The innovation of the regions economy is the making of development of regions. An important element of the economic competitiveness of regions is also the cooperation of businesses between them and with scientific circles. The development of cooperative networks depends mainly on the will of companies and their mutual trust. The creating and developing cooperation links of świętokrzyskie firms should not be the strongest in the country. Świętokrzyskie companies have, so far, limited and inconsistent business partnerships. This situation presents an important barrier to the development of the regional innovation system.

W gminach wiejskich woj. świętokrzyskiego jakość życia się podnosi, niemniej jednak występują znaczące dysproporcje w obiektywnej ocenie jakości życia.

The aim of this article is to diagnose and evaluate selected aspects of the objective quality of life in rural gminas of Świętokrzyskie voivodship. An attempt was made to determine spatial differences in the quality of life in 2010 and 2015, using the taxonomic method and cluster analysis. The subject of the survey were rural gminas, where the quality of life analysis is carried out much less frequently than in the case of urban gminas, whereas these units are characterised by significant disproportions in the quality of life within the voivodship. In rural gminas of Świętokrzyskie voivodship the quality of life is improving, however, there are significant disproportions in the objective evaluation of the quality of life.

What is the connection between photography and reality? Do we have to choose between describing photography in terms of the process of its production or questioning its reference to reality, as Barthes argues? Jonathan Friday suggests a similar alternative, which is however constructed on a different methodological level. He argues that photography can be described on the basis of two types of representation: Albertian and Keplerian. First one refers to a fictional world, whereas the other one refers to reality. While it is possible that a type of representation is connected with properties of a medium, eventually it remains a matter of convention. It turns out then that it is possible to speak about the relation between photography and the world without referring to the mechanical process of its production. This however comes at a price: as the discussed relation becomes conventional it ceases to constitute a specific character of photography.

W przedmiotowym opracowaniu pomiar poziomu jakości życia przeprowadzono dla 2016 roku i obejmuje on obiektywną ocenę jakości życia w polskich województwach, z uwzględnieniem aspektu subiektywnego. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwoliła wyodrębnić grupy regionów o najwyższym, wysokim, średnim i najniższym poziomie jakości życia.

The quality of life is often perceived as an extent of fulfiling a variety of needs by people. The quality of life has always been in the centre of public interest. The reasons are that life quality concerns all people, and is generally equated with happiness, contentment and satisfaction with life. At the same time, this concept is determined by many conditions, both personal and social, including, among others, health, living conditions, natural environment, professional life and civic participation, public safety, cultural and recreational activities, education, and social relations. Additionally, the category is difficult to measure as both subjective and objective aspects of measurement are involved. The aim of the paper is to assess the quality of life of inhabitants of Poland’s provinces according to its key areas. Measurements covered the year of 2016 and included an objective assessment of the quality of life in the provinces. However, the subjective aspect was also accounted for. Hellwig’s taxonomic method was used for the assessment of life quality. The method made it possible to identify differences between the provinces in this respect. The quality of life in Polish regions in the light of the research is significantly diversified. The division of provinces into Eastern Poland with a lower quality of life and the Polish West with a higher quality of life is visible. The analysis performed allowed to distinguish the regions with the highest, high, low and very low level of the quality of life.

The economic development of Poland and its regions results from a complex interaction of many factors, which include regional innovation policy. The task of regional innovation policy is to identify and develop smart specialisations, which may offer an opportunity of building up sustained competitive advantage of Poland’s provinces. The identification of regional specialisations for the needs of regional policy carried out by Poland’s provinces is a complex process. It must be placed within the context of all other processes of territorial development. To formulate specialisations, it is necessary to perform a thorough analysis of regional economic structures, taking into account both resources of a given region and possibilities of generating revenue. One of the methods used to identify potential regional specialisations is the Krugman dissimilarity index. In the paper, it is employed to analyse dissimilarities between economic structures of Poland’s regions.
