The article takes readers to the towns-ghost destroyed in both World Wars. The author re-callas examples of French villages detruit from Picardy and martyr cities: Czech Lidice and French Oradour-sur-Glane. Starting from Schechner’s “as performance” category, the author analyzes how the contemporary meaning of these places is built and with what means they create anti-war performances.

Z dobrej pamięci zrodziła się w 2013 roku idea uwiecznienia postaci skromnego księdza. Społeczny komitet, w skład którego weszli mieszkańcy poznańskiej dzielnicy Junikowo wraz z duszpasterzami miejscowych parafii, postanowili nadać pięknemu dziewiętnastowiecznemu parkowi imię księdza Feliksa Michalskiego. Społeczna zbiórka środków finansowych pozwoliła na postawienie w parku kamienia upamiętniającego pierwszego powojennego junikowskiego proboszcza. Na pomniku umieszczono napis: „KSIĄDZ FELIKS MICHALSKI, 1911-1977, PIERWSZY POWOJENNY JUNIKOWSKI PROBOSZCZ, CHARYZMATYCZNY KAPŁAN, SKROMNY CZŁOWIEK. IN MEMORIAM – MIESZKAŃCY JUNIKOWA”. Uroczystość nadania parkowi imienia księdza Feliksa Michalskiego oraz odsłonięcie pomnika odbyła się 14.06.2014 r. i poprzedziła ją uroczysta msza święta, której przewodniczył ksiądz biskup Zdzisław Fortuniak.

From the good memory of the priest, an idea was born in 2013 to commemorate the character of humble God’s servant. Social comittee which consisted of inhabitants of Junikowo – Poznań’s district – and clergy of local parishes, decided to name a beautiful XIX century park after Reverend Feliks Michalski. Social fundraising allowed placing a stone in the park, which commemorates first postwar parson of Junikowo. The project has been created disinterestedly by MSc Eng Arch Marta Wiktoria Rosada. Monument was sculpted in Lech Henglewski’s Masonry Workshop. The inscription on the monument says: “Reverend Feliks Michalski 1911-1977, first postwar parson of Junikowo, charismatic priest, humble human, in memoriam – residents of Junikowo”. The ceremony of naming the park after Reverend Feliks Michalski, and unveiling of the monument has been held on 14th of June, 2014, and was preceded by a ceremonial holy mass, which was led by bishop Zdzisław Fortuniak.

The article is based on empirical research, one of the elements of which was to verify the knowledge, beliefs and ideas of young Wrocław residents about the Jewish cemeteries located in the city. The subject of the analysis was, first of all, knowledge of their history, importance for local culture and community; ideas about the role of cemeteries in Jewish culture and customs related to death and funeral. An important aspect was also finding out what the place of cemeteries is and how they are perceived in the local community, do they function in the minds of young people and in what way, are they really known to them and are they associated with the Jewish community living here, or rather perceived as places of memory and museum space.
