The aim of the paper is to analyse two Spanish greeting formulas derivated from the atelic predicate besar las manos (y los pies) ‘to kiss the hands (and feet)’, which, despite their apparent formal resemblance, came to codify totally opposite socio-pragmatic values. Through the systematic search in epistolary texts until the beginnings of the 20th century we will try to find (i) the socio-pragmatic factors that play the most important role in each type of greeting; (ii) the paradigmatic origin of each formula, and (iii) their sociocultural distribution.

The paper presents the construction (jakoś) mówiąc ‘speaking (in some manner)’, against the background of metatextual expressions which serve the sender to comment on the utterance as it is created. The kind of this commentary depends on the filling of the valency slot opened by the quasi- -adverbial, i.e. on the meaning of the adverbial expression represented by the forms of adverbs (e.g. krótko ‘briefly’, inaczej ‘differently’, delikatniej ‘more subtly’, ściślej ‘more precisely’, wprost ‘bluntly’, ogólnie ‘generally’, szczerze ‘honestly’, poważnie ‘gravely’), adverbial expressions (e.g. z grubsza ‘roughly’, w skrócie ‘in short’, w cudzysłowie ‘in quotes’), the po _-u construction (e.g. po polsku ‘in Polish’, po ludzku ‘humanely’, po prostacku ‘in a boorish way’, po ludowemu ‘the folk way’, po sportowemu ‘the sport way’), and quasi-instrumentals (językiem _ ‘in the _ language’, słowami _ ‘with _ words’, żargonem _ ‘in the _ jargon’). The author shows how adverbials struggle to become independent from mówiąc, and presents their semantic classification based on two clearly separated groups: adverbials which project an evaluation of the communication (e.g. szczerze ‘honestly’, skromnie ‘humbly’, serio ‘seriously’, żartobliwie ‘facetiously’), and adverbials which name operations performed on the communication, i.e. modify its content (e.g. krótko ‘briefly’, ogólnie ‘generally’, precyzyjniej ‘more precisely’) or select a system of symbols (e.g. symbolicznie ‘symbolically’, po ludzku ‘humanely’, brutalnie ‘brutally’, fachowo ‘professionally’, po heglowsku ‘in a Hegelian manner’).

Against the background of crosslinguistic research on the grammaticalization of type nouns in Germanic and Romance languages, this article examines nominal constructions with the Russian rod (‘genus’, ‘genre’, ‘kind’) and tip (‘type’). The study proposes a comprehensive typology of constructions based on their functional-structural properties and semantic characteristics. Generalization of meaning, decrease in semantic substance and compositionality, pragmaticalization and lexicalization concern mainly constructions with rod. Rod is argued to be overall more advanced on the path of desemanticization, conceivably because tip is a relatively recent borrowing and features a more specific meaning. While tip retains its taxonomic meaning in most contexts, constructions with rod are shown to fulfil more diverse functions and to be used predominantly for the purposes of hedging, textual cohesion (anaphoric reference) and indication of variety and quantification.

The following paper describes the microgenetic analysis of the translation process of 'Le Petit Chaperon Rouge' carried out by six students during the Translation Seminar of Scientific and Literary Texts and its Didactics, instructed at the Institute of Research in Education of the University of Veracruz. This article’s purpose is to demonstrate the process which was carried out during the microgenetic analysis, as well as to give an initial report of its results and the advantages that this kind of analysis could represent for the translation teaching-learning process. Furthermore, we describe the computer program called El Espía, which enabled us to explore thoroughly and automatically the students’ translation process, in order to identify learning scenarios and carried out a microgenetic analysis.

In the present article the subjectification process is being discussed in relation to the concept of interactional dynamics. It is suggested that to encode various semantic-pragmatic profiles can lead to changes at the level of communicative behavior patterns, which, for their part, are dominated by a particular order of socio-cultural conventionalization. The scope of conversational markers or nominal forms of address (NFA), which are submitted to analysis in the present study, indicates that the routinizing language use, together with an explicit grammatical manifestation, covers areas that appear to be semantically and pragmatically important in a given speaking community.

Starting from a number of specific case studies, we propose to  illustrate some recent approaches in contrastive linguistics involving French. These studies concern the verb on the one hand, the adverb on the other. The analysis is corpus-based and deals with the pair  French/English. Concerning the verbs, we focus on the visual  perception verbs and the link between perception and cognition  through the verbal complement structure. Our contribution will stress the importanceof the notion of construction and the lexical  specificities of each language under study. As to the adverbs, we will focus on the evolution of adverbs of epistemic modality towards  discursive and pragmatic markers (actually vs. actuellement and in  fact vs. en fait, de fait and au fait). The phenomena in question imply various processes of grammatization and pragmaticalization.

W niniejszym artykule, odwołując się do analiz kilku wybranych zjawisk językowych, przedstawiono niektóre metody badawcze wykorzystywane w ostatnich latach w językoznawstwie kontrastywnym.Przywołane analizy dotyczą opisu funkcjonowania czasownika i przysłówka.
