The identity development takes place during the process of integrating the past to the presence with anticipated future. Additionally, it occurs in ecological context which concerns relations and interactions at the individual, group and institutional levels, as well as changes related to the revitalization of regional cultures, the integration of states into transnational structures or the progressive processes of globalization. In the paper, the Authors mostly pay attention to ecological determinants that influence the process of identity development, which takes place in multicultural environment. The purpose of the paper is to present a new theoretical approach – Theory of Multidimensional Identity (TMI) by Jerzy Nikitorowicz. It is based on the fact that a child is located in a diverse cultural environment under the influence of traditional multiculturalism, having existed for several generations, for example, on the borderland. During different stages of identity development (from the past to the future), three groups of dimensions have been distinguished: dimensions in the context of inherited (given, taken over) identity; dimensions in the context of individually shaped and realised identity and dimensions which are socially determined. This theoretical approach allows for the analysis of dependence and relations between the different stages and dimensions of identity development. It highlights with which stages those three dimensions form the identity system, how it changes, what are the reasons for those changes and modifications.

The migration phenomenon always entails various consequences. There is a large sensitivity and understanding of this phenomenon within the interest and care of the Catholic Church. The current external and internal tendencies creating circumstances leading to isolation of migrants and marginalizing their presence, should be, in accordance with the teaching of the Church, overcome so that everyone, especially the young immigrants, could come to terms with his new environment, new country and culture, so that he will be able to realize his life plans and devote his time to those who constitute his new social network within the Christian community. The Catholic Church in Sweden, among its many initiatives and suggestions, tries, with different effects, to create a suitable climate for young immigrants’ integration anticipating it being the right way of building a Catholic community in a society indoctrinated by environments hostile to culture, history and catholic tradition and of the Catholic Church. The following article is an attempt to present the initiatives of the Catholic Church in Sweden in their efforts to achieve cultural integration of young immigrants with the help of Sveriges Unga Katoliker (Swedish Young Catholics) organization within its own activities and by way of cooperation with parishes and national missions

Standardization of production, reduction of technology costs, and access to information mean that international enterprises compete not only in the fields of their ability to establish relationships with potential customers but also their understanding of the customers’ expectations arising from their cultural conditioning. Being competitive in foreign markets often requires in-depth understanding of other cultures, openness, and ability to function beyond the stereotypes. The capacity to interact effectively with people of different languages and cultural backgrounds is one of the most important skills of a salesperson or a businessperson planning to internationalize their business. Employees aware of cultural differences may substantially improve the company’s international performance. The aim of this paper is to discuss the change in the importance of non-economic factors influencing international competitiveness of companies, with particular reference to intercultural competence. To achieve this aim, the authors analysed both Polish and foreign literature, with emphasis on competitiveness theories. The following paper also presents representative techniques of assessing the above-mentioned competence.

The article highlights the issues of future teachers’ training for an effective cross-cultural interaction and professional work in a multicultural society. The improvement and mass distribution of media, globalization and migration processes, which are characteristic for modern society, determine global trends in the development of education. According to the results of the theoretical analysis the interpretation of the key concepts, namely, the «multicultural competence» and its components, «cultural training», «cultural intelligence» is presented. The factors of formation of multicultural competence and cultural intelligence that allows its bearer to carry out cross-cultural communication effectively are analyzed. The analysis of scientific papers suggests the relevance and practical significance of the formation of a multicultural competence, because the globalization of higher education requires the ability to communicate effectively in a particular situation considering cultural characteristics. The aim of the article is to explore the formation of multicultural competence of the future teachers as a means of an effective cross-cultural interaction in the context of globalization of higher education. The study of theoretical works and everyday practice enabled to conclude the modernity of this idea. The goal of multicultural education is a consolidation of human resources, concepts and ideas, the absence of discrimination in education on any ground. A person with knowledge, with a high level of cultural tolerance, motivated to intercultural interaction and therefore the person who knows how to live successfully in different cultural environments, such a person is able not only to act as a mediator between them, but also to understand his/her native culture at a new level. Although as to the unconscious problems we can talk about different prejudices and stereotypes with regard to the representatives of other cultures, raising the level of anxiety in situations of cross-cultural interaction. Unified, generally accepted theory of multicultural education has not been developed yet, but most researchers refer to the important role of cultural diversity of an educational environment for personal and social development of future teachers, expanding the range of their educational opportunities. The prospects for further research are the development of specific methods of future teachers’ training and the formation of their multicultural competence.
