Uczniowie z chorobami przewlekłymi w szkole: w kręgu możliwości wspierania uczniów przez nauczyciela w zakresie stałego przyjmowania leków

Chronically ill children generally do not receive assistance as regards the implementation of necessary health procedures within the educational environment. This concerns primarily taking medication in chronic diseases and the performance of other medical activities (e.g., taking blood tests, checking sugar levels). Usually, parents need to resign from their professional careers in order to assist their children in performing these activities. Despite long-standing efforts, no valid model of care provided for chronically ill children at schools and pre-schools has been designed. Undoubtedly, the needs of this group of children are varied and challenging not only for teachers but also for the healthcare and educational systems. The presented analyzes focus on the situation of chronically ill children, legal issues connected with the right to education, and the School Health Act. Additionally, the author conducted a survey concerning teachers’ willingness to administer medication for chronically ill children. Teachers’ opinions constitute a significant element in the planning and designing the educational process that is safe for children. Consequently, it is essential to develop unambiguous and consistent legal solutions.

Dzieci ze schorzeniami przewlekłymi zwykle nie otrzymują w środowisku edukacyjnym wsparcia w zakresie realizacji koniecznych procedur zdrowotnych. Chodzi tu przede wszystkim o przyjmowanie leków w chorobach przewlekłych i wykonywanie innych czynności medycznych (np. mierzenie poziomu cukru we krwi). Najczęściej to rodzice muszą rezygnować z pracy, by wspierać dziecko w ich wykonywaniu. Mimo wieloletnich starań nie wypracowano obowiązującego modelu opieki nad dzieckiem z chorobą przewlekłą w szkole czy przedszkolu. Niewątpliwie potrzeby tej grupy dzieci są zróżnicowane i stanowią wyzwanie dla systemu opieki zdrowotnej i systemu edukacji, a nie tylko dla nauczycieli. Analizy dotyczą sytuacji dzieci z chorobą przewlekłą, kwestii prawnych związanych z prawem do edukacji, jak i samej ustawy o opiece zdrowotnej nad uczniami. Autorka przeprowadziła także sondażowe badania na temat gotowości nauczycieli do podawania uczniom stale przyjmowanych leków. Głos nauczycieli jest ważnym elementem projektowania i konstruowania bezpiecznego dla dziecka procesu edukacji. Niezbędne jest zatem przygotowanie jednoznacznych i spójnych rozwiązań prawnych.
