An Interactive Variety of Medical Case Reports – A New Model of the Case Report Genre The aim of the paper is to present an interactive variety of medical case reports as the basis for a new model of genre which would emphasise individual experience of illness. The article focuses on those elements that make the genre patient-centred, which is illustrated with the help of examples from authentic medical publications. In addition, the meaning of the model to its potential users, in the context of teaching specialised communication as well as the doctor-patient relation are emphasised. The discussion is pre-sented in the light of an ecological approach to language (languaging, see J. N. Jørgensen/K. Juffermans 2001, L. Van Lier 2004).
