawidłowości bądź odstępstwa od kanonicznego wzorca pogłębiają wiedzę na temat współczesnej autobiografii oraz pozwalają uchwycić to, co wpływa na jej atrakcyjność.

Video games are a crucial part of contemporary reality. Their popularity has contributed to the appearance of the esports scene, and thus to the emergence of a new media genre: the esports commentary. In this paper I apply Maria Wojtak’s method of genological research to analyze the esports commentary to the game sessions of Counter Strike: Global Offensive. In accordance with the author’s premises I examine four genre aspects. The first is structure, i.e., the delimitative framework as well as particular segments which make up the entire commentary. The next aspect, the pragmatic one, concerns the relationship between the addresser (commentator) and the addressee (Internet user). What is also needed is a description of the cognitive aspect, i.e., subject matter, valuation, and other elements of the genre’s lingual image of the world. The final aspect is the characteristic stylistic traits of the esports commentary, such as its colloquial nature, its emotionality, or its jargon vocabulary. The main conclusion of the paper is that it is suitable to adapt Maria Wojtak’s method to the research into esports commentary as a new media genre.

Gry komputerowe są niezwykle istotnym elementem współczesnej rzeczywistości. Ich popularność przyczyniła się do powstania sceny e-sportowej, a tym samym do zaistnienia nowego gatunku medialnego, jakim jest komentarz e-sportowy. W powyższym artykule ukazuję zastosowanie w analizie komentarza e-sportowego do meczów Counter Strike: Global Offensive metody badań genologicznych autorstwa Marii Wojtak. Zgodnie z założeniami autorki metody analizuję cztery aspekty gatunkowe. Pierwszym z nich jest struktura, a więc rama delimitacyjna oraz poszczególne segmenty, z jakich składa się cały komentarz. Kolejny aspekt, pragmatyczny, dotyczy relacji między nadawcą – komentatorem a odbiorcą – internautą. Dalej konieczny jest opis aspektu poznawczego, czyli tematyki, wartościowania i innych elementów tworzących językowy obraz świata, występujący w danym gatunku. Ostatnim aspektem są cechy stylistyczne charakterystyczne dla komentarza e-sportowego, takie jak potoczność, emocjonalność czy leksyka żargonowa. Główny wniosek płynący z artykułu wskazuje na stosowność zaadaptowania metody Marii Wojtak do badań nad nowym gatunkiem medialnym, jakim jest komentarz e-sportowy.

Notarial contracts are texts containing rich and diverse material, which can be used to describe and interpret many legal, linguistic and genre phenomena. At the beginning of the 19th century various genre phenomena are visible, they are related to the number of contracts concluded and the appearance of new types that are relatively rapidly evolving. The genre functions both in language and beyond, as a dynamic component of human activity, following a variety of conventions that make it a communicative value, also social and cultural, and in a narrower approach: formative and stylistic. Viewed from these different perspectives, it is worth to look at the Łuków contracts from the 19th century, because it can be expected that the resources and realization of texts will be special in the context of their genre. Genological creativity observed in the analysed sources is evidently created by the category of intentionality. The category of intention allows us to see in a new light the conceptualization of particular legal genres as well as the rules for the creation and functioning of their pattern, as we deal with uniform genres in the sense of model potency, and in the evolutionary aspect, marked in the texts by different means of nomination of the same contracts, a new text quality is created.
