W artykule przedstawione zostały wstępne uwagi, wiążące się z rolą, jaką nowi chrześcijanie i Żydzi odegrali w formowaniu gospodarek kolonialnej Ameryki Łacińskiej w okresie od XVI do XVIII wieku. Problematyka ta stanowi fragment szerszego opracowania dotyczącego wybranych elementów historii gospodarczej Ameryki Łacińskiej i Karaibów w czasach kolonii. W polskim piśmiennictwie naukowym temat roli odegranej przez nowych chrześcijan i Żydów nie był do tej pory podejmowany.

The article concerns about the study of modern Jewish emigration to the New World, its contribution to the creation of local societies and the role of the Europeans Jews and the New Christians in the formation of the colonial economy of Latin America from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century. This issue is a fragment of a broader study on selected items of the colonial economic history of Latin America and the Caribbean. The role played by the New Christians and the Jews was not undertaken in Polish scientific literature.
