The paper reports some of the results obtained from a study conducted on the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) and the integration of international migrants. The DNA of the Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs) distinguishes this kind of companies from other economic stakeholders, including those of the SSE. These devices, as hybrid companies, go beyond a pure economic rationale, enabling labor activation and social inclusion for disadvantaged groups, including vulnerable international migrants. Therefore, WISEs should be understood as valuable mechanisms for achieving optimal levels of personal empowerment and social and labor integration in their active use and enhancement of employees’ capacities and competencies. All of their activities has an impact on social justice in helping to construct a more inclusive growth and society and fosters the integration of labor international immigrants specially.

There are many authors writing on Catholic social teaching. Some support free market interpretation of writings of St. John Paul II, some tend to stress its pro-social elements. The purpose of our paper is to analyse three social encyclicals of polish Pope and compare his opinion about labour and wages under capitalist regime with the most consequent proponents of free market capitalism — the Austrian school economists. Careful reading of St. John Paul II’s writings shows his very critical attitude to capitalism, especially in its beginnings. Yet his criticism is not equipped with elaborated economic theory and is just a group of ideas, based mostly on ethical refl ections. The most famous of those is the notion of the family wage. The notion, that if imposed by legislation, would bring many effects unwanted and unrealised by the Pope. The economic analysis of the family wage concept shows that it can be more harmful than benefi cial to the society. Furthermore, Pope’s acceptance for social security places his views surprisingly close to current welfare state. General view of three social encyclicals of St. John Paul II prove his less pro-capitalistic attitude than many scholars think.

The ICT-based techno-economic paradigm shift was sharpened by income inequalities in all over the world. The economic performance of USA and Europe were seemed to more different thanks to global economic events. The main purpose of this study is to estimate various macroeconomic variables such as GDP and labour for the period of 1993-2013. In order to indicate economic growth an alternative growth accounting method was used to decompose impacts of physical capital accumulation, technological changes and labour. Analysing the time series data of various OECD countries we could conclude that a large part of the variations in the output gap stem from the cyclical variations of total labour input and the total factor productivity (TFP). Hence, our results were reflected the relevance of technological progress.

Purpose: Pregnancy of teenage girls is of high-risk. It requires special care and concern in the medical, socio-economic, legal, and psycho-pedagogical aspect. The aim of this study was to analyze the incidence of early motherhood, the course of pregnancy, labour, peurperium and newborn assessment. Material and methods: The research was conducted on 152 women giving birth and hospitalized in J. Śniadecki Provincial Hospital of Białystok in 2007-2008. One the characteristics' of the examined group was the highest percentage of unmarried women of all. Results: Teenage mothers did not examine pregnancy or reported to a doctor relatively late. Mostly registered complication was the risk of premature birth. Pregnancy among young women was ended in caesarean section more often than usually and infants were in worse clinical condition. Problems with breastfeeding and anaemia were also reported during the puerperium. Conclusions: Teenage pregnancies were not controlled or mothers reported to a doctor in the late stage of gestation. The most common complication was the risk of premature delivery. Teenage pregnancies, more than other, were ended in caesarean section.

According to the author of the opinion, in the Polish criminal law system such a role is played by the penalty of restriction of liberty. In the catalogue of penalties it holds a second rank in terms of severity. The author emphasizes that the penalty of restriction of liberty may consist of performing unpaid, controlled work for social purposes. On the other hand, the penalty of restriction of liberty may consist of deducting a part of remuneration for ordinary work and transferring this amount to funding a social purpose indicated by a court.

The work presents the results of the preliminary research on the employment of foreigners’ that were conducted among Polish banking institutions being the international corporations with a global reach. The initial results of the analysis shows the potential impact that specific employment policies exert on personal attitudes of foreign executives and operations of the companies in which they are employed. The analysis described in this work identifies the most important elements which hinder the development of those banks whose employment policies are based on the assumption that hiring foreigners is more beneficial than taking on local managers regardless of their familiarity with Polish market mechanisms. The qualitative research that were conducted in the form of the scenario-based interviews, were carried out with both, a group of managers (mainly heads of HR departments and senior executives) cooperating with the foreigners on everyday basis, and the foreigners themselves. The preliminary studies have revealed a number of trends and phenomenon that were described within this work.

The introductory part of the article describes the dogmatic structure of offences treated less severely than the corresponding standard offences. The description was then collated with the analysis of Article 149 of the Penal Code which classifies the crime of infanticide. As aresult, it has been established that the legislator provides for only one basis for treating infanticide as an offence treated less severely. The basis in question, concerning the mother’s emotional disturbance as aconsequence of labour, has not been defined precisely enough. This is due to the fact that there is no empirical research unambiguously confirming the assumption that labour has apathological impact on the psyche of a woman. Thus, the structure of Article 149 of the Penal Code in its current form does not reflect the actual causes of aperpetrator’s criminogenic activity and it is necessary to determine the real basis for treating infanticide as an offence treated less severely than the corresponding standard offence.

The professional performance of public tasks results in the necessity to employ persons who treat the performance of these tasks as a profession and therefore should be employed within the framework of an employment relationship. Therefore, it is not possible to employ proxies under a civil law contract to perform official tasks. Employment on such a position under a civil-law contract can be assessed as a circumvention of rules, according to which local government employees should be employed – including the rules established in terms of recruitment, qualifications and duties.

The aim of this paper is to present the general issue of execution from remuneration for work and, in particular, the impact that the Act of 22 March 2018 on bailiffs had on changes in the Code of Civil Procedure. The paper uses the methods of critical analysis of sources and systematic review. So far, there has been no doubt that individuals employed under civil-law contracts are in a much worse situation than those employed under employment contracts. For this reason, the legislature wanted to protect them from execution, hence the introduc- tion of a means to make their situation equal in Article 833 § 21 of the Code of Civil Proce¬dure. Despite the good intentions of the legislature, this provision still raises doubts over the wording: ‘ensuring livelihood’. For this reason, the application of new provisions that limit the execution of recurring benefits aimed at ensuring subsistence - other than remuneration for work - requires appropriate action.

The Constitution of India guarantees fundamental rights and the full freedom to enjoy childhood. In spite of that millions of children are being put to arduous work for short and narrow gains. By 1989, the standards concerning children were brought together in a single legal instrument agreed to by the international community. It unambiguously spelt out the rights to which every child is entitled, regardless of place of birth, descent, sex, religion, or social origin. A number of aspects, such as gender, family background, cultural acceptance, issues of health and recreation, the legal aspect and so on, have been covered. The life worlds of working children, legal protection to children from exploitation and the human rights perspective of child labour is the main focus of this article.

What happens once the rogue rides off into the sunset? This cross-genre essay considers the figure of the rogue’s decline and gradual dismemberment in the face of the pressures of the world. Beginning with the “rogue” digits and other body parts lost by the men who surrounded him in his youth-especially his grandfather-Dobson considers the costs of labour and poverty in rural environments. For him, the rogue is one who falls somehow outside of cultural, social, and political norms- the one who has decided to step outside of the establishment, outside of the corrupt élites and their highfalutin ways. To do so comes at a cost. Turning to the life of writer George Ryga and to the poetry and fiction of Patrick Lane, this essay examines the real, physical, material, and social costs of transgression across multiple works linked to rural environments in Alberta and British Columbia. The essay shows the ways in which very real forms of violence discipline the rogue, pushing the rogue back into submission or out of mind, back into the shadowy past from whence the rogue first came. Resisting nostalgia while evincing sympathy, this essay delves into what is at stake for one who would become a rogue.

Researchers recognize that women adaptation to the period of pregnancy is an important prerequisite to take the role of a mother. It is also an important role in transition to a parent (Benedek 1959 Bibring 1961 Leifer 1977). Acceptance of the child in the prenatal period and understanding the changes which are associated with pregnancy affects the subsequent functioning in the role of parent. Joan Raphael-Leff (1983) based on their own clinical experience (working with pregnant women and young mothers) developed a theoretical model materna orientation, which explain women’s individual differences in becoming a mother. Joan Raphel-Leff (2009) shows that some women is relatively easy to adapt to pregnancy and early motherhood, for others it is more difficult to accept the changes in their body and lifestyle. The main principle of maternal orientation is the division of women on the mother „regulators”, which depends on the fact that the child adapted to their needs and lifestyle. The second group consists of mothers „moderators” follow the needs of the child and its natural rhythm. As part of the articles will be presented koncpecja orientation motherhood with a presentation of key research.

The author makes an attempt to compare the role of the lexical units pratsa and rabota, as well as their derivatives, in the formation of the concept labour in the Byelorussian language. She comes to the conclusion that the main content of the concept arises in the area of overlapping the semantic fields of these lexemes. Labour is a socially useful and officially organized activity which is performed within a certain time period. It should be mentioned that non-manual work is more important. Labour is both the duty of a human being and a means of one’s living arrangements. Although labour and subjects of labour (first of all employees) receive unambiguously positive evaluation, in the semantics of the lexemes being discussed latent negative attitude to heavy and dirty work appears, which often manifests the essence of labour.

Chociaż praca i podmioty pracy (przede wszystkim pracownicy) otrzymują jednoznacznie pozytywną ocenę, to praca w języku białoruskim kojarzy się też z brudem i znojem, i owe negatywne aspekty stanowią istotę pojęcia.

The idea of waste is used by left thinking authors rather incidentally. In the text author tries to conceptualise category of waste and shows main critical moments when waste phenomenon is actualized. Hereby the idea of waste is introduced to left thought dictionary. Author underlines two main areas of waste in modern capitalism. First is commodity waste which is caused by too big supply and/or demand. Second is waste of labour force. It includes such phenomena as unemployment, house work and ineffective work. Author concludes that capitalism is wasteful economical system. Although we can not think abut systems that are not wasteful at all because it does not exist. We can analyse level of waste and its function. In capitalist society its function is maintenance of principle of profit and private property.

Temat powziętego referatu skupia uwagę na rozumieniu pracy u zarania dziejów cywili-zacji, kiedy to pomiar wartości wykonanej pracy stanowił niezbywalny element ówczesnego sys-temu ekonomicznego, a model rachunkowości pierwotnej sprowadzał się do zapisu wykonanej pracy poprzedzonego wcześniej dokonanym jej pomiarem, a ponadto do mierzenia kosztów wynikłych z pracy wraz z próbą szacowania wynagrodzenia według przyjętej uprzednio wartości pracy. Niebagatelną rolę w prezentowanym referacie odgrywa omó-wienie w ramach wprowadzenia perspektywy historycznej, która zapewnia poczucie orientacji we wcześniejszych wynikach badań i ułatwia zajęcie stanowiska wobec dawnych idei.

The primary aim of joint work is to obtain by a society a multiplied effect which is the out-come of collectively undertaken activity as well as individual specialization area of its participants. Thus, joint work represents a significant factor which enables the subsistence and development. The notion of labour manifests itself in many domains and is broadly defined in numerous studies. The subject of the following thesis concentrates on the meaning of labour since the down of civili-zation when the measurement of the value of work performed constituted an integral component of the economic system and primary accounting model was reduced to keeping record of work com-pleted preceded by measurement. Moreover, the model was applied to measure the costs resulting from work done together with an effort to estimate remuneration in accordance with formerly adopted value of work. The analysis of partial and incomplete information on economy as well as accountancy in ancient city-states having been performed by archeologists and historians over years leads to conclusion that confirms the existence of economy based on labour since the dawn of civilization. It is noteworthy that solutions applicable in contemporary payroll scheme and those employed at that time are very much alike. The next chapter looks at the concept of labour in relation to scientific paradigm including discussion on the theories of value built on the studies of authors of classical economics. A great emphasis is put on the crucial role of historical perspective being examined in the paper as it allows to gain understanding of prior research findings and makes it possible to take a stand on the early concepts.

The main objective of this paper is to analyze the mutual relationship between the right to strike as well as its frequency and the opposite guaranteed to employers – right to lockout in accordance with labour law regulations of the selected European States. Subsidiary, the author will also focus on the provisions within the Council of Europe (especially the regulations of the revised version of the European Social Charter and the judicial practice of the European Committee of Social Rights) as well as the provisions enacted by European Union institutions. One of the main thesis of the article hereto is the presumption that the lack of the common standard among the States of the Council of Europe causes significant differences regarding the acceptable scope of the right to strike and lockout. Such differences may adversely impact the domestic and international economy and trade relationships as well as are of particular significance in the light of postulate of economic, social and cultural rights protection. The conducted analysis will present the Constitutional guarantees as well as concrete labour law provisions, regarding not only recognition of the rights to strike or lockout, but also the bargaining system as well as practical dimension of the labour rights, such as for instance days not worked and the number of workers involved in industrial action. To genuinely present the aforesaid data, the author will rely mainly on the database of International Labour Organzation (ILO) and European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), selected conclusions of the European Committee of Social Rights and the statement of the chosen representatives of European labour law doctrine. The principal purpose of the article is therefore to attempt to establish an optimal model of future European standard providing an accurate base between rights of workers and interests of employers with the benefit for economy.

International migration is a global phenomenon that is growing in scope, complexity and impact. Migration is both a cause and effect of broader development processes and an intrinsic feature of our constantly globalizing world. While no substitute for development, migration can be a positive force for development when supported by the right set of policies. The rise in global mobility, the growing complexity of migratory patterns and its impact on countries, migrants, families and communities have all contributed to international migration becoming a priority for the international community. Labour migration, in the modern world, has undergone and continues undergoing serious evolution. In addition to regional migration, the flows have intensified in domestic and foreign labour market. It should be pointed out that, for migration processes the following factors are critical: progress in the field of transport, development of mechanization and aviation communications as well as modern systems of communication, media and information technology. A fundamental role in the formation of migration potential and its growth in Ukraine play, on the one hand, demographic phenomena, as well as increasing unemployment; on the other hand, significant changes in the global economy, the emergence and development of powerful economic centers of the modern manufacturing industries, the comprehensive development of the service sector. Political decisions to limit labour migration in Ukraine are unlikely to play a significant role in international relations. Neither restrictive measures nor development strategy as a whole will not be able to rein in international labour migration in the short term. Two strong factors contribute to the displacement of population. These factors include the spread of a global culture, the rise of international capital, goods and people. The world community must learn to live in the conditions of mass migration in the near future.

In economic history value theory is simply one paradigm amongst others. It refers to an ensemble of economic ideas developed by classical political economists such as Adam Smith and David Ricardo. In the works of Karl Marx, however, value theory takes on a new meaning. It is charged with political significance and relates directly to class struggles in modern society. In this paper we will explore some aspects of Marx’s critique of capitalism as interpreted by Harry Cleaver, Isaak Illich Rubin, Roman Ro-dolsky and several other scholars.

The work is a critical analysis of writings of theoreticians dealing with alienation theory from the late eighteenth to the twentieth century. While in Karl Marx’s theory the focus is on alienation of a man from the product of his work and work itself, other forms of the concept play an important role in fields like history, sociology, philosophy and psychology. Before Marx, the idea appeared in the writings of Rousseau, where it was understood as a result of human distance from nature. Hegel interpreted it as a sort of alienated reality that only man can assimilate. Feuerbach, on the other hand, believed that man alienates from a part of himself by creating the idea of God. Fromm and the Frankfurt School drew from Marx’s writings, but for them the alienation was more about the mental sphere and it meant the alienation of the man from himself.
