The subject of the article are the published homilies of Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki written for the celebration of the Annunciation of the Lord. The main goal of the text is to use these homilies as the basis for an elaboration on the value and sanctity of human life as well as propose ways for its protection. The method used is a comparative analysis of published texts. The conclusion drawn from the work indicates that the teaching of the Archbishop of Poznań, by confronting the teaching of the Church with current events, becomes a specific tool for entering into dialogue with contemporary culture thatneeds the preaching of the Gospel of Life.

Przedmiotem artykułu są opublikowane homilie arcybiskupa Stanisława Gądeckiego, z uroczystości Zwiastowania Pańskiego. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie na ich podstawie wartości i świętości życia ludzkiego oraz działań na rzecz jego obrony. Wykorzystana metoda to analiza porównawcza opublikowanych tekstów. Wniosek wypływający z pracy wskazuje, że nauczanie metropolity poznańskiego dzięki konfrontowaniu nauczania Kościoła z aktualnymi wydarzeniami jest konkretnym narzędziem do podjęcia dialogu ze współczesną kulturą, która potrzebuje głoszenia Ewangelii Życia.

W artykule interesują mnie dyskursy obrony „życia” pojmowanego jako wartość, która nie wymaga uzasadnienia i musi być chroniona bezwarunkowo. Na przykładzie wybranych materiałów zgromadzonych podczas badań polskich dyskursów publicznych oraz ruchów społecznych (antyaborcyjnych, ekologicznych i obrony praw człowieka) chciałam zastanowić się, jak w poszczególnych wypadkach definiowane jest życie warte ochrony i jak określane są warunki oraz narzędzia tej ochrony. W analizie odwołuję się między innymi do idei „kruchego życia”, ontologii relacyjnych oraz etyki troski.

In this article, I will discuss discourses on defending “life” as a value that does not require justification and must be unconditionally protected. Using material collected during research on Polish public discourses and social movements (anti-abortion, environmental, and human rights movements), I reflect on how a life worth protecting is defined in individual cases, along with the conditions and tools connected with this protection. In my analysis, I refer to the concept of “fragile life,” relational ontologies, the ethics of care, and other ideas.

Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza najnowszej „Podstawy programowej katechezy Kościoła katolickiego w Polsce” oraz „Programu nauczania religii” w celu odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób dokumenty te uwzględniają w swej treści kwestie związane z zagadnieniem obrony życia nienarodzonych. Autor przedstawia krótką charakterystykę podręczników oraz analizuje je w aspekcie zagadnień z zakresu aborcji. Analizie poddano podręczniki metodyczne nauczania religii dla nauczyciela i dla uczniów, opublikowane przez Wydawnictwo WAM. Są to podręczniki, które cieszą się popularnością i bardzo często sięgają po nie katecheci. W zakończeniu podjęto próbę oceny prezentowanych dokumentów i podręczników oraz zaproponowano katalog wskazań dla autorów kolejnych edycji oraz praktyczne propozycje dla katechetów.

The objective of this article is to analyze the following documents: The Basics of Catholic Church Education in Poland and School Program of Teaching Religious Education in the context of protecting human life from the very beginning. The author presents a brief summary of schoolbooks published by the publishing house WAM and analyzes them in the aspect of abortion. The materials are very popular among Religious Education teachers. The summary attempts to evaluate the discussed documents and books and suggests useful tips for the teachers and the authors of the next editions.

Der Artikel beinhaltet eine Analyse der neuesten "Grundordnung für Katechese der Katholischen Kirche in Polen" sowie des "Lehrplans für Religion" in Berücksichtigung der Fragestellung, wie in diesen Dokumenten die Thematik des Schutzes des ungeborenen Lebens behandelt wird. Dafür wurden die Fachbücher für Religionsunterricht für Lehrer und Schüler des WAM-Verlages einer Analyse unterzogen. Es handelt sich dabei um beliebte Lehrbücher, die sehr oft von den Katecheten verwendet werden. Der Schlussteil versucht, die genannten Dokumente und Lehrbücher zu beurteilen und gibt Hinweise für die Autoren weiterer Buchausgaben und praktische Hinweise für Katecheten.

The problem of life and the reality of the family are closely connected and one can safely say that they are almost inseparable. It is enough to look at the documents of the Second Vatican Council to see that marriage and the family are a deep union of married life and love (Gaudium et Spes 48). St. John Paul II in the encyclical Evangelium Vitae highlights the relationship between the family and the gift of life (EV 92). This publication is dedicated to the pastoral support of marriages and families in respect for life. It consists of several parts in which the author presents successively the value and inviolability of human life, describing the basic environment of human life, that is a family whose mission is the transmission and protection of life. Next, we fi nd a discussion of the mission of the Church, which is called to serve man and family and especially to support the family in the affi rmation of life. The article culminates in the presentation of selected forms and ways of pastoral support for the family, including the word of God, the witness of the spouses’ lives, accompanying spouses and family, and concrete actions the Church undertakes to defend life.

Artykuł zawiera pogłębioną refleksję teologiczną nad treścią encyklik, beatyfikowanego w Niedzielę Miłosierdzia, 1 maja 2011 roku, wielkiego Papieża Polaka, błogosławionego Jana Pawła II. W pierwszym paragrafie wykazano, że program Jego pontyfikatu zawiera przesłanie dwóch programowych encyklik: Redemptor hominis i Dives in misericordia, z którymi w sposób nierozłączny łączy się trzecia, mianowicie encyklika o Duchu Świętym Dominum et Vivificantem. Ojciec Święty akcentuje w ten sposób trynitarny charakter życia chrześcijańskiego, które koncentruje się na paterologicznym, chrystologicznym i pneumatologicznym usposobieniu całego ludu Bożego. Następnie został ukazany wpływ encyklik społecznych Jana Pawła II na systemy polityczne świata, a zwłaszcza upadek komunizmu oraz troskę o solidarność międzyludzką, kreacyjny i zbawczy wymiar pracy, sprawiedliwość i pokój. Kolejny paragraf skoncentrował się na encyklikach dotyczących zbawczego posłannictwa Kościoła, z wyakcentowaniem niezastąpionej roli Eucharystii i inicjatyw ekumenicznych. Konkluzję artykułu stanowi prezentacja życia wiary, nadziei i miłości na wzór Maryi, która doskonale łączy fides et ratio, a naszego Błogosławionego – oddanego całkowicie do dyspozycji Matki Najświętszej (Totus Tuus) – bezustannie upewniała w przekonaniu zaczerpniętym od sług Bożych kard. Augusta Hlonda i kard Stefana Wyszyńskiego, że „zwycięstwo, kiedy przyjdzie, będzie to zwycięstwo przez Maryję”.
