Set in the southern part of Cracow and Częstochowa Jura, the Prądnik Valley has for many years been a very popular tourist destination. In 1956, the middle part of the Prądnik Valley was earmarked to become the Ojców National Park. At present it is estimated that about 400,000 people visit the Park every year. The main tourist attraction of this area is the landscape with its many natural and cultural assets. The article includes the results of questionnaire research conducted in the summer season of 2008. The questionnaire asked tourists and visitors to assess the Prądnik Valley landscape and indicate its most interesting elements. They were supposed to choose one item from the list of the most important attractions, both natural and cultural. The interpretation of the results shows that the majority of respondents consider the Prądnik Valley landscape to be “attractive” (53%) or even “very attractive” (38%). The visitors indicated that the most interesting element of the landscape was the topography with its rock forms (68%), nature (14%), and architectural monuments (12%). According to 39% of respondents, the impressive rock formation called the Club of Hercules (Maczuga Herkulesa) in Pieskowa Skała is the symbol of the Ojców National Park. Another interesting finding is that cultural elements – especially the castles in Pieskowa Skała and Ojców – are also often associated with the Park. This shows that the great value of the Ojców National Park resides in its harmonious combination of natural and cultural assets. This rich heritage should undoubtedly be protected while also being made accessible to visitors in a responsible way.

The article presents various aspects of the tourist offer and the size of demand in the Romanian Carpathians. Although the infrastructure and entertainment opportunities there are not as developed as the country’s Black Sea or balneal spa regions, the mountains do offer a variety of colourful ways to spend time, including walking, resting, winter sports, treatment and rehabilitation, trails, alpine activities, and speleological tourism, sometimes accompanied by a rich history. The potential for tourism afforded by the region’s nature is presented at the beginning of the article, followed by the anthropogenic features of the area. The second part discusses the infrastructure, including the currently existing equipment in the mountains. The trails and ski lifts that enjoy such great interest are described, and the situation in alpine tourism is discussed in the light of comparative data including the actual number of people lodging (both Romanians and foreigners), the number of lodgings, the length of visit, and so forth. In the last year of the research, 2006, the region saw clear growth in earnings from tourism. We can hope that, given the country’s current political situation, which is improving the country’s image, the growing care for the level of service quality, and the promotion of Romania as an international tourist destination, the growth will continue in the future.

The aim of the paper is to analyse the incoming tourist traffic to Turkey in recent years as well as dependence of its volume on the unstable political and economic situation of the country and on the occurring terrorist attacks. In her paper, the author assumed that young Poles’ decisions on a trip to Turkey depend on the frequency of occurrence of socio-political conflicts and symptoms of terrorism in this country. The research was carried out by the method of a sample diagnostic survey with the use of a questionnaire. The data analysis shows that after the crisis decline in tourism in 2016, the situation slowly returns to normal. Turkey has been visited already by 27% of foreign tourists more. On the other hand, the survey findings indicate that young people, despite they are daring, spontaneous and liking feeling adrenaline, while choosing the place for rest, pay a great deal of attention to the risk of terrorist threat. The respondents perceive Turkey as a country very attractive in tourism terms whose attractiveness is decided mainly by the climate conducive to rest and adequate tourist values. More importantly, during their stay in Turkey, the respondents felt secure, inter alia, owing to the more intense and apparent patrols of relevant services; however, a large group of respondents would have resigned from a repeated trip to this country at the time of uncertain and unstable political situation, even at the expense of a very attractive in price offer.
