Kamil Kuracki, Satisfaction with the support received by parents of children with disabilities and the diversity of parental behaviour towards the child. Interdisciplinary Contexts of Special Pedagogy, no. 26, Poznań 2019. Pp. 191–215. Adam Mickiewicz University Press. ISSN 2300-391X. e-ISSN 2658-283X. DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2019.26.09 Raising, caring and rehabilitation of children with disabilities and developmental disorders is a serious challenge for their parents, because everyday situations associated with fulfilling parental duties generate a lot of various stress factors. Hence, receiving various kinds of social support seems to be an important factor affecting the well-being of parents. Thanks to this form of aid, it is possible to deal with a difficult situation and to reduce the disorder in family life. Moreover, the received support can significantly affect the parent-child relationship. This is particularly important in the context of reducing unfavourable behaviour and to intensify constructive parenting behaviour. The main aim of the study was to recognise the type of aid provided to parents of disabled children and to determine the relationship between the support received by parents and the development of the parent-child relationship. The research group consisted of 66 parents of preschool children with disabilities and 40 parents of children without disabilities. The tools used in the research were: the Parent Behavior Inventory by M.C. Lovejoy, R. Weis, E. O’Hare & E.C. Rubin, the Parent Cognition Scale by J.D. Snarr, A.M.S. Slep & V.P. Grande and the Parents’ Questionnaire by Agnieszka Dłużniewska. The study was conducted according to the correlation model

The relationships between maternal parenting attitudes and preschoolers’ hot and cool executive functions (EF) were examined. Forty-eight children aged 3 to 4 years and their mothers took part in the study. Self-report questionnaire concerning parenting attitudes was obtained from the mothers of children who performed a set of EF tasks. Additionally, both maternal and child verbal ability were controlled. It was found that maternal parenting attitudes were related only to child cool EF. Protecting attitude was positively related to child inhibitory control and autonomy support was negatively related to child set-shifting ability. Further analyses revealed that maternal autonomy support accounted for unique variance in child set-shifting, above and beyond the child’s age. On the other hand, protecting attitude accounted for unique variance in child inhibitory control, above and beyond child verbal ability. The findings provide further evidence for the importance of mother-child relationships in children’s EF development.

This review summarized theoretical explanations on attachment hierarchy. Drawing upon the evolutionary perspective, during emergency situations for self and attachment figures, people activate their behaviors to seek closeness and emotional support toward their attachment figures who are the caregivers in infancy and young childhood and the romantic partner in older childhood and beyond. Although empirical studies use different methods between studies for infants and young children and studies for older children and beyond (observational and self-report methods, respectively), this theoretical idea has been supported consistently from infancy to adulthood. In addition, authors highlighted that attachment hierarchy is a timely research topic in attachment research, and Czech studies have been contributing to the research field. Specifically, authors demonstrated that young adults’ romantic preferences were interdependent with their friend preferences but not with their parental preferences. Czech students’ theses demonstrated unique attachment hierarchies in special populations, employing samples of participants with life-threatening jobs, older adults, and young adults with drug problems. Finally, authors focused on future research directions. There is only a limited number of studies exploring subcategories of attachment hierarchy, roles of friends during the transition from childhood to adulthood, and outcomes of deviation from normative patterns of attachment hierarchy development.

Závěrečné práce českých studentů přinesly zjištění týkající se hierarchie citové vazby u specifických populací s využitím vzorků účastníků vykonávajících vysoce riziková povolání, starších dospělých a mladých drogově závislých dospělých.
