The essence of professional pedagogical culture of physical training and sport specialist is revealed in the article.Basic notions such as «culture», «physical culture», «professional culture», «pedagogical culture», «professional competence» as parts of professional-pedagogical culture of specialist аre exposed. In the process of investigation we have found out that the professional-pedagogical culture of physical training and sport specialist combines the professional, pedagogical and personal aspects. They are combined functionally and by the content with other basic formations, first of all with general culture, professional competence that causes formation of social-pedagogical maturity of a specialist. Scientific knowledge about professional pedagogical culture of a specialist as integral social-pedagogical phenomenon that gains definiteness in the context of unity of a person’s physical culture, specialist’s culture and general culture has been deepened and extended. The essence of professional pedagogical specialist’s culture is considered as formation that consists of basic, general professional, professional specialization competences and professional significant characteristics of a person, which reveal integration of knowledge, skills, habits; personal, social and pedagogical abilities that is precondition of effective physical-pedagogical activity. It has been defined that professional-pedagogical culture is a systemic integrative formation of specialist’s personality as a subject of physical-pedagogical activity, as an expression of physical culture of a person, culture of specialist and general culture, as a generalized index of professional competence, basis of social-pedagogical maturity and the aim of professional self-perfection. Understanding of conception of physical culture of pupils’ personality allows making a conclusion that cultural formation of a personality is the basis for functioning of all components of physical culture because humanistic valued relations run through all its components. Professional and pedagogical culture is a common category that represents the social and cultural development as a specialist personal quality that defines sports and life position, social and educational maturity and socially useful activity personality and willingness to effectively solve problems of sports activities on the basis of existing knowledge, skills, values, professionally important qualities.

As a result of the growing pace of life and developing civilization in which important factors are the crisis of values, the misunderstood idea of freedom and the willingness to achieve success quickly (by taking a shortcut), a new area of threats can be observed. They are caused by faster pace of life that is related to technical development which, in turn, makes us place higher demands on ourselves both in respect to our physical and psychological fitness. Contemporary world requires people to take care of their bodies. This is related especially to taking care of our bodies through the prism of the myth of beauty. The ideal of beauty promoted by mass media is difficult to achieve for an average human being and impossible to achieve for the majority of people in a satisfactory time period. Therefore, reflection on experiencing corporality as an aesthetic value in reference to safety culture seems to be both interesting and significant. High safety culture is related to high values ascribed to human health and life as well as keeping the boundary between essential risk, which is an integral part of life and development, and ensuring safety and protection against threats. The axiology of physical activity and issues of movement, fitness, health and beauty of human body related to it is one of subject of interest in safety culture. The aim and specification of actions in the field of body axiology is description, interpretation and analysis of facts related to human corporality which have sense and therefore are a value.

Leisure centers (LC) are in Slovakia among relevant organizations focused on the organization and development of extracurricular student activities. Sports and cultural events organized by LC have a long tradition and contribute to their free time for children and youth. Legislative measure taken in recent months means the Government of the Slovak Republic made significant changes in the functioning and financing of LC, which has the effect in limiting organized activities. The paper deals with the situation of the functioning of LC in current conditions.

The needs of household members are varied. They cover not only elementary, but also higher-level needs, including social ones. The latter are defi ned as the needs for social coexistence, such as socialization, building external and internal social bonds, physical culture, recreation. The purpose of the article is to show the important role of physical activity in the hierarchy of needs of households in the context of the aging and losing health condition of the Polish society. Therefore, attention was paid to the specifi city of the examined needs and possibilities of satisfying them, emphasizing the role of social infrastructure. The health condition of the society from the perspective of demographic changes and approach to health problems were also presented. The latest CSO household budget surveyswere used, showing expenditure on recreation and culture as well as the results of the latest edition of the EU-SILC 2017 survey, from which information on the state of physical activity in Poland was obtained.

Potrzeby członków gospodarstw domowych są zróżnicowane. Obejmują nie tylko potrzeby elementarne, ale też wyższego rzędu, w tym społeczne. Te drugie są definiowane jako potrzeby dotyczące współżycia społecznego, jak socjalizacja, budowanie zewnętrznych i wewnętrznych więzi społecznych, kultura fizyczna, rekreacja. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie ważnej roli aktywności fizycznej w hierarchii potrzeb gospodarstw domowych w kontekście starzejącego się i tracącego kondycję zdrowotną społeczeństwa polskiego. Zwrócono zatem uwagę na specyfikę badanych potrzeb i możliwości ich zaspokajania, eksponując rolę infrastruktury społecznej. Zaprezentowano też kondycję zdrowotną społeczeństwa z perspektywy zmian demograficznych i podejścia do problemów zdrowotnych. Wykorzystane zostały najnowsze badania budżetów gospodarstw domowych GUS, pokazujące wydatki na rekreację i kulturę oraz wyniki ostatniej edycji badań EU-SILC 2017, z których pozyskano informacje dotyczące stanu aktywności fizycznej w Polsce.

Sports is a form of spending free time, chosen by a large group of young people. It turns out that sport activity can be related to the formation of some cognitive functions of humans. Therefore, the aim of the undertaken research was to verify the connection between selected executive functions and sport activity in younger adolescents. The study group consisted of 12-year-olds (N = 38, 63% were girls) practising competitive swimming and their peers not practising sports. The following functions were measured: verbal working memory, information processing and working memory and the ability to inhibit habitual reaction. For this purpose, methods were used: Subtest from the Wechsler Intelligence Scale – Digital Repetition, Quick Name Test and experimental version of the Stroop Test. The research indicated that there is a connection between the sport activity, which is competitive swimming, and the executive functions (information processing and working memory). The results obtained have a direct impact on human functioning in everyday life and indicate the possibility of stimulating cognitive development through sport.

Uprawianie sportu jest formą spędzania czasu wolnego wybieraną przez duże grono młodzieży. Okazuje się, że aktywność sportowa może być powiązana z kształtowaniem się niektórych funkcji poznawczych człowieka. W związku z tym celem podjętych badań była weryfikacja powiązania między wybranymi funkcjami wykonawczymi a aktywnością sportową u młodszych adolescentów. Grupę badaną stanowili 12-latkowie (N = 38, 63% stanowiły dziewczynki) uprawiający wyczynowo pływanie oraz ich rówieśnicy nieuprawiający sportu. Dokonano pomiaru takich funkcji, jak: werbalna pamięć operacyjna, tempo przetwarzania informacji i pamięć operacyjna oraz zdolność do zahamowania nawykowej reakcji. W tym celu zastosowano następujące metody: Podtest ze Skali Inteligencji Wechslera – Powtarzanie Cyfr, Test Szybkiego Nazywania oraz eksperymentalną wersję Testu Stroopa. Badania wskazały na istnienie powiązania między aktywnością sportową, jaką jest pływanie wyczynowe, a funkcjami wykonawczymi (tempo przetwarzania informacji i pamięć operacyjna). Otrzymane wyniki mają bezpośrednie przełożenie na funkcjonowanie człowieka w życiu codziennym i wskazują na możliwość stymulacji rozwoju poznawczego poprzez uprawianie sportu.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań poświęconych roli aktywności sportowej w przeciwdziałaniu stresowi w miejscu pracy. Badanie miało charakter zwiadu badawczego. Zostało przeprowadzone wśród funkcjonariuszy Państwowej Straży Pożarnej (PSP) przy pomocy ankiety. Wyniki i wnioski mogą być źródłem inspiracji i wskazówek do dalszych badań.

The purpose of the article is to present the results of studies devoted to the role of sports activity in the prevention of stress in the workplace. The form of the study was that of a reconnaissance. It was conducted among the service personnel of the State Fire Service (PSP). Results and conclusions can serve as a source of inspiration and guidance for further research.

This article is an attempt at analysis of the catholic Church’s position on sport activity. The starting point is a brief discussion of the relation between theology and sport. Next, there are given reasons why Church of first centuries was reluctant to sport activity. But already St. Paul referred to sport competition in order to show what is the meaning of christians’ life. In the next part, there are presented examples of how truly interested in sport were both laity and clergy catholics in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Since the beginning of twentieth century sport activity has been mentioning in the statements of the Church authorities. This paper is also showing an attitude of Popes of twentieth century to sport activity. In conclusion, there is pointed out how sport can be useful for man and what kind of sport can be an effective tool for evangelization.
