Human beings constantly interfere with nature by means of their activity. Their role in shaping the current natural world is indisputable. The problem of saturation and unsaturation in nature conservation relates to the degree of genetic diversity, flora and fauna species and ecosystems, which are managed by humans. This paper makes an attempt at answering the question as to whether one can speak of saturation in terms of biological diversity. For this purpose the issues related to attempts at defining biological diversity are described. As a result, human impact on the surrounding natural environment is discussed. To illustrate the above issues, two cases of human interference in the natural environment, characterized by rich and poor biodiversity, are discussed.

It is quite popular nowadays to postulate various kinds of unarticulated constituents that have essential bearing on truth conditions of utterances. F. Recanati champions an elaborated version of contextualism according to which one has to distinguish two kinds of unarticulated constituents: those that are articulated at the level of the logical form of a given sentence and those that are truly unarticulated. Recanati offers a theory which explains the manner of incorporating truly unarticulated constituents into the propositions expressed. This theory invokes variadic functions. The present paper shows that variadic functions are unnecessary because no constituents are truly unarticulated in the sense assumed by Recanati. An alternative explanation is offered according to which all propositional constituents are either explicitly or implicitly represented at the syntactic level.

Introduction: Obesity is a major problem for millions of citizens. The treatment of obesity is a problem of nutritionists, psychologists, physical therapists, internists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and many other specialists.Purpose:To determine the influence of obesity on: blood pressure (systolic and diastolic), mean pressure (MAP), the scale of the risk of surgery (ASA) and saturation.Materials and methods:The study was conducted among 200 patients. The research was prospective and was carried out in the general operating theatre in the Regional Specialist Hospital in Biała Podlaska between May 2011 and July 2012. The study was based on the anaesthetic documentation – anaesthetic information card, observation and analysis of patient records. For the statistical calculations, we used Statistica 10.0 using NIR test. Differences at p<0.05 were identified as significant. Results:The study did not confirm the significant impact of obesity on the deterioration of blood oxygenation. The surveyed men had significantly been higher preoperative absolute risk compared to women. A close relationship between an increased BMI and an increased risk associated with anesthesia was expressed in the ASA score chart. Conclusion:This study proved that overweight and obesity significantly affected blood pressure (systolic, diastolic), and MAP.

Very few philosophers and linguists doubt that definite descriptions have attributive uses and referential uses. The point of disagreement concerns whether the difference in uses is grounded on a difference in meaning. The Ambiguity Theory holds while the Implicature Theory denies that definite descriptions are ambiguous expressions, having an attributive meaning and a referential meaning. Contextualists have attempted to steer between the Ambiguity Theory and the Implicature Theory. I claim that the early contextualist account provided by Recanati and Bezuidehnout based on the idea that definite descriptions are semantically underdetermined and in need of a completion from the contextually available information through an optional top-down pragmatic process suffers from an explanatory gap.

A dilemma for qualitative research is to achieve adequate data saturation and to reduce the time required for data collection. The aim of the article is to provide an answer to the question: to what extent should an in-depth interview be moderated in order to ensure an adequate level of saturation and time required for the analysis of several topics? The research methods include a literature analysis and an analysis of the author's dissertation research reports. The article may help to improve the collection of high-quality data during in-depth interviews and to contribute to developing the methodological aspects of qualitative research.
