Przemiany pozycji kobiety w PRL-u – wybrane konteksty

The position of women in the Polish People’s Republic changed with respect to earlier historical periods. In this article the author analyzes four aspects of women’s lives: education, professional work, family and public sphere. The position of women is compared to the situation of men in each aspect. The analysis shows that there was no legal equality of men and women.

The main purpose of this article is to answer the following questions: did the current sociopolitical situation determine the contents of kid’s Płomyczek magazine and if so, how. These questions suggest a hidden agenda of the periodical as a tool of indoctrination. The study was conducted on issues ofPłomyczek from the period of the Second Polish Republic, the Polish People’s Republic and the Third Polish Republic. The research shows similarities between the ideology in the said period and the content of Płomyczek, however indoctrination took place only during the Second Polish Republic and the Polish People’s Republic. Issues from the Third Polish Republic, unlike the earlier ones, criticized current politicians and stimulated reflective thinking.

The aim of this article is to present the socio-cultural context of the development of the hippie subculture. The author definesthe term ‘subculture’, describes the ideology and the lifestyle of hippies and presents a typology of its members. The text shows that the hippie movement was the fruit of its time but was also related to the social phenomena from the past and continues to be an inspiration for the present.
