A growing number of geologists, geophysicists, and other Earth scientists now claim that human caused changes in the chemistry of the atmosphere, oceans, and land are so pervasive as to constitute a new geological epoch characterized by humanity’s impact on the planet. They argue that these changes are so profound that future geologists will easily recognize a discernible boundary in the stratigraphy of rock separating this new epoch from the previous geological epoch, i.e., the Holocene. They propose to name this new geological epoch the “Anthropocene,” a term meaning the age of man. Common to this view is the claim that humans are now the ecologically dominant force on Earth. This paper will compare the understanding of human self-identity developed by the defenders of the Anthropocene discourse with the understanding of human self-identity developed by radical ecologists. The defenders of the Anthropocene Discourse argue that human beings must accept a new understanding of human self-identity as an emerg-ing elemental force of nature and as master of the planet while radical ecologists argue that human beings must cultivate a conception of human self-identity as integral to nature. Radical ecologists argue that human self-understanding has traditionally been constructed by defining the realm of the human through the denial of our embodiment, our animality, and our presence in the natural order of things. These forms of self-understanding and self-expression now result in the failure to envision and promote thriving and sustainable lifestyles and the consequent environmental tragedies that un-dermine the natural systems making possible good and healthy lives for all species. This paper will conclude by arguing that only an ecologically and dialogically in-formed conception of human self-identity can provide an adequate point of departure for an ecologically benign form of human dwelling on this planet.

The present article concentrates on the way of working out the program of effective intervention of professional reflection in psychology students. Five stages of study are presented. In the first step, in the literature review the designation of professional reflection was defined as a set of structure components: prognostic thinking, reflexivity, positive professional identity and agency. In the second step, in the empirical studies the external and internal factors of professional reflection were selected and examined among a group of professional psychologists (N=54). The analysis of empirical data of professional reflection factors and the level of its formation in psychology professionals made it possible to clearly identify the basic conditions for the intervention program «Professional reflection development» and its effect among psychology students. Only twenty five students (N=25) were self-selected in a 12-week intervention program forming an intervention group (IG). There are four studies of the program: cognitive, personality-related, motivational and emotional-volitional. All of them contain interaction, workshops, webinars, and art-cases. Remaining students (N=28) formed a control group (CG). The results obtained in both student groups and differences between them were further analyzed and explained.

In connection with the issue of control and its lack in The Walking Dead adventure game, I would like to consider elements of the game on which the player has a real impact, and that place difficulties in front of him. The question of player interference brings forth a substantial issue: if his influence is limited, then how does he mark his presence in a non-linear video game? Does he create his character according to the developer’s intentions, or is it a matter of his own individuality? Which tools does the player use when shaping the game’s scenario? I will seek answers to such questions by playing the game with the constant choice of “silent” dialogue lines, striving for the most “neutral” solution to the game’s tasks.

The article is an attempt to answer the question in what way Charles Taylor’s concept of narrative identity can be applied in sociological qualitative research on religiosity to reveal the relationship of religiosity to self-identity. A sense of self-identity is connected with solutions to multiple problems, e.g. an answer to the fundamental question: who am I? According to the author of Sources of the Self, people used to discover their identity through listening to stories about history and the past. Religious narration is one of the most important aspects of human narration. Taking into consideration various levels of a religious story, i.e. ritual narration or spiritual experience narration, the researcher may examine understanding and reasons for approval or rejection of a given religious narration. These explorations by means of the biographic-narrative-interpretative method may lead to a discovery of how religious narration influences self-identity. The article is divided into three parts. The first part discusses Taylor’s theory from the general perspective and the second part examines its particular key concepts. Finally the author indicates how to apply Taylor’s theory in the analysis of the individual narratives.

W socjologii religii szczególnie przydatne dziś są koncepcje m.in.

During his career as a writer, Calvino achieved a special bond with the children’s universe. He was one of the greatest Italian storytellers for adults who also explored the area of children’s literature and young adult literature and did so with sublime results. In particular, his literary approach is especially inspiring when addressing young adults. The main characters of his Our Ancestors trilogy embody some important qualities of the new contemporary man. The protagonists of The Cloven Viscount, The Baron in the Trees and The Nonexistent Knight all live, each in his own way, ‘upside down’, because they break the rules of logic. Their ‘adultness’ is characterized by the actual dimensions of unrest, ‘incompleteness’, indefiniteness, doubt, confusion, and uncertainty about the future, that is, by feelings that deeply define the archetypical elements of youth. Furthermore, their behaviour emphasizes the role of wandering which is considered a viaticum given as a means to access a different quality of life, which is certainly strange, unusual, and extraordinary, but also, precisely because of this extraordinariness, all the more authentic and rewarding. Finally, the search for humanity, differently incarnated by the three respective characters, represents the highest literary and educational values of Calvino’s narratives.

The article deals with the problem of meaning of a poetic text of economic, lapidary form devoid of linguistic metaphors, where the construction of expression directly reaches the sense. The style of ostensible redundancy is functional in analytical sentences and repetitions, which is connected with the title Chwila. The intention of stopping the time is expressed by the excess of text form, whose function is global meaning. In the analyzed poetry, the meaning is formed by the style; there is not a subject of description in an ontological sense. The elements of the represented world are incompatible and involve a number of choices or options. The meaning lies beyond the scope of reference of text elements. In Szymborska’s poetry, the meaning is not independent. It is not that she chooses appropriate means of expression for already prepared content; for example, when a lofty style is adapted to serious content, or trivial things are spoken playfully about. In Szymborska’s poetry, it is the other way round; a joke, a witticism is the material of her poetry, but the content is serious and concerns the fundamental problems of existence. The lack of loftiness is balanced by omnipresent irony, and the genius of this poetry is underlain by the simplicity and subtlety of medium, the brilliance of expressions and amazing grammar and style as far as linguistics is concerned.
