In the field of helping professions, especially in pedagogical professions, a relationship is an essential component of professional work. In this article the main characteristics of professional relationship and methods of work that enable to develop and attain the adequate professional relationship are presented. The professional relationship is also dealt with in the context of theories of various authors, who emphasize the balance of closeness and distance in the relationship as well as the concepts which help to form it. Essential elements in the process of forming the adequate relationship are pointed out. Furthermore, the significance of pedagogical Eros and ethos in education is given along with the critical view on setting boundaries and expectations at work within the pedagogical field.
