The article focuses on the role of sociocultural competence in teaching Slovene as a foreign language at selected Polish universities. According to the results of the online questionnaire, given to students of Slovene language in Lodz, Katowice and Warsaw, the desire to broaden personal knowledge about Slovenia, its culture and people is one of the main factors behind the decision to study Slovene or attend a Slovene language course at universities. At the same time the results of the questionnaire showed that students wish for the sociocultural aspect to be increasingly emphasised. The relationship between Slovenes and Poles exists for centuries though interpersonal intertwining, but according to the questionnaire the mutual understanding of the two nations is superficial. The author concludes that sensitivity for various sociocultural factors and their pertaining intercultural differences should be fostered.

Przedmiotem artykułu są rozważania o funkcji kompetencji socjokulturowych w nauczaniu języka słoweńskiego jako obcego na wybranych polskich uniwersytetach. Na podstawie wyników ankiety internetowej, przeprowadzonej wśród studentów uczących się języka słoweńskiego w Łodzi, Katowicach i Warszawie, można wysnuć wniosek, że chęć poszerzania wiedzy o Słowenii, jej kulturze i ludziach stanowi główną motywację do wyboru nauki języka słoweńskiego oraz do zapisów na uniwersyteckie lektoraty języka słoweńskiego. Jednocześnie wyniki ankiety pokazują nastawienie studentów w kierunku pogłębiania socjokulturowego aspektu prowadzonych zajęć. Stosunki polsko-słoweńskie przez wieki były nawiązywane poprzez osobiste kontakty, aczkolwiek według danych ankiety dialog między tymi dwoma narodami pozostaje powierzchowny. Autorka artykułu dochodzi do wniosku, że upowszechnia się wiedza o różnych polskich i słoweńskich aspektach socjokulturowych oraz, że istnieje świadomość stałych różnic między tymi dwoma kulturami narodowymi.
