Visual masking can be employed to manipulate observers' awareness of critical stimuli in studies of masked priming. This paper discusses two different lines of attack for establishing unconscious cognition in such experiments. Firstly,simple dissociationsbetweendirect measures (D)of visual awareness andindirect measures (I)of processing per se occur when I has some nonzero value whileDis at chance level; the traditional requirement of zero awareness is necessary for this criterion only. In contrast,double dissociationsoccur when some experimental manipulation has opposite effects on I andD, for instance, increasing priming effects despite decreasing prime identification performance (Schmidt & Vorberg, 2006). Double dissociations require much weaker measurement assumptions than other criteria. An attractive alternative to this dissociation approach would be to use tasks that are known to violatenecessary conditionsof visual awareness altogether. In particular, it is argued here that priming effects in speeded pointing movements (Schmidt, Niehaus, & Nagel, 2006) occur in the absence of the recurrent processing that is often assumed to be a necessary condition for awareness (for instance, DiLollo, Enns, & Rensink, 2000; Lamme & Roelfsema, 2000). Feedforward tasks such as this might thus be used to measure the time-course of unconscious processing directly, before intracortical feedback and awareness come into play.

Human trafficking is a new phenomenon of Albanian post-socialist society which significantly increased during the difficult years of its transformation from centralized state-led economy to market economy. Both economic and political instability contributed to its size, nature and multiple dynamics. Drawing on a rights-based approach to human trafficking, this paper examines the effectiveness of the counter-trafficking response of the Albanian government with a special emphasis on prevention, protection and prosecution. Using secondary data and reviewing various country strategic documents, it highlights a range of weaknesses and challenges which have hindered its effectiveness over years. It concludes that successful and effective counter-trafficking response requires well rounded and coordinated gender sensitive, victim-centred, holistic and human rights-based efforts. Combined with adequate law enforcement, they will sustainably tackle the full spectrum of this problem.

The article deals with the peculiarities of the American pedagogical ideas at the end of the ХІХth – the beginning of the ХХth centuries, considering ideas of pragmatic pedagogy by such representatives as W. James, F. Parker, E. Thorndike, F. McMurry, P. Monroe. There are the following theoretical methods that are used in the article: analysis, synthesis, generalization, classification, interpretation of historical and pedagogical sources with the purpose to decide the status of the problem and its correlation with important scientific researches of our time. The author points out that the end of the XIXth century in the US has marked a turning point for the pragmatic pedagogy, which principles differ from the traditional educational paradigm. Besides, the article proposes the number of the brightest pragmatic pedagogy representatives. Among them there are W. James (the main aims of the new pedagogy are: to provoke interest – to foresee – to prepare – to impart knowledge – to fix a result – to promote further development; the best method of teaching is a comprehensive information review with the help of multiple repetition that, as a result, turns into a habit; the interest is a continuation of unconditioned instincts); E. Thorndike (education is an organization of stimulus and response; three laws of learning: the law of readiness, the law of exercise and the law of effect); F. McMurry (the factors that influence the educational process: achievement of certain goals, extrapolation of ideas, formulation and usage of ideas, evaluation of the statement correctness and importance, memorizing, providing with a positive attitude to knowledge, stimulation of personality development); P. Monroe (modification of the school curriculum according to the social development needs) and others. As for the prospects for further research, they are connected with the comparison of the American pragmatic pedagogy and Ukrainian pedagogy at the end of the ХІХth – the beginning of the ХХth centuries. We could distinguish similarities and differences, trace the implementation of the American educational ideas into the educational process of the Ukrainian schools during the named period.

Access to the media is one of the most important civil rights. Adopted many years ago in the Polish Press Law model of corrections and responses can not guarantee the balance of power in the access to the press. The main reason is the lack of precision in defining these concepts by the legal act and doctrine of law. The presented paper describes and summarizes the projects and proposals for amendments to the right of reply.

Spory o  prawo do repliki prasowej (zakres dostępu do mediów) wiążą się z  przyjętym przed laty modelem sprostowań i  odpowiedzi zawartym w  Prawie prasowym. Uchwalone w  1984 roku w  Polsce rozwiązania wprowadzały model mieszany, który był jedyną w  Europie próbą połączenia romańskiej koncepcji repliki z  germańską koncepcją sprostowania. Rozwiązania mające pełnić funkcje wychowawcze, prewencyjne i  odszkodowawcze w  praktyce nie gwarantowały osobom zainteresowanym skutecznej realizacji prawa dostępu do prasy. W  artykule przeanalizowano i  porównano projekty i  propozycje zmian związanych z  prawem do repliki w  prasie na tle normatywnych i  kulturowych różnic w  dwóch obowiązujących w  Europie modelach prawnych, które mają gwarantować równowagę sił w  dostępie do mediów.

The author refers solely to coexisting polemic poetic works (prints and manuscripts) adhering to a literary convention of an initiating text. The poems treat significant events from the final years of the First Polish Republic and became the seed bed of the ideological struggle. Their polemic character was usually indicated in their titles beginning with words such as answer, reply, response, travesty, “tit for tat”, or with prepositions “on” (“on poetry”) or “to” (“to the author”). Perhaps they would not have won much renown if it was not for their presence in poetic skirmish. This paper indicates various battle methods used by polemicists and the propaganda impact of these works.

W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono zarys problematyki zarządzania logistycznego w trakcie niemilitarnych sytuacji kryzysowych. Na wstępie omówiono zadania i cele zarządzania kryzysowego w strukturze administracji publicznej. Kolejno zaprezentowano cele i zadania logistyki kryzysowej w prakseologicznym systemie zarządzania kryzysowego, zwracając szczególną uwagę na logistyczne potrzeby ludności poszkodowanej i realne możliwości zabezpieczenia i wsparcia logistycznego. Istotnym elementem zarządzania logistycznego w sytuacji kryzysowej są możliwości potencjałowe (kadrowe, organizacyjne, materiałowe, usługowe), które podlegają ścisłemu bilansowaniu na tle potrzeb aktualnego scenariusza zabezpieczenia logistycznego konkretnej sytuacji kryzysowej. W zakończeniu zwrócono uwagę na specyficzne zasady i rangę zarządzania logistycznego w każdej sytuacji kryzysowej i jego podstawowe znaczenie we wszechstronnym zabezpieczeniu logistycznym ludności poszkodowanej. Główna teza pracy wskazuje na decydujące znaczenie efektywnego zarządzania logistycznego w kształtowaniu wysokich standardów egzystencji ludności poszkodowanej podczas sytuacji kryzysowej.

The paper presents an outline of the issues of logistics management during nonmilitary crisis situations. At the beginning, the tasks and goals of crisis management in the structure of public administration are discussed. Successively, the goals and tasks of crisis logistics in the praxeological crisis management system are presented, paying particular attention to the logistic needs of the injured population and the real possibilities of securing and logistic support. An important element of logistic management in a crisis situation are potential possibilities (personnel, organizational, material, service), which are subject to strict balancing against the needs of the current logistic support scenario for a specific crisis situation. The conclusion highlights the specific principles and importance of logistic management in any crisis situation and its fundamental importance in the comprehensive logistical support of the injured population. The main thesis indicates the decisive importance of effective logistic management in shaping high standards of existence of the population aggrieved during a crisis situation.
