In the age of the dynamic development of international relations, especially in economics and law, it is essential to train students of neophilological departments in translation of specialist texts. The article presents the place and role of specialist texts taking philological studies, especially occupational translatorics departments, as an examples. Specialist texts may be translated during taught caurses designed for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Especially postgraduate students are linguistically well prepared to take additional classes in order to improve their skills in translation of specialist texts. Moreover, by taking the additional classes, the students may broaden their interest in economics, law, medicine etc. and improve specialist knowledge. They may also acquire additional (apart from factual and linguistic) competence, i.e. terminological and textual. The article presents certain important issues concerning training of university staff teaching translation of specialist text, which needs to be discussed by Germanists. It is also essential to pay attention to extralinguistic knowledge of lecturers in translation of specialist texts and the quality of their extralingustic knowledge.

The article is an attempt to describe the phenomenon of ‘knowledge reconstruction' meant as understanding a sender's text by a receiver. Texts excerpted from two well-known publications on economics by P. Kotler, P. Samuelson and W. Nordhaus and their Polish and Russian translations served as empirical material for the study. The research was based on analysis of so-called conceptual (semantic) network in the original text and its transfer in translated texts. The author distinguishes complete transfer (complete ‘mapping') or modification (extended or narrowed network). The other part of the research is the problem of content transformation in target-language text. The author finds several forms of content transformation (content amplification, content simplification and content destruction), exemplified by particular sentences. Statistical data on the examined texts is given in conclusion to the article.

This article deals with the translation of the chosen terms in Discipline and punish by Michel Foucault, translated into Polish by Tadeusz Komendant. It also characterizes it as a scientific text. This characterisation and the analysis of the chosen terms reveal that a scientific text may possess characteristics of other text types, which proves the existence of text types fluidity.

Artykuł omawia tłumaczenia wybranej terminologii Nadzorować i karać (tłum. Tadeusz Komendant) Michela Foucault, a także podejmuje charakterystykę pracy jako tekstu naukowego. Ta charakterystyka oraz analizowane pojęcia dowodzą jednak, że tekst naukowy może wykazywać również cechy innych typów tekstów, co dowodzi ich płynności gatunkowej.

The aim of the article was to answer the question about the place of didactic evaluation in the academic education system (taking into account different types of academic discourse: didactic and legal-administrative) and about the reasons for difficulties connected with introducing new evaluation practices into academic teaching. A detailed lexical-semantic and textual analysis concerned three specialist terms: “evaluation” (of knowledge, skills, competencies), “assessment” (of learning outcomes), “validation” (of qualifications).

This article constitutes the second part of my paper entitled “Didactics of the ‘language of economics’ (I). …”, published in the previous volume. The aim of this part is to characterize (didactic) economics texts with particular focus on their genres and components. Additionally, I will present a few remarks on the effective methods of teaching the language of economics. All the meta-analyses shown here have been conducted on the basis of German and – to a lesser degree – Polish and Russian literature.
