The article draws attention to the problems associated with modeling of word formation system of the Polish language in the synchronous description. The author is primarily interested in the consequences of entanglement of the subject matter of word-formation between the two points of view - synchronic and diachronic, and connected with this fact difficulties in combination of formal and semantic plane in the description of derivatives and the gap between the research and lexical word-formation. Referring to I. Bobrowski who states that the language system and the language model are two different entities, the author presents the assumptions on which she proposes to build a model system of word formation, referring to the concept of A. Bogusławski.

This article focuses on the problems of the teaching of phonetics of a foreign language. The author, by combining glottodidactic and logopedic perspectives, draws attention to the challenges the teacher faces in connection with the organisation of the educational process based on the example of teaching Chinese speakers, for whom Polish is a typologically and geographically distant language. The author distinguishes two aspects of phonetics teaching-prognostic and diagnostic. As far as the former is concerned, taking into account two sources of pronunciation difficulties-biological, and that connected with a previously acquired phonetic-phonological system-she proves that, in phonodidactics, prognostic knowledge is indispensable as a basis for diagnosing possible problems in the phonological processing and articulation in students. With regard to the second, she analyses the determinants of difficulties in reaching the phonological competence of the Chinese by referring to the results of observations and a test conducted in a 26-person group of Chinese students. On this basis, she postulates that phonodidactic research, in its practical and theoretical dimensions, should combine glottodidactic and logopedic perspectives.

Tematyka artykułu skupia się wokół problemów nauczania fonetyki języka jako obcego. Autorka, łącząc perspektywę glottodydaktyczną i logopedyczną, zwraca uwagę na wyzwania stojące przed nauczycielem w związku z organizacją procesu kształcenia na przykładzie nauczania osób chińskojęzycznych, dla których polszczyzna jest językiem odległym typologicznie i geograficznie. Wyodrębnia dwa aspekty nauczania fonetyki – prognostyczny i diagnostyczny. W odniesieniu do pierwszego z nich, uwzględniając dwa źródła trudności wymowy: biologiczne i związane z wcześniej przyswojonym systemem fonetyczno-fonologicznym, dowodzi, że w fonodydaktyce niezbędna jest wiedza prognostyczna jako podstawa diagnozowania możliwych zakłóceń przetwarzania fonologicznego i artykulacji u uczniów. W odniesieniu do drugiego – analizuje czynniki determinujące trudności z docieraniem do kompetencji fonologicznej osób z pierwszym językiem chińskim poprzez odwołanie się do wyników obserwacji i testu przeprowadzonego w 26-osobowej grupie studentów chińskich. Na tej podstawie postuluje, by w badaniach fonodydaktycznych, w ich wymiarze praktycznym i teoretycznym, łączyć perspektywę glottodydaktyczną z logopedyczną.

Stylistic function of word-formation formants. An outlineIn the first part of the article, the functions of formants distinguished in the selected structural and post-structural classification of derivatives are presented. In connection with the description of the stylistic function of formal indices of the word-formation origin, the proposal made by S. Grabias (1981) and A. Nagórko (2003) is discussed in a more expanded aspect. The both authors raise the issue of the stylistic differentiation of word-formation means in the area of the pragmatic function of formants. Due to the fact that the establishment whether the formant is fulfilling the stylistic function, is connected, among others, with the knowledge about its stylistic value, the second part of the article draws up attention to the interpretation differences, which are frequent in the literature, which interpretation differences refer to the stylistic value of certain word-formation formants and word-formation types. The author makes an attempt to discover the reason for the said differences. At the end of the article, the methods, which may be used in the research of the stylistic properties of word-formation formants, are specified.

The article addresses the question of the Internet activity of anonymous amateur translators and fans’ translations of subtitles for series using the example of Korean dramas. The authors focus on analysing the genre of commentary in the audiovisual narrative – TV series. The authors put forward the thesis that the synthetic model of communication in the Internet stimulates communication activity, which affects the transformation of language patterns. Series commentary has been considered to be a new type of genre pattern functioning in the media. What is novel is the kind of cultural text within which a given commentary appears. It may be compared to a commentary which is an explanation, a supplement to the text it refers to. It may also be compared to a more recent pattern – the Internet commentary.

This paper discusses the orthographic standard of the modern Polish language as regards capitalisation. On selected examples, we point to the fact that the general nature of orthographic rules governing capitalisation makes them ignore numerous phenomena characteristic of the economic and legal sphere. The absence of an up-to-date and diverse sample material illustrating the individual rules, in turn, hampers making prescriptive decisions with regard to the spelling of specific expressions from the domain of the latest official Polish language. As a consequence, the mismatch between codification and usage increases, which is exemplifi ed in the analytical part of the paper. The conducted research leads to the conclusion that such standardisation of the spelling of specialist varieties of Polish as satisfi es the needs of its users is an urgent matter.

The paper addresses the issue of lexical creativity in the context of language communication. The subject of the discussion is modern Polish vocabulary as an element of the linguistic concretization of the media images of the world effected in Internet comments. The authors are of the opinion that, as a crucial component of the Internet discourse, lexical creativity is connected with the issue of esthetics on the one hand and the problem of morality set in the framework of the true or false image of the world presented in the media on the other. The analysis of the linguistic material derived from Internet comments on articles about politics is meant to demonstrate connections between the creative use of lexis and evaluation. The authors provide a typology of expressions displaying features of lexical creativity and describe the types of motivation behind the linguistic activity of the senders. They demonstrate how the senders use the language mechanisms that allow them to create ambiguous expressions in which the poetic and ludic functions are subjected to a negative evaluation of real events and do not affect the reception of these expressions in terms of esthetics.
