This paper presents an original approach to the problem of the optimal stiffness evaluation in a suspension of driver seat for the best reduction of human vibration (whole-body vibration). The basic idea is to take into consideration the individual personal features (biomechanical parameters) of a human being in the process of vibrations assessment. In this article the author presents a complete system to the influence analysis of suspension stiffness on driver vibrations. It consists of the following subsystems: biomechanical model of human representing a specific driver, model of seat with suspension and adjustable spring, model of vehicle, subsystem of road excitation and module for signals processing. The actual research has focused on numerical simulations in the environment Matlab-Simulink-SimMechanics.

The paper presents the issue of vibrations in residential buildings located near roads. It describes the measurement methodology and criteria for assessing the impact of vibrations generated by passing trucks. The article specifies a method to establish the impact on the operation of the examined facilities and it promotes the idea of employing a Bayesian network to determine probabilistically the level of risk to single-family houses.

A method is proposed for estimating the pitch strength of sounds by measuring the proportion of correct recognitions of their musical pitch (chroma) by expert listeners possessing full absolute pitch. Full absolute pitch (AP) is the ability of some musicians to preserve in their long-term auditory memory the pitch templates of the twelve chromatic tones of the contemporary music system (C, C#, D... etc.) based on the frequency A4 = 440 Hz. This ability is preserved across different octaves in most of the musical pitch scale. Five expert AP listeners, in individual, computer-run sessions, were asked to identify and name the pitch chromas of short tone pulses cut out of twelve sinusoidal vibrations corresponding to the chromatic scale C5 - B5 (523.3 - 987.8 Hz). These tone pulses were composed of n cycles. The value of n was 4, 8, and 16, and so the total number of stimuli investigated was 12 x 3 = 36. All these stimuli were presented in random order to the five AP listeners in a single test, which was run twenty-six times in consecutive sessions (the results of the first session were not used in computations). The results show an increase in correct chroma recognition (and consequently of the pitch strength of a pulse), with n rising from 4 to 16. At n = 4 or 8, the results show also a dependence of chroma recognition on the total pulse duration. Thus, for tone pulses with a low number of cycles (at n=4 and 8), the pitch strength diminishes with increasing pitch and is different in neighbouring parts of a withinoctave musical scale. The discovery of these differences may indicate the relatively high precision of the newly-presented method in estimating the pitch strength of musical sounds.

Szczegółowy opis przeprowadzonych analiz oraz wyniki badań w zakresie pojazdu grupy N10 zawarte są w artykule: „The Problem and Analysis of Vibrations Appearing in an N10 Group Military Vehicle Fitted with a Manually-Operated Armament Module” opublikowanym w kwartalniku Problems of Mechatronics Armament, Aviation, Safety Engineering.

This article is a continuation of work aimed to identify vibrations. It contains the results of tests, calculations, and analyses in the field of vibrations occurring on the elements of equipment of the N10 group tracked vehicle and the N11 group armored wheeled vehicle (classification according to NO-06-A103:2005) equipped with manually operated weapon systems. A detailed description of the analyses carried out, and the results of the research on the N10 group vehicle are contained in the article: "The Problem and Analysis of Vibrations Appearing in an N10 Group Military Vehicle Fitted with a Manually-Operated Armament Module" published in the quarterly Problems of Mechatronics Armament, Aviation, Safety Engineering. This study thoroughly presents the test results and their analysis for the N11 group vehicle and only recalls the results of similar tests and analyses for the N10 group vehicle for comparison. The research aimed to get acquainted with the characteristics of vibrations occurring in stabilized turret systems (weapon system) and devices supplying turret systems in terms of amplitudes, practical values, and their energy for various operating conditions. The analyses were carried out concerning the requirements of the Polish defense standard NO-06-A103:2005 and MIL-STD-810F regarding the correctness of their application.

Background. The aim of the study was to compare attitudes of children with hearing impairment towards dance lessons with the use of vibrating headphones, i.e. the Audiva High Pitch Training System to their attitudes towards physical education classes (PE) with elements of gymnastics, athletics, volleyball and basketball. Material and methods. The sample included 14 children aged 11.3 ± 1.0 years (min. 9 years, 8 months; max. 13 years, 5 months) with perceptive type of hearing impairment attending educational centers for deaf children in Poznan. The experimental group consisted of 8 female and 6 male pupils. Twice a week the children took part in dance lessons with the application of the Audiva High Pitch Training System – headphones which enable the subject to experience “bone hearing” through vibrations, and twice a week they attended PE classes. In order to measure the pupils attitudes towards PE lessons, the Baumgartner and Jackson Questionnaire was used. The measurements were made by single assessment of every type of PE classes (dance, gymnastics, athletics, volleyball and basketball). Results. Dance lessons with music and vibrating headphones had no higher emotional value for female students with hearing impairment than other types of PE classes. At the same time dance lessons were evaluated by girls as more intense and activating them more than the lessons of gymnastics. For male students dance lessons had lower emotional value than gymnastics, basketball and athletics. Boys also assessed dance lessons as less intense than the lessons of athletics. Conclusions. Obtained results proved that dance lessons had no higher emotional value for hearing-impaired children compared to other PE lessons. However, dance lessons with the use of vibrating headphones the Audiva High Pitch Trainig System may be a way to intensify PE for girls.

The expansion of the road network in Poland and in world constitutes a considerable risk for the natural environment, this article is showing the most important effects of road investments, for example: pollutants of atmospheric air, the noise and vibrations, pollutants of waters and soils, the fragmentation of the space and the decline of the landscape. Everything is leading it for destroying the environment in which we live. Describing all threats to the environment with themselves a structure and an exploitation of roads are bringing which, is practically impossible, the man in the last years very much is interfering in the nature, instead of to protect it for next generations, therefore designers and entrepreneurs should concentrate on eliminating negative effects of construction and the more late exploitation of roads and for improvement in their technical state.
