The paper presents information about the Polish media in the Latgale region – an area with the largest concentration of Poles in Latvia. Media of this type operate with the support of, among others, the Polish Senate and various foundations. The beginnings of the Polish-language media in Latgale date back to the late 1990s. In cooperation with different Polish organizations, Polish media in the region (mainly radio and television) activate and integrate the Polish diaspora, as well as provide information about the everyday life of Poles in Latgale. What is more, such media play an important role in popularizing the Polish language and culture.

The archaic model of the ethnic stereotype of The German, that is the image of The German coded in people’s minds and polish culture, paremiology and phraseology, was discussed in this article. The conventional image of The German consists of visions and judgments concerning different spheres of everyday life, psychological sphere and intellectual abilities, social behaviors, culture and also the basic criteria of ethnic groups’ identity which are appearance and language.

W artykule omówiono model archaiczny stereotypu etnicznego Niemca, tj. obraz Niemca zakodowany w ludowym i popularnym obiegu polskiej kultury, paremiologii i frazeologii. Na stereotypowy wizerunek Niemca składają się wyobrażenia i sądy odnoszące się do różnych sfer życia codziennego, sfery psychicznej i predyspozycji intelektualnych, zachowań społecznych, kultury, a także podstawowych kryteriów identyfi kacji grup etnicznych, tj. wyglądu zewnętrznego i języka.

The article is a part of a “two-voice story” – with Magdalena Smoleń-Wawrzusiszyn – about the Lexicon of emblems of Polish culture.The concept of the lexicon was developed at a scientific workshop held in September 2019 at the University of Freiburg in Switzerland in cooperation with The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and the University of Lodz as part of the grant awarded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The article presents a draft of the above mentioned lexicon and the results of the workshop. The author focuses on the glottodidactic dimension of the specific proposals for entries, and discusses the usage of sample exercises, which in a pragmatic perspective will develop and complement the entries.She also poses questions as to the best way of finding the necessary lexicographic material.

Koncepcja Leksykonu emblematów kultury polskiej została opracowana na warsztatach naukowych, które odbyły się we wrześniu 2019 roku na Uniwersytecie Fryburskim w Szwajcarii we współpracy z Katolickim Uniwersytetem Lubelskim Jana Pawła II i Uniwersytetem Łódzkim w ramach grantu przyznanego przez Swiss National Science Foundation.W artykule przedstawione są projekt tytułowego leksykonu i rezultaty warsztatów. Autorka koncentruje się na wymiarze glottodydaktycznym konkretnych propozycji hasłowych, omawia również kwestię zastosowania przykładowych ćwiczeń, które w perspektywie pragmatycznej stanowić mają rozwinięcie i uzupełnienie haseł. Stawia też pytania o najlepszy sposób ekscerpcji materiału leksykograficznego.
