The present paper is the first study about Marin Sorescu’s volume of poetry translated into Catalan language and entitled Per entre els dies. Antologia poètica. The translators of the volume are Corina Oproae and the very author of this article, while the poet Frances Parcerisas signs the foreword of the book, published in bilingual edition in 2013 by the Majorcan Publishing House Lleonard Muntaner Editor.

This article deals with the substitution, a popular and very difficult translator’s tool, which competently used allows to solve the problem of untranslatability and to blur the cultural and linguistic differences between the original text and the translation. Taking as the example very popular Italian translations of Wisława Szymborska’s poetry by Pietro Marchesani there is presented a characteristic and a general categorization of this transformation. We can specify the following types: lexical, grammatical, stylistic and metric. Thanks to the skillful use of the substitution Pietro Marchesani manages to keep the poetic essence of Szymborska’s poetry and at the same time to give the impression that her poetry is written in Italian.

Niniejszy artykuł traktuje o substytucji, popularnym i bardzo trudnym narzędziu translatorskim, który umiejętnie użyty pozwala rozwiązać problem nieprzekładalności oraz zatarcie różnic kulturowych i językowych między oryginałem a przekładem. Na przykładzie popularnych we Włoszech przekładów poezji Wisławy Szymborskiej autorstwa Pietra Marchesaniego zostaje przedstawiona charakterystyka oraz ogólna kategoryzacja tej transformacji. Można wymienić następujące jej typy: leksykalny, gramatyczny, stylistyczny i metryczny. Między innymi dzięki umiejętnym posługiwaniu się narzędziem substytucji Pietrze Marchesaniemu udało się zachować poetycką kwintesencję poezji Szymborskiej, a przy tym sprawić wrażenie, że jej poezja została napisana po włosku.

The article discusses some Polish translations of the lyrical texts of the Austrian poetress Friederike Mayröcker by Ryszard Wojnakowski in the perspective of the theory of the performative – in its initial version by J. L. Austin and in its poststructuralist revisions. It depicts the performative nature of Mayröcker’s poetry which consists in the theatralization of texts, ritualized speech acts that have an auto-reference character and iteration mechanisms. Translation is seen as a re-staging and re-citation of the meanings of the original. Translation is understood as a creative activity that emphasizes the role of the translator, whereas the performative view counteracts the “invisibility” of the translator (Venuti).

Artykuł omawia niektóre polskie przekłady tekstów lirycznych austriackiej poetki Friederike Mayröcker autorstwa Ryszarda Wojnakowskiego w perspektywy koncepcji performatywności, począwszy od J. L. Austina do poststrukturalistycznych rewizji. Zostaje tu ukazany performatywny charakter poezji Mayröcker, polegający na teatralizacji tekstów, dokonujących się w nich zrytualizowanych aktów mowy, które mają charakter auto-referencyjny i podkreślają zdarzeniowość wierszy, oraz na uwalnianiu mechanizmów iteracji. W świetle performatyki przekład jawi się jako performatywna re-inscenizacja i re-cytacja znaczeń zawartych w oryginale, oraz jako podejmowanie gry znaczeń, toczącej się w poezji Mayröcker. Przekład jest pojmowany jako twórcze działanie, które uwypukla rolę tłumacza. Performatywne spojrzenie na proces translacyjny przeciwdziała zatem ‘niewidzialności’ tłumacza (Venuti).
