Phonic gestures are a communication tool as well as a regulator of social relationships and their meaning depends on the intentions of the sender, which is understood in a particular consituation. Phonic gestures may take on various forms: non-lexical or more lingual, they may also play many roles in speech therapy, also with kindergarten-age children. Not only do they complement the meaning of words, but also emphasise or explain the meaning of a verbal statement, they provide structure for the course of interaction and occasionally become an equivalent of the whole statement. The analysis of sonic mimic movements enables identification of emotions and moods that accompany the meeting of speech therapy subjects, it determines the possibility of regulating the course of a conversation and adjusting to the situation, it also influences the quality of personal relationships in interactions.

A child at the moment of birth has certain inborn patterns allowing it to spontaneously respond to the surrounding world and yet unknown sensations - called reflex. The most significant for speech development are reflexes of the orofacial area. The well-functioning reflexes allow the child to eat properly. The movements involved in alimentary action are reflected in the articulation of the sounds. The absence of orofacial area reflexes or their impaired integration inhibits the child’s normal speech development. It impairs motor efficiency of the articulation organs, and consequently leads to incorrect articualtion of sounds. The aim of this paper is to present the impact of orofacial reflexes on the development of alimentary functions and the development of the child's speech. The knowledge of the aforementioned subject plays a significant role in logopaedic prevention / early logopaedic intervention.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ocena wykorzystania przez terapeutów w terapii komunikacji językowej metody Gestów Obrazujących Ruchy Artykulatorów (©GORA). Zaburzony rozwój mowy znacznie utrudnia komunikację językową jednostki, prowadzi do deficytów rozwojowych w sferze emocjonalnej, poznawczej i społecznej. W pracy z osobami z zaburzeniami komunikacji językowej efektywną metodą wspierającą terapię są gesty ©GORA. Wspomagają one przełamanie deficytów w zakresie rozwoju funkcji motorycznych i/lub percepcji słuchowej leżących u podłoża trudności w opanowaniu języka, czytania i pisania. Dzięki temu stymulują rozwój mowy i języka dziecka, budują i rozwijają kompetencję komunikacyjną oraz kompetencję językową. Autorki artykułu zweryfikowały swoje obserwacje i przemyślenia dzięki przeprowadzeniu badania ankietowego wśród pedagogów/logopedów wspierających terapię komunikacji językowej gestami ©GORA.

The purpose of this article was to evaluate the use of articulatory gestures by specialists in language communication therapy. Impaired speech development significantly impedes the individual’s language communication, leading to developmental deficits in the emotional, cognitive and social spheres. Articulatory gestures are an effective method supporting therapy when working with people with language communication disorders. They help one overcome deficits in the development of motor functions and/or auditory perception, which are the underlying difficulties in mastering the language. Thanks to this, they stimulate the development of the child’s speech and language, building and developing communication and language competencies. The authors of this article verified their observations and thoughts by conducting surveys among speech therapists supporting language communication therapy with articulatory gestures.

Tekst zawiera jakościową i ilościową analizę wytworów pisanych osób z zespołem Aspergera.

Asperger’s syndrome is still not fully described on grounds of speech therapy. It will be even more difficult because the latest classifications devoted to autism spectrum disorders do not take into account the language and communication difficulties of people living with this disorder. The following article is an attempt to apply the written methodology to analyze written statements of adult men with Asperger syndrome, taking into account the determinants of text coherence: grammatical consistency (cohesion), semantic coherence and pragmatic coherence. The text contains a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the products of people with Asperger syndrome.
