While geographic information systems (GIS) are used in many aspects of archaeological research there are several barriers preventing larger scale and more sophisticated use beyond simple viewing of spatial data. A questionnaire survey of environmental archaeologists has been conducted to identify those barriers and gather information about general familiarity with GIS. The results suggest that the problem lies especially in the lack of funding, insufficient practical skills and inadequate data sources. A solution is proposed in the form of a Web- GIS framework that should mitigate some of the barriers, and facilitate interdisciplinary research. This paper presents the results of the first stage of the InterSecT project.

The article analyses demands of new concepts of student education on the level of secondary schools with technical focus. It urges the necessity to create new educational programs that prepare new future technical operators towards requirements of the labour market in future years in harmony with specifications of Industry 4.0. Many of job specializations is possible, at present time, to estimate only as a frame, but considering a length of study it is necessary to realize predictions at sphere of education needs consistently, expertly and continuously to introduce their results into innovations of existing educational programs or to introduce completely new, perspective educational programs by needs rising at production sector.

It discusses the two formal models of software testing by the concept of a black box. In the first model assumes a non-zero probability of not removing the detected error. In the second model assumes also non-zero probability to introduce additional of error, so-called secondary error. In both cases the systems of Chapman-Kolmogorov differential equations was formulated. Solving them was obtained formulas to enable an estimate the expected number of errors remaining in the software after end of testing and estimation of the expected duration of the process to complete software testing them.

The article deals with evolution of control parts of automatic systems and changes in consequence with it, which were needed for knowledge to designers of automation systems. Příspěvek se zabývá metodikou nově navrženého softwaru, který řeší optimalizaci provozu vedení přenosové soustavy v závislosti na přenášeném výkonu v předem zvolených teplotních spektrech. Metodika principu funkce je postavena na reálném základě dat provozních teplot a přenášeného výkonu na vedeních přenosové soustavy v České republice. Podkladem je vstupní databáze, která je sestavena ze skutečných hodnot přenášeného výkonu při reálné teplotě. Navržený software řeší možnost výběru vybraného vedení s možností nastavení rozsahu teplot provozovaného vedení. Výsledkem vyhodnocení je grafické znázornění provozu vybraného vedení přenosové soustavy s ohledem na aktuální přenášený výkon v předem stanoveném teplotním spektru, viz obr. 3. Při volbě přenášeného výkonu můžeme graficky vyhodnocovat technické ztráty. Metodika funkce, včetně výsledků je simulována pomocí MS Excel. V další verzi se počítá s použitím programovacího jazyka Visual Basic. Díky jednoduché obsluze je program vhodný kromě energetické praxe také do vzdělávací oblasti elektroenergetiky. The paper deals with methodology of software that looks into the operation optimization of the transmission network system line. The methodology is based on the real data of operating temperatures and transmitted power at the transmission network system line. There is an input databases made of real values of the transmitted power during real temperature. Software solves the possibility of the monitored line choice with the possibility of a temperature range setting. The result is a graph evaluation of transmission network system line operation due to transmitted power. On the base of the graph we can match technical loses to the value of transmitted power. The methodology of software is simulated in MS Excel.

In this brief media study the author explores supervision and control practices implemented through digital media by referring to anthropology of media and theory of biopolitics. The text focuses on algorithmized, software-based biometrics and the resulting databases, and it looks into scenarios of political and consumer control and supervision. The theoretical context for these reflections is discussed with respect to the post-media situation which results in biomedia practices, digital media placed close to human body and its organic sensorium (particularly, the face) as well as reconstructions of cultural codes that are attributed to human body and its vital functions. In his analysis the author refers to mobile applications and their software systems, while pointing to social practices that begin to develop around them.

Assumptions concerning a software supporting the primary intramural teaching subsidy distribution at a Wroclaw University of Science and Technology faculty compatible with a distribution algorithm are described. Strategic goal, main problems, roles and operational tasks of this support are identified. Selected business processes and system use cases are analyzed. Concepts as well as introductory system architecture accommodating the necessity of the subsidy distribution algorithm updating are elaborated. Proposals important from the point of view of the dean’s financial assistant preparing analytical data concerning subsidy distribution for the faculty provisional as well as final budged version are formulated.

Current software systems address modelling and simulation of fire in various environments and conditions. They allow you to test various fire scenarios and model their course and consequences. They are able to detect the possible risks and circumstances that can lead to the damage and to prevent or limit the consequences of potential future fires. Based on fire tests and experiments, new tools and means have been developed to gather the necessary information on fires. Such a means is computer fire simulation. They are based on empirical and scientific knowledge and are comparable to real fire experiments. The great advantage of fire simulations is the non-destructiveness of materials and greater flexibility of use. The complexity of spatial geometry, the mathematical difficulty of solving differential equations, and the demands on computer performance, often include the complexities of fire modelling, but simulation currently allows fairly accurate prediction of the spread of fire and has become an important part of improving fire safety. Fundamental programs such as FDS, Smokeview and Smartfire are introduced as well as flood simulator developed in Czech Republic.

This article analyses the phenomenon of using the Open Source software. The aim is to investigate and verify the existence of a positive direct network effect that characterizes usage of the Open Source software. The multivariate probit model is applied to extract factors motivating end users to the usage of the Open Source software. Special attention is paid to the demographic characteristics of the end users, as well as to the impact of the end users’ peers, such as family, work and school, on using the Open Source software. The results confirm the research assumptions. It is found that the actual choice of various Open Source software groups is correlated and thus cannot be analyzed separately. This supports the hypothesis about the existence of the network effect derived from the complementary services and dependencies among applications. The obtained results are representative for the Polish population aged 13-54.

Lome.io is cloud based software for collecting and analyzing network data. It integrates the process of collecting network data designed to support the most common organizational network studies with online network analysis module. It uses a highly customizable survey module to collect data that are connected to online network visualization and statistics modules, hence fully supporting the organizational and social network analysis (ONA, SNA) research process in a cloud. We present several key features of lome.io software in the context of organizational network analysis studies.

The author discusses the key issues of market regulation of new technologies, problems which are reflected in the literature and the case law in recent years, including: uniform electronic communication service, attempts to develop a single, pan-European e-signature standards, new trends in the application of competition law in the telecommunications sector, net neutrality, assuming equal access to the network, the issue of standards, sharing files from the perspective of pan-European licenses, copyrights in analog and digital copies, use of works in the cloud and the location of ISPs’ responsibility, as well as electronic payments.

Nauczanie i kształcenie związane z komputerami jest zazwyczaj ograniczone do umiejętności posługiwania się oprogramowaniem, zwłaszcza firmy Microsoft. Istnieją jednak szerokie możliwości wykorzystania w procesie kształcenia oprogramowania o otwartym kodzie. Idea wymiany obowiązująca w oprogramowaniu open source prowadzi do twórczego myślenia, aktywności, poszerza wiedzę. Kształcenie w polskich szkołach nie musi odbywać się wyłącznie na bazie rozwiązań komercyjnych, gdyż istnieją użyteczne rozwiązania alternatywne. Ubuntu Linux oraz SLAX Linux to dystrybucje najlepiej spełniające wymagania podstawy programowej kształcenia ogólnego.

The development of information technology continues to influence the educational process. However, computer related teaching practice tends to be limited to the use of software, predominantly Microsoft products, despite the fact that there is considerable potential in employing open source software to the broadly understood educational process. The very concept of Open Source is conductive of creative thinking, pro-active approach, and educational exploration. Education in Polish schools does not have to be based solely on commercial solutions, as fully functional alternatives are available. Ubuntu Linux and SLAX Linux distributions are particularly well suited to the requirements of core school curriculum.

The paper deals with interdisciplinary connections of mathematics and informatics that occur while teaching students of non-technical specialties (Ecology, Environmental Protection and Balanced Nature Management, International Economics, Management of Organizations) disciplines of the mathematical cycle and computer and information disciplines. It is shown that achieving the goal of formation of a personality, ready for professional, social and other activities that involve system world view, ability to solve problems within the framework of the surrounding reality, using knowledge, techniques and skills formed in different subject areas, is possible with the help of educing interdisciplinary connections in the learning process. At the same time the spreadsheet Microsoft Excel has been chosen for working out the system of interdisciplinary tasks. For implementation of these connections the elaborated electronic textbooks are given. They contain all the basic stages of training: theoretical material, practical tasks with the sequence of their execution, tasks for independent work, references to additional literature, questions for self-monitoring and testing for particular numbers of sections. After passing the tests the mark is given, and it is pointed out which studied sections should be paid special attention to before starting the new topic. Some examples on function graph construction, work with matrices and solving systems of linear and nonlinear equations are considered in detail. Methods and forms of education, control measures, division into lectures and seminars, the results of testing and implementation of the developed system of tasks and electronic textbooks into educational process are given. As a result, due to the usage of interdisciplinary tasks alongside with electronic textbooks for students of non-technical specialities while teaching the disciplines of Economic Informatics, Mathematics for Economists, Higher and Applied Mathematics, Informatics (for professional purposes), Higher Mathematics with Fundamentals of Mathematical Statistics, it is possible to achieve educational and developmental goals; to form information (computer) and analytical competencies; to increase students’ motivation for studying in general; moreover, the number of students involved in scientific-research work is increasing.

The firmware installed on IoT devices is responsible for their proper operation. It may have not only bugs, but also elements hidden from the buyer or the lack of any cybersecurity mechanisms. This is an extremely dangerous situation for any user, including professionals. The study introduces the applicable regulations in the field of producer responsibility for software deficiencies and errors, presenting significant lack of the protection of buyers from B2B and B2A sectors. The conclusions, pointing to the advisability of extending the regulations on defective products applicable to the consumer market, include de lege ferenda postulates.

To sytuacja skrajnie niebezpieczna dla każdego użytkownika, również profesjonalnego. W artykule zaprezentowano obowiązujące regulacje w zakresie odpowiedzialności producentów za braki i błędy w oprogramowaniu, przybliżając istotne luki w zakresie ochrony nabywców z sektorów B2B i B2A. W konkluzjach, wskazując na celowość rozszerzenia obowiązujących na rynku konsumenckim regulacji dotyczących produktów niebezpiecznych, zawarto postulaty de lege ferenda.

Artificial intelligence, besides blockchain, is the main topic discussed by representatives of nearly every branch of economy. Some entities are trying to search for their place in the world of artificial intelligence driven technology and others are looking carefully at the developments in the AI. Undoubtedly, software making use of the artificial intelligence can be viewed as something that can change the world we live in. The titles of press releases or other information sources are stimulating ones imagination in the range of possible application of artificial intelligence. At the same time, there is a group of people from the technology sector, that are concerned by the rapid and limitless development in this regard. The future of artificial intelligence and its application is still unknown but there are as many positive expectations as negative predictions. There are still many questions that have to be answered before the time that deep or strong AI will be prepared for everyday use. One of such questions is whether copyright is only dedicated for human beings? If the answer is affirmative than the next question that have to be asked is what form or type of protection can be used for works of art made not by humans? This are not the only problems that may arise (or has already arisen) from the use of AI.

The aim of the paper is to draw a picture of the legal situation after the Court of Justice of the European Union judgment in UsedSoft case (3.7.2012, C-128/11). The Court stated that the online sales of the licensed software files shall be treated under certain conditions the same as sales of tangible copies with all its consequences, especially the ones concerning the exhaustion of the right to market the work. According to the abovementioned judgment a software copy once it has been sold shall be free to be resold. The process of the computer program file sale/resale can take one of three forms: resale by non-licensee, by licensee but without the license and by licensee including the license. The paper describes precisely all legal aspects of these forms of software online resale, with particular emphasis on the legal basis of the use of software by acquirer in each case and the possibility to apply the rights of the legal acquirer of computer program (article 5.1 of the software directive 2009/24/EC). Last but not least the author tries to describe the legal possibilities and consequences of the CJEU judgment implementation into the Polish legal system, concluding that it would be very difficult without the substantial changes in the Polish copyright act.

Dzięki nowym mediom komunikaty te dostosowane są do cech i potrzeb odbiorców, co skutkuje lepszą rozpoznawalnością terytoriów w świadomości różnych grup zainteresowanych. Analizom wybranych aspektów komunikowania o produktach terytorialnych determinowanego cechami nowych mediów poświęcone jest niniejsze opracowanie.

The article analyzes the content of the labor training with the serving types of labour in Ukraine in the second half of the twentieth century. An important prerequisite for the development of labor education in general, and serving types of labour, including study and critical analysis of past domestic experience with the aim of isolating it those elements that can be applied in the modern system of labor training. Research of the content of labor studies is very difficult, because on the one hand, we must consider all and objectively. In conditions of a modern production, on the other hand, it is equally important to consider all the psychological and pedagogical aspects of learning and skills of children. Problems of the content of the program of labor training and its improvement are reflected in research works of researchers-teachers: I. Vasilieva, A. Vyhruscha, V. Gusev, S. Demianchuk, N. Kalinichenko V. Orzhehovskoyi, N. Slyusarenko, T. Soroka , D. M. Tarnopolsky, J. Thorzhevskoho, G. Tereshchuk and others. Each researcher has his own point of view to explain the nature of the content of programs of labor training, but most arguments and assertions of school subject content are primarily defined as a system of knowledge and skills systematized in a certain way. Options of program were specific to each republic and even individual regions or districts. It is stressed that the variety of objects of productive work for students in the content structure of labor studies programs should ensure the unity formation of polytechnic knowledge and skills with the production activities of students in all classes of labor training. Good for the task is a program with a structure of content that enables to teach students finishing operations in the initial phase of training in the technological processing sequence of specific material followed the approach to production but with the patterns of knowledge and practical employment skills. Careful research on the problem of education content and the ways of its optimization in modern conditions is needed. The study of previous experience is one of the major steps in this direction. Research and analysis of the content of programs of labor training (service types of labour) in secondary schools of Ukraine in the second half of the twentieth century, can give the opportunity to create new, more sophisticated and optimal, allowing for the location of the school, its technological and scientific method framework.

The authors of the text argue that any relationship established between the code and analogue elements of the operating system should be recognized as a matter of aesthetic choice. According to them with free code writing, enabled by rising computational power, certain elements (procedures) of the work may become part of artistic expression as a result of the designer’s arbitrary decision. In contrast, in older installations codes had to be well-matched to ensure compatibility with the analogue components of the system because of constraints in computer performance. It was a relationship in which only these procedures could be applied which conformed to the architecture of the operating system. Consequently, the expression of such work was essentially a reflection of its structure.
