Speech plays a key role in our lives. Normal development of speech is an important condition of school readiness. The article presents child’s speech development. It is focused on the speech development of a six - year - old child. The paper presents the causes of speech disorders and the most frequent speech disorders as dyslalia, stuttering and delays in speech. The article describes the term ‘school readiness’. The author explains the influence of speech disorders on child functioning in school and school difficulties.

The authors of the paper present the results of the research on the incorrect way of pronouncing the soft dentalized consonants as well as the range and regularity of the defect in the case of a person with open occlusion and with the correct one. The research shows that in both cases the defect consists in changing the palatal [ś ź ć v] into the palatalized [s’ z’ c’ r’] or even into the hard [s z c r]. However, the study does not only deal with the permanent substitution of the above-mentioned realisations but with the optional incorrect pronunciation that occurs alternatively with the correct one. In the position before a vowel the defective articulation even with distinctly heard [z] is a rule. What is more, [z] appears, although not so regularly, in the case of the right realisation of /ś ź ć v/ as well. The comparison of the pronunciation of a person with open occlusion and the correct one shows that the defect of occlusion does not influence the articulation of /ś ź ć v/. Certain phonetic factors resulting in the intensity of speech defects are more important here. For example, flattening lips during the articulation of a following vowel and the presence of other palatal dentalized sounds in a word or phrase. The conducted research provides certain tips helpful in logopedic therapy.

Prawidłowy rozwój mowy i języka dziecka zaczyna się już w okresie prenatalnym. Warunki środowiskowe wpływają na umiejętność poprawnego nabywania dźwięków mowy przez dziecko, poznawania reguł gramatyki, wzbogacania słownictwa biernego i czynnego. Uczeń edukacji wczesnoszkolnej powinien opanować szereg umiejętności, które ułatwią mu komunikację oraz bezpośrednio wpływają na prawidłowy rozwój psychospołeczny. Zintegrowane działania kadry nauczycielskiej i specjalistów pozwalają na wyodrębnienie podopiecznych z wadami wymowy oraz ich korygowanie poprzez odpowiednio dobraną terapię logopedyczną. Zagwarantowanie dzieciom i młodzieży warunków do harmonijnego rozwoju mowy, sprawności językowej i możliwie najpełniejszych kompetencji w zakresie komunikacji interpersonalnej jest najlepszą inwestycją na przyszłość. Dlatego tak ważna jest działalność profilaktyczna, która jest jednym z najistotniejszych uwarunkowań efektywnego systemu opieki logopedycznej, opierającego się na nawiązywaniu skutecznej współpracy logopedów z pedagogami w wyniku wdrażania strategii prewencyjnych w systemie edukacji.

The right development of speech and language of a child begins in the prenatal period. Environmental conditions influence the ability of a child to acquire the speech sounds, learn grammar rules, enrich his/her passive and active vocabulary. Early education pupil should learn a number of skills which will facilitate the process of communication and will directly influence the right psychological and social development of a child. Integrated actions of teaching staff and specialists allow to find the children with speech defects and allow the correction of the defects by using particular sorts of stimulation. It seems to be the best possible investment to guarantee the children and the youth best conditions for harmonious speech development, language skills and possibly, providing them with the best competence in interpersonal communication. That is why preventive activity is so meaningful as it is one of the most important conditions of effective system of speech therapy prevention. The system should be based on effective cooperation of speech therapists and pedagogues who implement preventive strategies to education system.

The article discusses speech defects and speaking, reading and writing difficulties in one person with the Sensory Processing Disorders. The analysis of the problems is based on studies Sensory Processing Disorders of an eight-year-old boy. The aim of the article was a multifaceted assessment of reading and writing difficulties. The objective of the task evaluated the motor skills of speech organs and assess articulation skills. For this purpose, a questionnaire to test pronunciation was used. The collected empirical data also enabled the attempt to answer the question whether among the problems of the Sensory Processing Disorders persons there is a relationship between articulation difficulties and mistakes appearing in reading and writing.

W artykule omówiono wady wymowy oraz trudności w mówieniu, czytaniu i pisaniu u osoby z zaburzeniami przetwarzania sensorycznego. Analiza problemów opiera się na badaniach dotyczących zaburzeń przetwarzania sensorycznego ośmioletniego chłopca. Celem artykułu była wieloaspektowa ocena trudności w czytaniu i pisaniu. Oceniano sprawność motoryczną narządów mowy oraz umiejętności artykulacyjne. W tym celu wykorzystano kwestionariusz sprawdzający wymowę. Zebrane dane empiryczne umożliwiły także próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy wśród problemów osób z zaburzeniami przetwarzania sensorycznego istnieje związek pomiędzy trudnościami w artykulacji a błędami pojawiającymi się w mówieniu, czytaniu i pisaniu.

he purpose of the study was to show how severe, for adolescents and school-aged children diagnosed with defects and speech disorders, are such behavioral disorders that may at the same time cause major adaptation diffi-culties. These not only appear but also increase in time, both in preschoolers’ and in students’ populations living in urban and rural areas. As the result of the constant growth and their increasing problems we have decided to conduce a research on relatively large populations of children between 6 and 12 years old. Among all diagnosed speech defects and speech disorders, multi-faceted dyslalia was relatively high in its intensity. It is hard to believe that today, in the age of computers and the Internet, the number of children with speech disorders is still growing and that they often suffer from depression and other psychotic disorders requiring specialist intervention.

Celem opracowania było ukazanie tego, jak poważną przyczyną trudności przystosowawczych i zaburzeń w zachowaniu się zarówno dzieci w wie-ku przedszkolnym, jak i uczniów w wieku szkolnym są m.in. diagnozowane u nich wady i zaburzenia mowy. Te nie tylko się pojawiają, lecz także nasilają z czasem, tak u przedszkolaków, jak i u uczniów mieszkających i w miastach, i na wsiach. Potwierdzeniem wzrostu nasilających się tego rodzaju problemów są wyniki badań, jakie od lat prowadzę na stosunkowo dużych populacjach dzieci w wieku od 6 do 12 lat. Wśród wszystkich diagnozowanych wad i zaburzeń mowy na pierwszy plan wysuwa się dyslalia wieloraka o stosunkowo dużym na-sileniu. Aż trudno w to uwierzyć, że dziś, w dobie komputerów i Internetu ciągle przybywa dzieci z wadami i zaburzeniami mowy, nierzadko prowadzącymi do depresji i do innych zaburzeń o charakterze psychotycznym, wymagających in-terwencji specjalistów.

Prawidłowe kształtowanie się i rozwój mowy dziecka stanowi podstawę do jego adaptacji w różnych środowiskach oraz prawidłowego rozwoju osobowości. Dzięki rozumieniu mowy zdolne jest ono do poznawania i rozumienia otaczającego środowiska, natomiast dzięki umiejętności mówienia może wyrażać swoje myśli, spostrzeżenia i uczucia. Dziecko uczy się mowy przez naśladowanie otoczenia, w którym przychodzi mu żyć, a mowa osób, które go wychowują, jest dla niego wzorem. Wiele zależy też od poziomu wiedzy rodziców, nauczycieli na temat czynników determinujących rozwój języka dzieci. Celem opisanych tu badań jest poznanie, jaką wiedzę na temat rozwoju mowy dziecka i działań zapobiegających powstawaniu wad wymowy mają rodzice dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym.

The proper development and the child’s speech development is the basis for its adaptation in various environments and the proper development of personality. The child thanks to the understanding of speech is able to learn and understand the surrounding environment, but thanks to the ability of speaking it can express thoughts, observations and feelings. The child learns the speech by imitating the environment in which he or she lives what means that the child follows the model of the speech of the people who bring him/her up. Much also depends on the level of parents’ and teachers’ knowledge about the factors determining the development of children’s language. The aim of the research described here is to learn what kind of knowledge about the development of speech of a child and actions preventing the occurrence of speech defects parents of children in pre-school age have.

Baldur's Gate game series belong to the RPG classics. The world that is presented in them is based on AD&D rules of the second edition. In addition, they represent a genre known as high fantasy. It presents the metamorphosis of characters - ordinary people become heroes. They were not born as heroes. This means that they are not impeccable, without defects or disabilities. In this way they diverge from the classic, epic characters of the hero. Their weak-nesses make them more human and thus closer to the real world. Of course, these imperfec-tions concern different spheres. This analysis focuses on the linguistic manifestations of speech disorders of some characters. Problems related to speech do not only concern the lan-guage culture, but they also include disorders that are interesting from the point of view of speech therapy (corrective and artistic therapy pathologies, including glottologopedics, bal-butologopedics and neurologopedics). The material for the analysis was obtained from scripts of dialogues and audio material from the games: Baldur's Gate (including Baldur's Gate: Tales of the SwordCoast) and Baldur's Gate II (including Baldur's Gate II: Bhaal's Throne), in full Polish language versions (acting dubbing and tensions). The description uses the case study method.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie frekwencji występowania zniekształceń wymowy głosek [ɕ], [ʑ], [ʨ], [ʥ] oraz wskazanie, jakie cechy artykulacyjne głosek, jakie sąsiedztwo fonetyczne, jaka pozycja w wyrazie oraz jakie cechy prozodyczne wpływają na częstotliwość zaburzeń realizacji. Badaniu poddano spontaniczne wypowiedzi 30 młodych kobiet ze zdiagnozowanymi zaburzeniami palatalności głosek [ɕ], [ʑ], [ʨ], [ʥ]. Wyniki wskazują na niestały charakter zaburzenia (ponad 56% występujących w wypowiedziach sybilantów palatalnych miało normatywne brzmienie) oraz wpływ skomplikowania realizacyjnego głoski i potrzebnej do produkcji danego fragmentu wypowiedzi energii artykulacyjnej na częstotliwość występowania nieprawidłowości.

The aim of the article is to present the frequency of deformations in the pronunciation of sounds [ɕ], [ʑ], [ʨ], [ʥ] and to show which atriculatory features, closeness of which sounds, which positions in a word and which prosodic features have an impact on the frequency of incorrect realisations. Spontaneous statements of 30 young women with diagnosed disorders of palatalization in pronunciation [ɕ], [ʑ], [ʨ], [ʥ] sounds were the subject of the research. The results show unstable character of disorder (over 56% of the palatal sibilants in the examined statements was perceived as normative) and an impact of a complicated articulatory structure and of an articulatory energy needed for production of a part of statement on frequency of disorders.

The author presents an analysis of changes in the approaches that have occurred in Polish speech therapy towards patients with phoneme realization disorders. One presents the context in which Polish speech therapy is developing, which is related to the opportunities (and also the threats) that are associated with the uncontrolled market of various trainings, webinars, the space for exchanging opinions of numerous specialists formulating their views on the Internet and in other sites (e.g. Facebook , websites providing advice on speech disorders, including speech impediments). In the next part of the study the author presents three perspectives of phoneme realization disorders, namely: the traditional perspective, the new perspective and - which is a complementary view of the analysis - the traditional powdered perspective. The work ends with conclusions and postulates regarding the development of speech therapy in its academic and educational dimension.

Autorka przedstawia analizę zmian postępowania w przypadku osób z zaburzeniami realizacji fonemów, które zaszły/zachodzą w polskiej logopedii. Przedstawia kontekst, w jakim rozwija się polska logopedia, co ma związek z możliwościami (a także z zagrożeniami), łączącymi się z niekontrolowanym rynkiem różnorodnych szkoleń, webinariów, przestrzenią wymiany opinii rozmaitych specjalistów, formułujących swoje opinie w internecie i nie tylko (np. facebook, strony internetowe udzielające porad na temat zaburzeń mowy, w tym wad wymowy). W kolejnej części opracowania autorka przedstawia trzy ujęcia zaburzeń realizacji fonemów, a mianowicie: ujęcie tradycyjne, ujęcie nowe i – co jest dopełniającą perspektywą analizy – ujęcie tradycyjne pudrowane. Pracę kończą wnioski i postulaty dotyczące rozwoju logopedii w jej wymiarze naukowym i związanym z kształceniem.

Autorka przedstawia motywacje, które skłoniły ją do zaproponowania nazwy – „orofacjologopedia” – dla pewnej grupy zaburzeń mowy związanych z wadliwą budową i/lub funkcją obwodowych narządów mowy. Opisuje przedmiot orofacjologopedii, a również wskazuje na najważniejsze problemy związane z badaniami tego wycinka logopedii. Przypomina także różne kryteria wyodrębnienia innych specjalności logopedycznych, co staje się tłem dla podejmowanych rozważań. Wskazuje na korzyści płynące z nazwania charakterystycznych objawów i przyczyn zaburzeń związanych z anomaliami anatomicznymi i dysfunkcjami czynności prymarnych, a także parafunkcjami związanymi z przestrzenią orofacjalną. Odnosi się też do niewystarczającego kształcenia logopedycznego w zakresie dyslalii, jakie jest obecne w niektórych uczelniach wyższych w Polsce.

The author presents the motivation that prompted her to propose the name – orofacial speech therapy – for a certain group of speech defects connected with imperfect structure and/or function of the peripheral speech organs. In the following article the subject of orofacial speech therapy is described and the most relevant problems connected with the research in this segment of speech therapy are indicated. One also reminds of various criteria of distinguishing other segments related to speech therapy, which becomes the background for the undertaken issues. She also points to the advantages coming from the fact that we give names to the characteristic symptoms and causes of defects within anatomical anomalies and disfunctions of the primary activities as well as parafunctions within orofacial space. This aspect refers to insufficient education for speech therapists within dislalia – which can be observed at some universities in Poland.
