Działalność bibliotekarska i bibliofilska profesora Kazimierza Kaczmarczyka (1878–1966), dyrektora Archiwum Państwowego w Poznaniu

This article describes the work of the distinguished archivist and prominent historian Prof. Kazimierz Kaczmarczyk (1878–1966), a long time director of the State Archives in Poznań, in the Poznań-Pomorze Polish Librarians Union, the Poznań branch of the Polish Librarians and Archivists Union and in the Poznań branch of the Polish Librarians Association until 1939 and in the post-war years of 1945–1966. Prof. Kaczmarczyk’s participation in the works of the Poznań-based Association of Polish Bibliophiles between 1924 and 1939 is also briefly mentioned. The article discusses a vast collection of books that belonged to the Professor and the attempts to sell these holdings to the faculty of the Humanities of M. Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin and later to the library of the Catholic University in Lublin

Artykuł przedstawia działalność zasłużonego archiwisty i historyka, długoletniego dyrektora Archiwum Państwowego w Poznaniu, prof. dra Kazimierza Kaczmarczyka (1878–1966) w Poznańsko-Pomorskim Kole Związku Bibliotekarzy Polskich, w Związku Bibliotekarzy Polskich Koło Poznańskie, Związku Bibliotekarzy i Archiwistów Polskich Koło Poznańskie oraz w Stowarzyszeniu Bibliotekarzy Polskich Okręg Poznański do roku 1939 oraz w latach 1945–1966. Wspomniano także o udziale Kaczmarczyka w pracach poznańskiego Towarzystwa Bibliofilów Polskich w latach 1924–1939. W artykule omówiono jego księgozbiór oraz starania o sprzedanie książek Wydziałowi Humanistycznemu Uniwersytetu Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej w Lublinie, a następnie Bibliotece Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego.

PAN Archiwum w Warszawie, Oddział w Poznaniu 1956–2021 – historia, zasoby i znaczenie dla badań nad dziejami nauki polskiej

The Poznań Branch of the PAN Archive in Warsaw was established in May 1956. From April 1974, the headquarters of the Branch was located in the building of the Poznań Society of Friends of Sciences in Poznań. The Archive collects, processes and makes available archival materials on the activities of the Polish Academy of Sciences and legacies of scholars. The legacies that form the backbone of archival resources are gathered through purchases, donations and deposits. Then they are compiled in the form of inventories and made available for research purposes. The collections of the Archive of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań contain rich documentation of the history of science in Poznań and in Poland. They concern both scientific institutions, including laboratories, editorial offices and some institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań and other Poznań universities, as well as biographies of individual scientists, especially those connected to Poznań and Greater Poland. Archival collections with valuable materials related to groundbreaking events in the post-war history of Poznań and Poland are also interesting. Archival collections are also displayed at exhibitions and during scientific conferences. Archives from two legacies are available on the CYRYL portal – the Poznań Local Digital Repository.

Professor Ludwik Jaxa-Bykowski (1881–1948) was a prominent educator, education organizer, head of the Department of Education, and co-founder of the Educational Institute at the University of Poznań. However, his broadly understood political activity in the National Party during the interwar period and his views on Polish-Jewish relations (particularly in terms of public schooling) have so far been presented in general terms only or altogether ignored. This article aims at filling the blanks in Ludwik Jaxa-Bykowski’s biography by exploring his political activity in the Second Polish Republic. Contributing to the political and social life in the interwar period was an important part of his activity that largely impacted his professional and academic life. His involvement with the National Party, public speeches, in which he defended imprisoned leaders of the Centrolew, and open criticism of the higher education reform advocated by authorities in the years 1932–1933 were behind the decision to close down the Department of Education at the University of Poznań in September 1933 and push Ludwik Jaxa-Bykowski into early retirement. The article also demonstrates his views on the issue of education for the Jewish minority in Poland and integrated education of Polish and Jewish students in primary and middle schools, and universities.

Profesor Ludwik Jaxa-Bykowski (1881–1948) był wybitnym pedagogiem, organizatorem szkolnictwa, kierownikiem Katedry Pedagogiki i organizatorem Instytutu Pedagogicznego na Uniwersytecie Poznańskim. Natomiast szeroko rozumiana działalność polityczna w okresie międzywojennym w Stronnictwie Narodowym oraz jego stosunek do relacji polsko-żydowskich - szczególnie w kwestii szkolnictwa publicznego - zostały dotąd przedstawione bardzo ogólnikowo bądź prawie całkowicie pominięte. Artykuł jest próbą wypełnienia luki w biografii Jaxy-Bykowskiego dotyczącej jego aktywności na forum politycznym w II Rzeczypospolitej. Udział w życiu politycznym i społecznym w okresie międzywojennym był ważną częścią jego życiorysu i miał duże znaczenie w działalności zawodowej i naukowej. Zaangażowanie polityczne w Stronnictwie Narodowym, wystąpienia publiczne w obronie uwięzionych przywódców Centrolewu oraz otwarta krytyka reformy szkolnictwa wyższego forsowanej przez ówczesne władze w latach 1932–1933 były powodem do likwidacji we wrześniu 1933 r. Katedry Pedagogiki na Uniwersytecie Poznańskim i przedwczesnego przeniesienia profesora w stan spoczynku. W artykule przedstawiono także poglądy Jaxy-Bykowskiego na kwestię szkolnictwa dla mniejszości żydowskiej w Polsce oraz wspólnej nauki uczniów polskich i żydowskich w szkołach podstawowych, gimnazjalnych i wyższych.

The article presents the legacies of four employees of the State Archive in Poznań, kept in the collection of the Archive of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poznań branch, namely the directors of the office: Kazimierz Kaczmarczyk, Czesław Skopowski, and Jan Szajbel, as well as Kazimiera Chojnacka, the head of the Archive Materials Preservation Lab. The text presents the circumstances in which these legacies were taken over by the Archive of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poznań branch, and discusses the materials concerning the State Archive in Poznań and the activity of the authors of the legacies while they had worked in this archive.

W artykule przedstawiono spuścizny czterech pracowników Archiwum Państwowego w Poznaniu, przechowywane w zasobie PAN Archiwum w Warszawie Oddział w Poznaniu – dyrektorów placówki: Kazimierza Kaczmarczyka, Czesława Skopowskiego i Jana Szajbla, oraz kierownika Pracowni Konserwacji materiałów archiwalnych Kazimiery Chojnackiej. W tekście przedstawiono okoliczności przejęcia spuścizn przez PAN Archiwum w Warszawie Oddział w Poznaniu, omówiono materiały dotyczące Archiwum Państwowego w Poznaniu i działalności autorów spuścizn w okresie pracy w tymże archiwum.
