The optimal piano teacher: Sosniak’s model versus Polish teachers from public music schools

The author deals with the relationship between a piano teacher and her/his pupil/student at different stages of development. The relationship is defined in the literature as one of the most important features determining musical-artistic achievements. She describes the American research into the nurturing of pianists’ talent, and presents the optimal model of piano teacher devised by L. Sosniak, based on interviews with 20 young American pianists with high and significant achievements. The model indicates that the best conditions for artistic development are the sequence of three different teachers, or three different pedagogical strategies, adjusted to the stages of development of young musicians: (1) music teacher for the youngest pupils, whose task is to arouse interest and provide intrinsic motivation and passion for music and piano-playing; (2) instructor teacher (for teenagers), whose task is to help students to build a solid métier, acquire the necessary motor skills and piano technique, and to improve their artistic performance; (3) master teacher for young adult pianists, whose task is to help them to integrate the skills gained previously, to shape their artistic personality. This sequence turned out to be extremely favourable for the later achievements of the interviewed pianists. The author then provides an analysis of statements by Polish pianists from the older generation, and an observation of the behaviour of piano teachers from Polish public music schools. These show that in our piano pedagogy there exists only one type of teacher, the instructor teacher who, compared to Sosniak‘s model, places the greatest emphasis on technical skills and avoids the issue of expression.

Innowacyjność jest postrzegana jako kluczowy czynnik przyczyniający się do wzrostu konkurencyjności organizacji i gospodarki, czego efektem jest rozwój. Niezmiennie ważnym problemem badawczym jest także diagnoza czynników utrudniających prowadzenie działalności innowacyjnej. Jednymi z warunków wewnętrznych oddziałujących na innowacje są różnorodność i rozwój technologiczny. Różnorodność, innymi słowy zespołowość, jakość kadry, jest wartością coraz bardziej pożądaną przez współczesne przedsiębiorstwa i niezbędną do ich nowoczesnego rozwoju. Natomiast łącząc innowacyjność z technologią warto podkreślić, że samo pojęcie innowacyjności można rozumieć nie tylko jako proces obejmujący wszystkie działania związane z przekształcaniem idei czy pomysłu w nowy produkt, a także w nową technologię wraz z jej wdrażaniem. Dążąc do znalezienia odpowiednich, miarodajnych danych do badań, warto sięgnąć po wskaźniki składające się na European Innovation Scoreboard 2021 i prześledzić dynamikę zmian dobranych wskaźników w ostatnich kilku latach. Wyniki otrzymane w ten sposób napawają nadzieją na ich pomyślny rozwój w przyszłości i pomnażanie się postaw wspierających zarówno różnorodność, jak i rozwój technologiczny, wspierających innowacyjność, kreatywność. We współczesnym świecie, trapionym przez liczne kryzysy, są to kluczowe aspekty.

Innovation is seen as a key factor contributing to the competitiveness of organizations and the economy, resulting in development. Invariably important research problem is also the diagnosis of factors hindering the conduct of innovative activities. One of the internal conditions influencing innovation are diversity and technical development. Diversity, in other words: teamwork and quality of staff, is a value increasingly desirable by modern enterprises and necessary for their development. However, when combining innovation with technology, it is worth emphasizing that the very concept of innovation can be understood not only as a process involving all activities related to the transformation of an idea or idea into a new product, but also into a new technology along with its implementation. In order to find appropriate, reliable data, it is worth reaching for the indicators that make up the European Innovation Scoreboard 2021 so as to trace the dynamics of the changes seen in the same selected indicators over the course of the last few years. The results obtained in this way give hope for their successful development in the future and the multiplication of attitudes supporting both diversity and development, supporting innovation and creativity. In the modern world, plagued by numerous crises, these are key aspects.
