In the initial part of this article the author presents educational needs of digital natives and she shows the understood of e-textbook. The fundamental part of the text is focusing on considering of the most important advantages and disadvantages of e-textbook seeing as crucial tool used through digital natives.

For over twenty years school books have been accompanied by digital resources – once stored on attached CD-ROMs, lately also in the Internet services of publishers. But only since the launch of the program „Cyfrowa szkoła” („Digital School”) conducted by the ministry of education has widespread access to free educational materials become possible. Changing the carrier makes the current model of preparation and sharing the content, which lets the publisher control every step, go out of date. It will most likely be replaced by the model typical for the digital world, where the information wants to be free, accessible instantly, ready for modification and further distribution. In the article the relationship between Ministry of National Education and educational publishers after 1989 has been presented. The stages of the development of the publishing market, as well as their technological and social aspects, enhancing the intensity and the speed of changes, were taken into account. To describe the situation on this market the metaphor of the „cathedral” and the „bazaar”, drawn from Eric Raymond’s text on the open source phenomenon, was used. Acknowledging the „bazaar model” of working on textbooks as the natural consequence of withdrawing from the traditional model makes it necessary to ask questions about the effects of these decisions and especially – the future of textbooks. The significance of the issues analyzed in this paper is proven by the discussions ongoing lately in many countries.

V rámci riešenia projektu KEGA „023UKF-4/2012 Využívanie prostriedkov IKT na podporu nového štátneho vzdelávacieho programu ISCED 1 – Primárne vzdelávanie v predmete Pracovné vyučovanie“ riešitelia projektu vypracovali elektronickú učebnicu s názvom „Elektronická učebnica z pracovného vyučovania pre učiteľov primárneho vzdelávania“. Elektronická učebnica je navrhnutá pre učiteľov ako odborný učebný text pre predmet pracovné vyučovanie, vyučovaný v 4. ročníku základnej školy. Jej tvorba a obsah je kľúčovým prvkom príspevku.

Within the project KEGA “023UKF-4/2012 The use of ICT to support the new state education ISCED 1 – Primary education teaching in the subject Technology education” project participants developed an electronic textbook titled “Electronic textbook of teaching technology education for teachers of primary education”. Electronic textbook is designed for teachers as a professional teaching text for the subject technology education, taught in the fourth year of primary school. Its creation and content is a key element of the contribution.

W związku z rozwojem technik komputerowych i coraz powszechniejszym używaniem komputera i korzystaniem z Internetu pojawił się nowy rodzaj podręczników szkolnych określanych mianem e-podręczników. Przeprowadzono badania na wybranej grupie uczniów, którzy korzystali wcześniej z klasycznych podręczników określanych mianem papierowych, a obecnie korzystają z e-podręczników. Badania miały za zadanie zdobyć informacje, który z rodzajów podręczników preferują uczniowie. Badania przeprowadzono na grupie 84 uczniów szkół w Zawadzie i Jodłówce-Wałkach. Z analizy odpowiedzi uczniów można wnioskować, że e–podręcznik dominuje na lekcjach, z czego większość uczniów jest zadowolona. Natomiast w domu wolą korzystać i korzystają z tradycyjnych podręczników papierowych. Wyniki badań są jakby sygnałem, że aktywizujące formy nauczania stosowane w czasie lekcji są dla uczniów mało atrakcyjne. Nauczyciel nie potrafi w odpowiedni sposób zainteresować uczniów, dlatego chcą, aby na pewnych etapach lekcji zastępował go komputer.

Due to the development of computer techniques and the common use of computers and the Internet, a new type of school textbooks called e-textbooks has appeared. Studies have been carried out on a selected group of students who have previously used classic textbooks, called paperback textbooks, and who are currently using e-textbooks. The main aim of these studies was to obtain information about the type of textbooks that pupils prefer. Studies have been conducted on a group of 84 pupils from schools in Zawada and Jodłówka-Wałki. Based on the analysis of the pupils’ answers, it can be concluded that e-textbooks dominate during classes, and most of pupils are happy because of that. However, they prefer to use, and use, traditional paperback textbooks at home. The results of the studies are a signal indicating that the choice of interactive teaching methods during classes is not very compelling for pupils. A teacher cannot get pupils interested which is why they prefer for him to be substituted by a computer at certain stages of the class.
