Media enterprises differ from other enterprises by the specificity of a social mission. Media companies are producers of not only material goods, but also cultural goods. They should be seen as both an economic (commercial) venture aimed at providing profit to their owners, creating jobs, contributing to economic development and improving living standards, but also as sociocultural institutions, important for the overall development of individuals and the whole community, in they work. In this article, I will try to determine the economic functions and socio-cultural functions that media enterprises have to implement.

W niniejszym artykule spróbuję określić funkcje gospodarcze i funkcje społeczno-kulturowe, jakie mają do zrealizowania przedsiębiorstwa medialne.

The problem of trust in the context of the media appears first of all in relation to the relation between the recipient and the sender, i.e. the relationship between the media enterprise and an important part of its external environment. At the same time, the validity of trust as an intangible asset, which is the value of an enterprise, is emphasized. We are speaking less about trust in the context of the internal environment of media organizations, its role and importance in building relationships between people who take part in the production of a media message in a direct or indirect way. Drawing attention to this issue by managers may both positively affect the culture of the organization and be an element of the company’s business strategy and contribute to their competitive advantage in the market. In this article I would like to draw attention to trust as an important good in the process of managing a media enterprise, emphasizing at the same time the subjective predispositions enabling its shaping in such an enterprise.

Ta ogólna zasada uznania godności człowieka zostaje skonkretyzowana w odniesieniu do różnych elementów działania organizacji. Przyjęcie chrześcijańskiej wizji godności człowieka może wnieść duży wkład w stosowanie etycznych zasad w działaniu różnych organizacji.

Activities of economic entities operating in the media system of a free-market democratic society are subject to numerous determinants associated with the complexity and multi-dimensionality of the system and the goals before them. The article suggests and describes the legal and organizational-economic circumstances constituted bythe political and economic systems which are part of the state system responsible for their creation. It simultaneously indicates the fact that too much dependence on the media creates the danger of losing their autonomy, which is necessary to fulfill their primary function of creating a space for the media and informing society.

Social responsibility of media enterprises – economic context. The economic goal of any open market enterprise, including a media enterprise, is to generate profit and add value to the enterprise. However, each enterprise operates in a specific social and cultural context, which requires taking into account the needs and expectations of the local community. These needs can be ranked in three areas: economic, social and environmental. The complexity of the system of economic and social goals causes that within it there are relationships between individual goals that may be neutral, complementary or contradictory. In his article, the author draws his research attention to emerging dilemmas in the economic field. These problems are analyzed in the light of the social responsibility of media companies.

The impact of digitization on our lives is constantly growing. Benefits resulting from automation, data analysis, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning are increasingly more visible in everyday life. However, they give rise to previously unknown ethical and social problems. Many of them have already been described in literature. A new concept of Corporate Digital Responsibility (CDR), drawing on Corporate Social Responsibility, aims at developing precise guidelines and good practices, which will influence responsible business activity in the digital world. The purpose of this article is to present the sole concept of CDR and to ground it in the context of the media, which constitute an important part of the economy relying on new technologies.
