Rozwój przestrzenny Łęcznej jako ośrodka Lubelskiego Zagłębia Węglowego

The aim of the paper is to present the spatial development of Łęczna as a center of the Lublin Coal Basin against the background of attempts to control the city development by means of legal acts in various socio-economic conditions, from the 1970s until 2017. The main source materials were archival documents regarding the planned construction of the Lublin Coal Basin, local spatial development plans and data on the registration of buildings in the city of Łęczna. The article presents the main directions of spatial development, as a result of which the main point of the city was moved from the Old Town areas to the newly-created central areas. The analysis was conducted using GIS tools and statistical methods to present changes in the purpose of the area and the character of the city’s development. The analysis of the data showed that the expansion of buildings in the city space took place in a planned manner. This made it possible to minimize spatial confl icts within the city. As a result of dynamic spatial changes, the newly built multi-storey building has become the dominant form of the city’s development.

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie mechanizmów rozwoju przestrzennego Łęcznej jako ośrodka Lubelskiego Zagłębia Węglowego na tle prób sterowania rozwojem miasta za pomocą aktów prawnych w różnych uwarunkowaniach społeczno-gospodarczych, w okresie od lat siedemdziesiątych XX w. do 2017 r. W pracy ukazane zostały główne kierunki rozwoju przestrzennego, w wyniku którego przeniesiony został punkt ciężkości miasta z terenów staromiejskich na nowo powstałe tereny centralne. W pracy wykorzystano analizę przy użyciu narzędzi GIS i metody statystyczne w celu przedstawienia zmian przeznaczenia terenu oraz charakteru zabudowy Łęcznej. Analiza danych wykazała, że ekspansja trwałego zainwestowania na obszarze miasta odbywała się w sposób planowy. Umożliwiło to zminimalizowanie konfl iktów przestrzennych na terenie miasta. W wyniku dynamicznych zmian przestrzennych nowo powstała zabudowa wielokondygnacyjna stała się dominującą formą zabudowy Łęcznej.
