The paper shows the changes in the meaning of the word pomocnik (a helper). This lexeme has always existed in the Polish language, but it referred only to people in Old Polish. In later times, it started to be used as the name of plants and the animals that helped the police or disabled people. Now the meaning is much broader. Additionally, the word pomocnik can refer to any object which helps us do something.

The object of the analysis presented in this paper is five pairs of structures, composed of a correct synthetic structure and a corresponding analytic structure, which is disapproved of in terms of prescriptivism yet occurring quite frequently in utterances by contemporary language users. Due to subtle semantic differences between the synthetic and analytic forms, the latter one is beginning to win the speakers’ approval and is slowly being absorbed by the language system. The process is evidence of the intensifying tendency for analysation of the Polish language, which was observed already in the 16th-century texts and is a source of the increasing number of syntactic synonyms today.

The article is the result of a case study analysis of MyPiS.pl social networking portal created in 2010. It indicates the reasons of running by representatives of the Law and Justice's own social media channel, in the era of so dynamic development of social networking portals like Facebook, Twitter or Our Class. It explains the idea that accompanied the creation of MyPiS.pl, and the result of its transformation within the first months of working. And finally, it pays attention to the mechanisms that worked to the disadvantage of the portal and led to it’s collapse. In order to create the article the method of analysis the archival content available in Internet resources was used.

New prepositional analytic constructions in contemporary PolishThis paper presents pairs of structures in which one structure is a correct synthetic phrase and the other is a corresponding analytic structure that is incorrect according to contemporary dictionaries. The latter are nevertheless used because speakers notice subtle differences between the synthetic and analytic forms. As a result, one structure cannot be replaced with the other in all contexts. The process of replacing synthetic structures with analytic ones is evidence of the intensifying tendency towards analyzation in Polish. This process has been observed in all periods of the history of the Polish language. Nowe przyimkowe konstrukcje analityczne we współczesnej polszczyźnieTematem artykułu są pary konstrukcji, z których pierwsza jest syntetyczna, druga – analityczna. Wszystkie opisywane formy analityczne są niezgodne z normą, a mimo to wielu użytkowników wybiera je zamiast połączeń syntetycznych. Funkcjonowanie w języku dwóch niemal identycznych struktur syntetycznej i analitycznej może być spowodowane subtelną różnicą znaczeniową między nimi. Proces ten jest dowodem działania tendencji analitycznej w polszczyźnie, obserwowanej we wszystkich okresach rozwoju języka polskiego.

Wyraźne rozróżnienie między źródłami medialnymi a elektoratami w ramach ekosystemu mediów tradycyjnych może pomóc wyjaśnić ograniczone znaczenie mediów alternatywnych (skoncentrowanych na fałszywych wiadomościach i mistyfikacjach) jako istotnych źródeł informacji. W dyskursie politycznym i analitycznym alternatywne media mogą być postrzegane jako „alternatywa” dla dominujących liberalnych mediów i dyskursu. W tym kontekście premier Mateusz Morawiecki i wicepremier Jarosław Kaczyński aktywnie „polubili” inne profile na swoich stronach FB. Morawiecki polubił niektóre media, głównie kanały telewizyjne i radiowe ze swojego okręgu wyborczego. Skupił się przy tym bardziej na tożsamości narodowej i interesach narodowych w sensie ekonomicznym. Spodobał mu się jednak również magazyn prasowy, który jest przypadkiem granicznym między ideologicznie mocno stronniczą a dezinformacyjną sceną w Polsce.

A clear differentiation between media sources and electorates within the legacy media ecosystem may help to explain the limited importance of the alternative media (focused on fake news and hoaxes) as relevant information sources. In a political and analytical discourse, the alternative media can be seen as an “alternative” to the dominant liberal media and discourse. Within this context, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński were active in “liking” other profiles on their FB pages. Morawiecki liked some media, mostly TV and radio channels from his constituency region. His focus was more on the national identity and national interests in an economic sense. However, he also liked a press magazine that is a borderline case between ideologically heavily biased and disinformation scene in Poland.
