The article is for an overview. It presents the issues of vocational rehabilitation of people with disabilities on the example of vocational development centers. Th work is based on publications about vocational development centers from the last ten years. Th purpose of the article is to present the current state of functioning of vocational development centers as one of the contemporary forms of professional activation of disabled people in Poland. Th social, legal and organizational aspects of the activity of vocational development centers were analyzed, with particular reference to the local labor market of the Lublin Voivodeship.

Artykuł ma charakter przeglądowy. Zaprezentowano problematykę rehabilitacji zawodowej osób niepełnosprawnych na przykładzie zakładów aktywności zawodowej. Praca opiera się na publikacjach o zakładach aktywizacji zawodowej z ostatnich dziesięciu lat. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie aktualnego stanu funkcjonowania zakładów aktywności zawodowej jako jednej ze współczesnych form aktywizacji zawodowej osób niepełnosprawnych w Polsce. Analizie poddano społeczne, prawne i organizacyjne aspekty działania zakładów aktywności zawodowej ze szczególnym odniesieniem się do lokalnego rynku pracy województwa lubelskiego.

The aim of the article was to present the results and conclusions of research on the developmental changes in locus of control among contemporary youth in the phase of early adolescence experiencing transformations of education system in Poland. The analysis constitute a summary of the first two, from the planned three, longitudinal research stages. The presented results are based on the yearly measurement of the locus of control in two groups of students: a group from primary schools, which is the first to implement extended education in primary schools – respectively in sixth and seventh grades, and students from extinguished junior high schools – in first and second grades. Locus of generalized control and separately in the situations of successes and failures were assessed on the basis of the Questionnaire for the Survey of Sense of Control (Kwestionariusz do Badania Poczucia Kontroli) KBPK and KBPK-R. Differences in developmental changes of locus of control between students in primary and junior high schools were analyzed. The results indicated that during two years of research internal locus of control increased in both groups of students, but primary school students had significantly higher internal tendency of feeling responsibility for events especially in case of successful situations. Additional analysis including gender revealed an increase in girls’ generalized locus of control and in locus of control of failures in the group of junior high school boys.

Celem artykułu było przedstawienie wyników i wniosków z badań dotyczących zmian rozwojowych poczucia kontroli wśród współczesnej młodzieży w okresie wczesnej adolescencji doświadczającej przekształceń systemu edukacji w Polsce. Analizy stanowią podsumowanie pierwszych dwóch, z zaplanowanych trzech, etapów badań podłużnych. Prezentowane wyniki odnoszą się do powtarzanego co rok pomiaru poczucia kontroli w dwóch grupach uczniów: rocznika ze szkół podstawowych, który jako pierwszy realizuje wydłużoną naukę w szkole podstawowej – w klasie szóstej i siódmej, oraz uczniów, którzy stanowią rocznik wygaszający naukę w gimnazjach – w klasie pierwszej i drugiej. Poczucie kontroli zgeneralizowane oraz w sytuacjach sukcesów i porażek zostało ustalone na podstawie Kwestionariusza do Badania Poczucia Kontroli KBPK i KBPK-R. W badaniach sprawdzono, jakie różnice wystąpiły w zakresie zmian rozwojowych poczucia kontroli między uczniami szkół podstawowych i gimnazjów. Wyniki pokazały, że na przełomie dwóch lat badań w obu grupach uczniów wzrosło wewnętrzne poczucie kontroli, jednak to uczniowie szkół podstawowych charakteryzują się istotnie wyższym wewnętrznym przypisywaniem sobie odpowiedzialności za zdarzenia, szczególnie w sytuacjach sukcesów. Dodatkowe analizy uwzględniające płeć ujawniły wzrost zgeneralizowanego poczucia kontroli u dziewcząt oraz wewnętrznej kontroli w sytuacjach porażek u chłopców z gimnazjum.

The presented research concerns the psychological analysis of the youth value system during early adolescence. The research was conducted on students at two different stages of education: primary school and junior high school. A total of 910 students were examined across 9 schools in Lublin. Two parallel groups were established, with 455 students in each group. The Polish adaptation of the “Picture-Based Value Survey for Children” test (PBVS-Cv2) by Cieciuch and Harasimczuk, based on the theory of values by Schwartz, was used. The examined groups revealed statistically significant differences regarding three categories of values: tradition, conformity, and power. Junior high-school students, unlike sixth-graders, attributed higher importance to social status, prestige and exerting control over people and resources. In turn, primary school students were more eager to demonstrate a respect for and an acceptance of the norms and principles which are important in society and crucial for the cultivation of traditions. The findings are discussed in the context of developmental changes in the psychosocial functioning of adolescents concerning contemporary transformations in the education system. This research is the first stage of a longitudinal research project planned for the next three years. The final results will hopefully demonstrate developmental changes in the structure of values in early adolescence.

Zaprezentowane w artykule badania dotyczą psychologicznej analizy systemu wartości młodzieży w okresie wczesnej adolescencji. Analizy przeprowadzono wśród uczniów będących na dwóch etapach edukacji: szkoły podstawowej i gimnazjum. Przebadano łącznie 910 osób uczących się w dziewięciu lubelskich szkołach. Utworzono dwie równoliczne, po 455 uczniów, grupy. W badaniach zastosowano polską adaptację testu Picture-Based Value Survey for Children (PBVS-Cv2) autorstwa Cieciucha i Harasimczuk, opartą na teorii wartości Schwartza. Między badanymi grupami ujawniły się istotne statystycznie różnice w zakresie trzech kategorii wartości: Tradycji, Przystosowania i Władzy. Młodzież gimnazjalna w odróżnieniu od szóstoklasistów bardziej ceni wartości dotyczące statusu i prestiżu społecznego oraz sprawowania kontroli nad ludźmi i zasobami. Z kolei uczniowie szkół podstawowych preferują wartości związane z szacunkiem i akceptacją norm oraz zasad ważnych w społeczeństwie, a także z kultywowaniem tradycji. Uzyskane wyniki są dyskutowane w kontekście rozwojowych zmian w psychospołecznym funkcjonowaniu młodzieży przy uwzględnieniu współczesnych przemian w obszarze edukacji. Badania stanowią pierwszy etap zaplanowanego na trzy lata projektu badań podłużnych, którego wyniki pozwolą wnioskować o zmianach rozwojowych w zakresie kształtowania się struktury systemu wartości w okresie wczesnej adolescencji.

This paper presents an analysis of the personality traits and value preferences of Polish early adolescent students. Participants were 775 adolescents between 12-14 years (53% girls; Mage= 13.01; SD= 0.81), who completed two surveys: Picture-Based Personality Survey for Children and PictureBased Value Survey for Children. Fourteen-year-old adolescents preferred more Power values and less Tradition and Conformity values than 12- and 13-year-olds. They were also less open to experience and conscientious than their younger counterparts. 14-year-old girls had a stronger preference for Power and Achievement values and a weaker preference for Conformity values than 12-year-old girls. 14-year-old boys preferred more Traditional values than 12-year-old boys. Both 14-year-old girls and boys were less conscientious than the younger adolescents. A regression analysis with an interaction effect indicated that each age group had different relationships between gender and personality traits and their interactions with the particular value categories. The results are discussed in the context of possible practical rearing influence aimed at supporting young, preferred values and personality development in the context of education.

The aim of this article is to analyze the relationship between the assessment of RPG player’s own body and the appearance of the character created by the player in the wizard of this game. An exploratory study was carried out using two questionnaires: the Body-Esteem Scale by Franzoi and Shields (1984) in the Polish adaptation of Lipowska and Lipowski (2013) and the authentic Characters Body Assessment. 122 participants aged 18 to 39 were examined: 52 women and 70 men. The results of the study indicated statistically significant correlations in the male group in terms of similarity of the assessment of their bodies to the created character of the RPG game. The higher the men rated their bodies regarding physical attractiveness, body weight and physical condition, the more the characters they created in the game were similar to them. The article is an encouragement to explore the issue of game creators.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza związku oceny własnego ciała dokonanej przez osobę grającą w grę RPG z wyglądem tworzonej przez nią postaci w kreatorze tej gry. Przeprowadzono badanie eksploracyjne z zastosowaniem dwóch kwestionariuszy: Skali Oceny Ciała autorstwa Franzoi i Shields (1984) w polskiej adaptacji Lipowskiej i Lipowskiego (2013) oraz autorskiego narzędzia do Oceny Ciała Postaci. Przebadane zostały 122 osoby w wieku od 18 do 39 lat, w tym 52 kobiety i 70 mężczyzn. Wyniki badań wykazały istotne statystycznie korelacje w grupie mężczyzn w zakresie podobieństwa oceny własnego ciała do tworzonej postaci w grze RPG. Oznacza to, że im wyżej mężczyźni oceniali swoje ciało w zakresie atrakcyjności fizycznej, masy ciała i kondycji fizycznej, tym bardziej postacie tworzone przez nich w grze RPG cechowały się podobieństwem do nich. Artykuł stanowi zachętę do eksploracji zagadnienia kreatorów postaci gier RPG.

The study aims to investigate relationships between various dimensions of locus of control and hope for success. 495 secondary school students aged 14 to 16 (Mage = 15.54, SD = 0.53) were surveyed. Hope for success was measured using Łaguna et al.’s Questionnaire of Hope for Success. Locus of control was assessed using the Questionnaire of Locus of Control. The results indicate that the two variables are interrelated. The present findings can be used in designing educational activities to support secondary school students’ sense of agency.

The aim of the present study was to analyse the personality traits and value preferences of students from integrated and non-integrated classes. Sixty-nine primary school sixth graders were surveyed (M = 12.45; SD = .58). The group of students attending integrated classes included 38 individuals. The remaining 31 students attended non-integrated classrooms. Personality traits were measured using the Picture-Based Personality Survey for Children (PBPS-C ) and value preferences were determined on the basis of the Picture-Based Value Survey for Children (PBVS-C). The results showed that youth from the integrated classes did not differ significantly from their peers from the non-integrated classes in terms of personality traits. In case of values, students from the non-integrated classes cherished values of Universalism more than their peers from the integrated classes. Correlation analyses showed that the patterns of relations between personality traits and preferred values were partially different for the two groups. Nevertheless, a similar pattern of relations was observed in both groups between Openness to Experience and values in the categories of Self-direction and Universalism.

The article presents the results of research on the locus of control in early adolescence among students from two different stages of education: primary school and junior high school, participating currently in the education system transformations. The results are a summary of the first stage of a longitudinal project concerning the development of some personality variables among students. 1015 adolescents were examined with Locus of Control Questionnaire (Krasowicz-Kupis, Kurzyp-Wojnarska, 1990), in the school year 2016/2017. The results indicate an indefinite locus of control in situations of successes, failures and in generalized locus of control. The locus of control is shifted significantly more towards external control in students from junior high school, compared to primary school students and it pertains to successes, failures and generalized locus of control. Boys from primary schools are significantly more internal as regards successes and generalized locus of control compared to boys from junior high schools.

It discusses issues which are particularly important from the point of view of the skills and tools used by psychologists, educational specialists, teachers and tutors in their daily work with gifted children and adolescents. The problems described include diagnosis of giftedness in education, types of educational support provided to the gifted, and the requirements placed on teachers of gifted students. A particular emphasis is put on the contemporary research-related and practical challenges faced by gifted support specialists in schools.
