Prezentowany artykuł jest rezultatem poszukiwania odpowiedzi na pytania o to, w jaki sposób można stawać się badaczem terenowym, jakie szanse i niebezpieczeństwa pojawiają się w konsekwencji przyjętej roli badacza terenowego. Autorka stawia pytania, poszukując sposobów poznawania środowisk życia osób starzejących się i starych. Przedstawia specyfikę metodologii badań terenowych, definiuje kategorię środowiska, terenu badań, opisuje proces going native jako rezultat stawania się badaczem terenowym. Na podstawie własnych doświadczeń badawczych pisze o szansach, jakie wynikają z prowadzenia badań terenowych oraz o radzeniu sobie z niebezpieczeństwami, związanymi z koniecznością dokonywania wyborów poznawczych i etycznych w kontekście poznawania światów konstruowanych przez osoby stare.

The presented article is the result of searching for the answer to the following questions: how can one become a field researcher, what opportunities and threats does a job of field researcher create? The author puts the questions while searching for the ways of learning about the living environment of aging people and the elderly. She presents the specifics of methodology of field studies, defines the category of environment and the study area, describes the process of going native as the result of becoming a field researcher. The author, based on the experience gained during research, writes about opportunities that arise out of conducting field studies and about the process of dealing with threats connected with the necessity of making cognitive and ethical choices in the context of learning about the worlds created by the elderly.

Badania dotyczyły pamięci czasów wojny i powojennych. Pamięć tego okresu stanowi ważny komponent życia osób badanych, poprzez który konstytuuje się ich doświadczenie zarówno osobiste, jak i zbiorowe.

This article is an excerpt of biographical research carried out among el- derly people living in rural areas of Beskid Sądecki. The research addressed the memory of the war and post-war times. The memory of this period is an important component of the respondents’ lives, through which their experience, both personal and collective, is constituted.

W Poznaniu żyje ok. 148 tys. seniorów i według prognoz liczba ta będzie systematycznie wzrastała. Współpraca samorządu, organizacji pozarządowych i Kościoła przeciwdziała wykluczeniu społecznemu tej grupy osób i stanowi konieczny warunek, by seniorzy mogli jak najdłużej żyć w swoim środowisku. Polityka senioralna w Poznaniu jest realizowana w obszarach wskazanych przez WHO: budownictwo, budownictwo przestrzeni publicznej, transport, mieszkalnictwo, wsparcie społeczne, aktywizacja zawodowa i społeczna, przeciwdziałanie wykluczeniu, wsparcie społeczne, ochrona zdrowia. Centrum Inicjatyw Senioralnych jako jednostka miejska realizuje projekty na rzecz seniorów i współpracuje z Caritas.

About 148 thousand seniors live in Poznań and according to forecasts, this number will systematically increase. The cooperation of the local government, non-governmental organizations and the Church counteracts the social exclusion of this group of people and is a necessary condition for seniors to live in their environment as long as possible. The senior policy in Poznań is implemented in the areas indicated by the WHO: construction, public space management, transport, housing, social support, professional and social activation, counteracting exclusion, social support, health protection. The Center for Senior Initiatives, as a municipal unit, implements projects for seniors and cooperates with Caritas.
