Inflection of Polish place names is a new topic in the Polish language curriculum. In the article I discuss the basic problems with the teaching of the subject in school practice (e.g. Considerable grammatical diversity and irregularity of the names, relatively low number of teaching aids) and propose basic objectives as well as examples of methods used when working with the names of Polish towns and villages. The main objective is not just to develop grammatical competence; it is also about, perhaps above all, developing logical thinking as well as the ability to deal with difficulties (using reliable sources of information). Exercises with Polish place names can teach analysis, reasoning, spotting differences and similarities, and using analogies. They should also encourage the use of place names in various texts.

Artykuł przedstawia wyniki analiz ośmiu programów komputerowych do nauki języka polskiego w gimnazjum i liceum. Pod uwagę wzięto m.in. ilość słowa (tekstu) w badanych multimediach, jego funkcje oraz relacje z innymi formami przekazu (obraz statyczny, obraz ruchomy, dźwięk), jak również to, czy i w jakim stopniu wykorzystano możliwości „słowa elektronicznego” (takie jego cechy, których nie posiada słowo „papierowe”). Badania wykazały, że w większości programów edukacyjnych warstwa tekstowa jest dominująca, nadrzędna, niemal samowystarczalna. Inne formy przekazu były stosunkowo nieliczne i wykorzystywane głównie ornamentacyjnie. Pomoce komputerowe niewystarczająco korzystały też z niepowtarzalnych możliwości komputera i formy elektronicznej słowa (np. mobilność danych, multimedialność, hipertekstowość).

The aim of this article is to present the primary types of autothematic media information and its non-informative functions as well as the objects and methods of linguistic valuation in the messages. Information about the reception of a media offering, information about rewards and successes of a medium, information about non-media undertakings of media broadcasters, and information about an offering were distinguished based on content analysis. By means of a semantic and pragmatic analysis of the expressions used, it was ascertained that the media broadcaster itself is rarely the object of valuation, whereas the events organised by the medium, messages included in its offering, the invited guests and recipients are eagerly granted positive valuations. The overarching value is the positive relationship between the medium and others, the valuation is normally overt and intensive, and the examined messages perform various kinds of promotional tasks.

W artykule są analizowane tytuły audycji radiowych zawierających nazwy rozgłośni. Celem analiz było ustalenie, jakich technik formalnych używa się, by umieścić nazwę stacji w tytule audycji; w jakim celu się to robi i które cechy współczesnego radia są w ten sposób eksponowane. Zbadano zawartość ramówek ok. 120 stacji różnego typu z całej Polski.

This article presents the analysis of radio broadcast containing the names of radio stations. The goal is to indicate what formal techniques are used to place the name of the radio station in the title of the radio broadcast. Moreover, attempt is being made to evidence what are the techniques to emphasise the name of the radio station in this way. Conclusions are being drawn on the basis of 120 radio stations and their broadcast services.

The introduction regarded as a very important part of a text, having a considerable impact on its persuasive power and substantive value. In the article I examine how pupils cope with creating this part of their texts in an argumentative form known as short essay. The research material was made up of around 100 essays on several topics, written by first form pupils from various kinds of post-secondary schools. The analyses focused on the content of the introductions, their links to the objective of each essay, the topic and main part of the text. They demonstrate that most introductions are weak in terms of their content and pragmatics; often their only significant component is a thesis (though this is not always the case either). After presenting the results of the analyses, I point to the possible causes of this unsatisfactory state of affairs.

The purpose of the paper is to show the usefulness of profiling notions as a tool for mediolinguistic research – making it possible to compare media pictures of the world in a more in-depth, precise and systematic way. As an example of implementing the method, differences concerning linguistic portrayal of the Polish government have been presented between “Wiadomości” TVP 1 and “Fakty” TVN in the period September–November 2019.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie przydatności koncepcji profilowania pojęć jako narzędzia badań mediolingwistycznych – pozwala ono porównywać medialne obrazy świata w sposób (bardziej) dogłębny, precyzyjny i uporządkowany. Jako przykład zastosowania metody przedstawiono odmienność językowego obrazowania polskiego rządu w Wiadomościach TVP 1 i w Faktach TVN-u w okresie od września do listopada 2019 roku.
