Growing virtualisation of the value chain appears to be an expression of implementation of ICT solutions in international business represented by TNCs. This creates new opportunities for cooperation within the value chain and its composition. The growing importance in this area can be attributed to companies integrating the value chain, known as plug and play. Their integration into the value creation chain gives a new dimension to TNCs’ strategic choices from the fragmentation of activity and its integration on an international scale point of view.

Economic globalisation causes increasing international fragmentation of value added chains, whereby companies outsource components of production to foreign markets. These conditions have changed the way of manufacturing organization and the method of measuring international trade. The aim of this paper is the conceptualization of terms such as dematerialisation, deindustrialisation, delocalisation and reindustrialisation of industrial production as well as the global value chain. Followed by analysis of participation of selected economies in global value chains.(original abstract)

The rapid increase in import dependency of exports and current account imbalances in many countries over the last two decades led many researchers to argue that they may be correlated and the increase in IDE may be the main cause of current account imbalances. This argument is important because historical evidence suggests that large and persistent current account imbalances often lead to subsequent corrective crisis. If the increase in IDE is a major cause of current account imbalances, reducing it becomes an important policy option to prevent further crisis. While there is a large literature on both global value chains (the main cause of IDE) and current account imbalances, the literature that investigates the link between them is very new and limited. This paper aims to contribute to this limited literature. (original abstract)

The aim of the paper is to determine to what extent the R&D industry in Poland participates in global value chains (GVC), and to determine the place of this industry in these chains. The research tool is the participation in GVC index, being the sum of shares in these chains as a recipient of foreign components used in domestic production (participation index, backward), and as a supplier (producer) of intermediate goods for manufacturing abroad of final products (participation index, forward). The analysis includes latest available data, taken from the EORA (for 2015) and WIOD (for 2014) databases. It has been shown that the R&D industry in Poland participates, but still to a small extent, in the global value chains. Compared to the entire Polish economy, where about half of the exports are carried out under GVC, in the R&D industry this share is about twice lower. A different tendency is also visible in the development the directions of this participation: for the entire Polish economy the share as a recipient of foreign components for domestic production (backward index) clearly prevails over the forward index while in the case of the R&D industry, the backward and forward participation ratios have similar values, and calculations based on EORA even indicate the advantage of forward participation.

W drugiej części na podstawie źródeł wtórnych opracowano i przedyskutowano ilustratywne studia przypadków demonstrujące najważniejsze kategorie konfigurowania wartości w wybranym sektorze.

The increase in the popularity of the paradigm relating to relationships marketing entails growing interest in the relationships within management processes. The article presents an empirical verification of the role of relationships between suppliers and consumers as an important component of contemporary business models of domestic manufacturers of retailers' private labels. It also emphasises that although in building interorganizational relationships economic and financial elements dominate, more and more often social and environmental aspects count and are taken into consideration, too. The author draws our attention to the fact that in the light of high dynamics of change in the environment there is an increase in the need for adaptive changes, which, as a result, makes the current business models change.
