This article presents the problems of social ethics as seen by Jan Piwowarczyk. Catholic social ethics belongs to the philosophical and theological sciences. It is a science which, among other things, establishes the principles of social life in accordance with the principles of morality – thus making moral value judgements. Judging any activity requires a benchmark: in this case, a general principle of morality. Therefore, the most essential element, and at the same time the most difficult to determine, is precisely the creation of a general principle in society, which at the same time acts as a criterion for what is morally good and what is morally bad.

Artykuł przedstawia problemy etyki społecznej w ujęciu Jana Piwowarczyka. Katolicka etyka społeczna należy do nauk filozoficznych i teologicznych. Jest nauką, która między innymi ustala zasady życia społecznego zgodne z zasadami moralności – wydaje więc sądy wartościujące moralnie. Aby jakąkolwiek działalność oceniać, potrzebny do tego jest miernik, czyli w tym przypadku, ogólna zasada moralności. Dlatego najistotniejszym elementem, a jednocześnie najtrudniejszym do określenia jest właśnie ukształtowanie w społeczeństwie ogólnej zasady, która pełni zarazem kryterium tego, co moralnie dobre, i tego, co moralnie złe.

The article presents the issue of work that is an extremely importantvalue in human life in ethical terms. Work is not only a source of income,it is also a value that allows the individual to develop themself. It is worth emphasizingthat work does not only produce material goods, but also introducesvaluable and intended changes in the environment. Working persons shouldhave a sense of their own dignity or personality, be aware of the responsibilityand freedom they have, and be aware of humanity quite often subjectedto the test of time in work phenomena. In the final part, I presented the researchon whether work is of value for people.

Artykuł prezentuje zagadnienie pracy stanowiącej niezwykleważną wartość w życiu człowieka w etycznym ujęciu. Praca nie jest tylko źródłemosiągania przychodów, to również wartość pozwalająca jednostce na samorozwój.Warto podkreślić, że poprzez pracę wytwarza się nie tylko dobramaterialne, ale także wprowadza się wartościowe oraz zamierzone zmianyw otoczeniu. Osoby pracujące powinny mieć poczucie własnej godności czyosobowości, być świadome odpowiedzialności i wolności, którą posiadają orazzdawać sobie sprawę z człowieczeństwa, dość często poddawanego próbie czasuw procesie pracy.
