The article deals with number symbolism in the work by Velimir Khleb-nikov in the context of Russian modernism. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the number symbolism in the Tables of Destiny. The author comes into consideration, that in the works by Velimir Khlebnikov, especially in the Tables of Destiny, two ways of comprehension of truth were combined: intu-itional vision by means of number symbolism and an attempt of calculation of history regularity and destiny of individuals by means of mathematic formulas.

The article addresses the difficulty of classifying Adam Pomorski’s translations of Velimir Khlebnikov’s poetry as a mere stylization after Boleslav Lesmian’s poetry. The Polish translations of the neological poetic experiments of the Russian Cubo‑Futurist provide a point of departure to discuss theoretical and interpretive implications of stylistic reminiscence as a unique type of intertextual dialogue between the literature of the original and the receiving literature.

В статье рассматривается категория времени как одна из определяющих черт модернистского художественного перевода. Автор рассуждает темпоральность межкультурной и межъязыковой встречи преимущественно с точки зрения исторической поэтики и интерстилистики на фоне западноевропейских высоких модернистских теорий перевода. Опираясь на центрально- и восточноевропейской концепции художественного перевода как сдвига в пространственном времени, статья рассматривает интертекстуальные операции переводчиков как важное средство путешествия по историческим литературным традициям.

This article addresses the category of time as one of defining features of modernist literary translation. Against the background of Western European high modernist theories of translation, the temporality of an intercultural and interlingual encounter is viewed predominantly in terms of historical poetics and interstylistics. Drawing from Central and Eastern European conceptualisations of literary translation as a shift in spatialized time, the article considers the translators’ intertextual operations as important means to travel through historical literary traditions.

Artykuł dotyczy kategorii czasu jako jednej z cech definiujących modernistycznego przekładu literackiego. czasowość spotkania międzykulturowego i międzyjęzykowego rozpatrywana jest przede wszystkim w kategoriach poetyki historycznej i interstylistyki. Kontrastowe tło rozważań stanowią zachodnioeuropejskie wysokomodernistyczne teorie przekładu. Opierając się na środkowo-i wschodnioeuropejskich koncepcjach przekładu literackiego jako przemieszczenia w uprzestrzennionym czasie, artykuł prezentuje intertekstualne operacje tłumaczy jako wędrówkę przez historyczne tradycje literackie.
