The purpose of the article is to present results of an analysis of how students of Polish as a foreign language implement the genre pattern of a complaint letter. The study group included Slavic students of the Centre of Polish and Polish Culture for Polish People from Abroad and Foreigners UMCS in Lublin. The research was conducted twice – at the beginning and in the end of the academic year. Therefore it’s results show the increase of learners communication competences and the elements that should be given special attention in the teaching process. The article also stresses that teachers of Polish as a foreign language should pay more attention to achievements of genre studies. It also presents a description of the genre pattern of a complaint letter.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wyników analizy sposobów realizacji polskiego wzorca gatunkowego skargi przez słowiańskojęzycznych studentów uczących się języka polskiego w Centrum Języka i Kultury Polskiej dla Polonii i Cudzoziemców UMCS w Lublinie. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone dwukrotnie – na początku i na końcu roku akademickiego – dlatego wyniki analizy pozwalają na zaobserwowanie poziomu wzrostu kompetencji komunikacyjnych uczących się oraz wskazanie elementów, na które należy zwrócić szczególną uwagę w procesie nauczania. Artykuł podkreśla także potrzebę zwrócenia większej uwagi na kształcenie kompetencji genologicznej oraz wykorzystanie w praktyce glottodydaktycznej osiągnięć genologii. Zawiera również charakterystykę polskiego wzorca gatunkowego skargi.

The article presents theoretical issues related generally to the genre competence, but also specifically to foreign language pedagogy and in particular to teaching Polish as a foreign language. The author presents practical aspects related to the teaching of foreign languages for specific purposes, which must include the genres specific to the variety of language being taught.

W artykule zaprezentowano zagadnienia teoretyczne dotyczące kompetencji genologicznej jako takiej, a także w odniesieniu do nauczania języków obcych w ogóle, a zwłaszcza języka polskiego jako obcego. Przedstawiono również praktyczne aspekty związane przede wszystkim z nauczaniem odmian specjalistycznych, w obrębie których wykształciły się specyficzne gatunki.

In the article the author draws the attention to use of the prototype of the recipe by the hearing impaired persons. The departures from the prototype on the structural level as well as language deformations were observed. The texts were also analysed from the perspective of Polish sign language interferences with Polish language. Analysis of the material allowed to make conclusions related to genology competencies of hearing impaired persons. In most cases the characteristics of the prototype were met. The language deformations and language errors did not obscure the text purpose. The analyses indicated that the pathological application of the prototype on the stylisticlexical level does not lead into communication failure as long as the prototype was applied in the structural, cognitive and pragmatic aspects.
