This study aimed to examine the effectiveness and practicality of modules used to teach the elementary students in Ambon, Moluccas, Indonesia and as a result generate a thematic module based on Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model. We adopted a 4D development model, which comprises four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate to produce the module. A survey and interviews were conducted at the define stage and the results proved that the students used modules which only accommodate the traditional learning model. These modules did not provide the students with activities which could help improve their thinking skills. At the define stage, a thematic module was created and at the develop stage, it was revised based on suggestions from experts and the results of the field try-outs. The use of the module showed a significant improvement in student achievement. The final step of the development of the module was performed by providing teachers with a training program on teaching resources and lesson study. Future research is expected to be empirical so that it can investigate the effect of the thematic module on students’ higher order thinking skills.

The model of the educational and methodological complexеs that providethe teaching of disciplines of naturally scientific preparationhas been developed. The model of the educational and methodological complexеs consists of 5 interconnected structural components – units, namely the units of the normative documentation, the program-planning documentation, the teaching and methodological support, means of training and means of control. We have found out, that sectoral standards of higher education, training programs (typical and working), and also textbooks and manuals form an invariant core of the created educational and methodological complexеs. It has been found out, that during teaching the disciplines of naturally scientific preparation created within the limits of the developed model of educational and methodological complexеs is a tool of the system- methodological support of the process of formation of information technology competence (the IT competence) of the future specialists. They are also a factor due to which different didactics means of teaching are integrated into one and correspond to the learning objectives. We have come to the conclusion, that in modern conditions of variability, differentiation and standardization of higher medical and pharmaceutical education, educational and methodological complexes, which were created for providing the teaching of disciplines of naturally scientific preparationwithin the limits of the developed model, is an important means of its methodological support and also largely aimed at the formation of the IT competence of the future doctors and pharmacists.

The article describes the constantly changing needs of students learning a foreign language. In the past, teacherʼs job was to introduce general vocabulary or speaking in a foreign language, however today, because of the labour market, many students are forced to speak a specialised language even before completing their studies. What I mean are, for example, students of European Studies doing an internship in MEP ʼs offices in EU institutions, who should use a foreign language in specific professional situations. Therefore, their language classes should not limit themselves to learning only the general language, but also contain a module for vocabulary, structures that appear in the language of the European Union and give an opportunity to read examples of texts written using them. The article presents an idea of such module, goals that will be achieved using it and sample exercises that are included in it.
