Artykuł definiuje rolę Żandarmerii Wojskowej po wprowadzeniu na początku 2014 roku reformy Systemu Kierowania i Dowodzenia SZ RP, ocenianą z perspektywy Dowództwa Generalnego Rodzajów Sił Zbrojnych – dowództwa skupiającego w sobie ponad 90% stanu etatowego polskich Sił Zbrojnych. Wskazuje, jakiego rodzaju zadania realizuje ŻW na rzecz Dowództwa Generalnego RSZ i jednostek podległych. Autor sugeruje konieczność odmiennego zbalansowania poszczególnych pionów funkcjonalnych w strukturze ŻW, co ma przyczynić się do rozwoju formacji i sprostania zadaniom nakładanym w ostatnim czasie przez ustawodawcę. Finalnie, określa przyszłą rolę formacji w kontekście dalszych przeobrażeń, które staną się udziałem ŻW, jak m.in. w związku z rozszerzeniem jurysdykcji organu w wyniku nowelizacji kodeksu postępowania karnego, pozwalających na zdefiniowanie Żandarmerii Wojskowej jako pełnoprawnej policji wojskowej i takiego postrzegania służby przez SZ RP.

The article defines the role of Military Police (MP) after the implementation of the reform of Polish Armed Forces’ Command and Con-trol System in 2014 from the perspective of the Polish Armed Forces’ Ser-vices’ General Command which contains over 90% of the Polish Armed Forces’ positions. The author shows what kind of tasks are performed by Military Police for the Polish Armed Forces’ Services’ General Command and its subordi-nate units and suggests the necessity to balance differently selective func-tional segments in the MP structure which will contribute to the develop-ment of this formation and accomplishing tasks required by law. Finally, the author describes the future role of the formation in the con-text of further transformations that Military Police will participate in, con-nected, among others, with extending the jurisdiction resulting from the amendment to the penal code allowing defining Military Police as a lawful military police perceived as such by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland.
