This article examines the nature of the electricity market in Lithuania. It is especially important to study the energy balance of Lithuania. The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the degree of dependence of the Lithuanian economy on energy imports and the effect of this dependence on the country’s energy security.

W artykule przedstawiono w ogólnym zarysie rynek energii elektrycznej na Litwie. Opierając się na literaturze przedmiotu oraz danych źródłowych, opisano istotne cechy, sposoby pozyskania energii elektrycznej. Bilans energetyczny Litwy został podany szczegółowej analizie, ponieważ jest podstawowym narzędziem określającym stopień samowystarczalności energetycznej kraju. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwala na sformułowanie wniosków dotyczących bezpieczeństwa energetycznego Litwy.

W artykule przedstawiono w ogólnym zarysie współpracę gospodarczą Litwy z Białorusią w latach 2004-2012. Opierając się na dokumentach źródłowych, opisano istotne czynniki kształtujące tę współpracę, która uległa szczególnej zmianie po przystąpieniu Litwy do Unii Europejskiej. Handel zagraniczny oraz inwestycje zostały poddane szczegółowej analizie, ponieważ są podstawowym narzędziem określającym stopień współpracy gospodarczej między krajami. Przeprowadzona analiza uprawniła do sformułowania wniosków odnośnie do perspektyw litewsko-białoruskiej współpracy.

In their article, the authors presented in outline the economic cooperation between Lithuania and Belarus in the years 2004-2012. Based on the source documents, they described the important factors shaping that cooperation which has particularly been transformed upon Lithuania’s accession to the European Union. Foreign trade and investments were analysed in details as they are the basic tool determining the degree of economic cooperation between countries. The carried out analysis has entitled to formulate the conclusions as to the perspectives of Lithuanian-Belarussian cooperation.
