Nowadays, countries and societies are subject to not only threats such as an outbreak of war, but also to so-called non-military threats, caused by nature or human activity. This paper presents the possibilities of using engineering troops as a component of the Armed Forces that is capable of countering non-military threats. The author outlines legal acts related to non-military threats, describes Engineering Troops as a component of the Polish Armed Forces, as well as explaining why it is essential to maintain the capability of the armed forces in peacetime.
