The article aims at mapping research questions linked with the phenomenon of urban megaprojects and their various socio-economic consequences. Using the literature, the author attempts to present megaprojects as tools of politics and policy-making. Four aspects of the process are considered in the paper: image (identity) and political legitimacy building, transfer of tools and practices and finally, the economic redistribution. Finally, the author tries to consider the usability the megaproject approach in the Polish context.
