There were many studies on treatment and prophylaxis of PTSD. It was assumed that a need of talking about of the traumatic event has been a factor moderating relationship between exposure to traumatic event and PTSD symptoms development. Aim of the study was to test this assumption. The study was conducted on police officers according longitudinal procedure, it means that the study was performed in two stages with one year break. It was a possibility to make an analysis of obtained results as if it were two studies; cross-sectional and longitudinal ones. Each analysis let us draw opposing conclusions. Need of talking about traumatic event appeared to be a resistance factor in former one and a sensibilizing factor in letter one.

The article presents the results of the fifth bi-seasonal survey conducted in 2004- 2005 within the framework of the longitudinal study of the time use, everyday activity and living conditions of the rural population. The study is conducted on a sample group of villages representative of the south of Siberia in rather different historical periods. The emphasis is made on changes that have taken place in the rural everyday life and on the use of time during the last two decades; in particular, in the beginning of the new century. It presents the results of the analysis of the time budgets of working women and working men and their answers to questions concerning the facts of reality, their assessments and values. In the early 2000s the working time of men increased, while their time spent on private plot production and housework decreased. Similar situation was observed in the case of women; however, the time spent on household production increased. More pronounced changes were observed among agricultural workers, especially men (increasing working time and decreasing time of housework, sleep and leisure). On the whole, there was a noticeable redistribution of time between work in the house and household production and work in the agricultural enterprise being the source of the material well-being of the rural family. The male-female difference in the total work load and leisure time has decreased.

Previous research has shown that content and language integrated learning (CLIL), an educational approach that offers content courses through more than one educational language, increases metalinguistic awareness. This improved insight into language structures is supposed to extend beyond the linguistic domain. In the present study, the question whether pupils who learn in a CLIL environment outperform their traditionally schooled peers in mathematics is investigated. In total, 107 pupils entered the study. All participants were in the first year of secondary education at a school in Ostend, in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. Thirty-five pupils followed CLIL education in a foreign language (French) and 72 followed traditional education that was given in the native language (Dutch). All participants were tested using a mathematical test at the beginning of the year, after three months, and after ten months. The first measurement of the mathematical scores showed that the two groups did not differ. In accordance with our hypothesis, the CLIL group scored higher than the non-CLIL group after ten months. Surprisingly, an effect was also found after three months. To conclude, CLIL appears to have a positive impact on the mathematical performance of pupils even after a short period of time.

Adopting a longitudinal design, this study investigates the effects of foreign language anxiety on foreign language proficiency over time within English and Japanese learning contexts. It also explores the stability of anxiety in English and Japanese over time and the stability of anxiety across English and Japanese. Chinese university students (N=146), who were simultaneously learning Japanese and English, participated in this study. Data were collected twice over a 2-month interval, using the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale, the English Proficiency Scale, and the Japanese Proficiency Scale. Results showed that anxiety changes had a significantly negative, but weak, correlation with the development of overall proficiency and the proficiency in sub- skills such as reading or speaking, for both English and Japanese, suggesting the interference of anxiety with proficiency levels. Anxiety in Japanese tended to decrease significantly over time, but no significant change was found for English. Furthermore, no significant difference between anxiety in Japanese and English was found at either testing time.

In this paper the authors present an evaluation of the effectiveness of suspended prison sentences, as measured by the rate of reversion to crime in the period of probation. The study was designed so that the history of individual offenders could be traced within a large and representative research sample. The analysis begins with a presentation of quantitative data of the sample’s criminal history including that related to their suspended prison sentence. This is followed by conclusions and a summary of the empirical data. On the basis of the covariance analysis the authors conclude that suspended prison sentences have a moderate impact on the prevention of further offences by the criminal. The study was conducted by the Institute of Justice in Warsaw in 2012 using a data sample of 1894 criminal convictions. It is worth mentioning that within this study there was a maximum follow-up period of five years after the imposition of a suspended sentence. The survey also obtained initial data on the convicted criminals given the suspended sentence so it was possible to observe and assess their criminal activity even over several years. For this reason, the research may claim to be longitudinal.

Background and aim: The effect of socio-economic factors (living conditions) and parental smoking habits on development of facial morphology and body measurements was studied on a longitudinal Czech sample of 25 girls and 25 boys. Subjects and methods: A set of studied digitalized photographs taken from 0.5 to 18 years in intervals of 6 months originated in the Brno Longitudinal Study. Facial shape changes of sub-adult participants were described using a configuration of 27 landmarks and further studied by using methods of geometric morphometric and multivariate statistics. In order to localize growth-related shape changes within the face, the studied region was divided into upper, middle and lower facial units and analyzed separately. Results and conclusion: The results show that in the course of ontogenesis there is a strong correlation between facial shape change and body measurements, height included (r=0.10 and r=0.24 in boys and in girls, respectively). The pubertal spurt of the facial shape change rate was revealed at 10.5 years in girls and at 11.5 years in boys. The earlier onset of the pubertal rate increase in facial shape changes in boys was associated with records of poor living conditions. In addition, the mother’s smoking habits were linked to a noticeable facial shape change.

Introduction Several theories have emerged in recent years suggesting that neuroendocrinological alterations, mainly changes in cortisol, could be of importance with respect to the link between chronic stress and disease. This study investigated possible deviations in the diurnal cortisol profiles of patients with clinically diagnosed stress-related exhaustion (exhaustion disorder – ED) compared with healthy controls. Material and methods: Salivary cortisol samples taken at home in the morning directly after waking up, 30 min later, and in the evening were compared between ED patients (N = 122; 25% men) and healthy controls (N = 98; 44% men). Follow-up measurements were performed after 6 months (79 patients) and 12 months (68 patients) of the treatment. Results: There were no clear differences in diurnal salivary cortisol profiles between the patients and healthy controls. Moreover, salivary cortisol levels and diurnal profiles did not change significantly during the treatment in the patient group. There was some indication of a smaller cortisol awakening response in the male patients compared to the male controls, but the difference appeared to be mainly related to the antidepressant use. Conclusions: Diurnal salivary cortisol profiles, at least as measured in this study, give a rather poor reflection of the prolonged stress exposure experienced by patients with ED. Such basal salivary cortisol measurements do not seem suitable as biomarkers for stress-related conditions such as ED or burnout, or as an aid to assess the effects of prolonged stress load in a routine clinical practice.

Objective: There are two theories (by Horowitz and by Foa) which attempt at explaining the process of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) development by information dissonance. The purpose of the present study was to verify these theories via cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. Materials and Methods: The study based on a cross-sectional design was performed on a representative group of Polish firefighters. The study using a longitudinal protocol was conducted among police officers. The level of PTSD was assessed using the Questionnaire for PTSD Measurement (K-PTSD). The sense of coherence (SOC) was measured with the Polish adaptation of the Orientation to Life Questionnaire by A. Antonovsky. Results: In the cross-sectional study, the correlation coefficients between K-PTSD and SOC were –0.35 (p < 0.001) in the group of firefighters and –0.47 (p < 0.001) in that of police officers. In the longitudinal study, the relationship between SOC and PTSD symptoms appeared to be curvilinear and had the U-letter shape. Therefore, we used ANOVA for statistical analysis. Unfortunately, the F(2.31) = 1.900 and p > 0.05 indicated that the tendency we observed was not statistically significant. Conclusions: We would like to propose two possible explanations for the difference in the relationships between SOC and PTSD symptoms obtained in the studies employing the cross-sectional and the longitudinal protocols.

Longitudinal studies of aging concerning individuals with comparable lifestyle, diet, health profile, socioeconomic status, and income remain extraordinarily rare. The purposes of our ongoing project are as follows: (i) to collect extensive data on biological and medical aspects of aging in the Polish population, (ii) to determine factors affecting the rate and course of aging, (iii) to understand how aging unfolds as a dynamic and malleable process in ontogeny, and (iv) to find novel predictors of longevity. Our investigation followed 142 physically healthy asylum inmates, including 68 males and 74 females, for at least 25 years from the age of 45 years onward. Cross-sectional assessment involved 225 inmates, including 113 males and 112 females. All the patients lived for a very long time under similar and good environmental conditions at the hospital in Cibórz, Lubuskie Province. They maintained virtually the same daily schedule and lifestyle. The rate and direction of changes with age in selected anthropometric and physiological traits were determined using ANOVA, t-test, and regression analysis. There were sex differences in the rate and pattern of age-related changes in certain characteristics such as relative weight, red blood cell count, monocyte count, thymol turbidity value, systolic blood pressure, and body temperature. Body weight, the body mass index (BMI), and total bilirubin level increased with advancing age, while body height decreased with age in both sexes. In conclusion, the aging process was associated with many regressive alterations in biological traits in both sexes but the rate and pattern of these changes depended on biological factors such as age and sex. There were only few characteristics which did not change significantly during the period under study. On the basis of comparison between the pattern of longitudinal changes with aging and the pattern of cross-sectional changes with age in the analyzed traits, we were able to predict which pattern of changes is associated with longer lifespan.

Objectives. The research of personality correlates and predictors of generativity is largely based on five-factor model of personality. Less attention is paid to other personality models. One of another suitable models is Cloninger’s model of personality, which distinguishes temperament and character traits of personality. Sample and setting. Two aspects of generativity, concern (Loyola Generativity Scale) and action (Generative Behavior Checklist), were predicted in a group of middle-aged people (N = 83, 58% women, mean age 53 years) based on personality traits ten years earlier. Hypotheses. Authors assumed that generative concern and generative action would be predicted by the traits of harm avoidance, novelty seeking, and self-transcendence. Statistical analysis. Data was analyzed using the correlation and regression analysis with the use of bootstrapping. Results. Generative concern and generative action can be predicted on the basis of personality traits, but in the case of generative concern, none of the predictors showed a separate statistically significant effect. A significant predictor of generative action was the dimension of self-transcendence. The self-transcendence, defined as the concept of own participation in the world as a whole, is not included within the five-factor model, and the results thus suitably complement the existing knowledge of personality factors of generativity. Study limitation. The study has two limitations: first, the research was performed with a relatively small sample size, and second, both generativity and personality traits were assessed only once during the longitudinal study, at different age levels.

Cíle. Dosavadní výzkumy osobnostních korelátů a prediktorů generativity jsou převážně založeny na pětifaktorovém modelu osobnosti. Méně pozornosti je věnováno jiným osobnostním modelům. Jako další vhodný se jeví Cloningerův model osobnosti, který rozlišuje temperamentové a charakterové rysy osobnosti. Soubor. Dva aspekty generativity – zájem (Loyola Generativity Scale) a jednání (Generative Behavior Checklist) – byly predikovány u souboru osob ve střední dospělosti (N = 83, 58 % žen, průměrný věk 53 let) na základě osobnostních rysů zjišťovaných o deset let dříve. Hypotézy. Autoři předpokládali, že generativní zájem a generativní jednání budou předpovídány rysy vyhýbání se poškození, vyhledávání nového a sebepřesažení. Statistická analýza. Data byla analyzována postupy korelační a regresní analýzy s využitím bootstrappingu. Výsledky. Generativní zájem i generativní jednání mohou být predikovány na základě osobnostních rysů, nicméně v případě generativního zájmu ani jeden z prediktorů nevykazoval samostatný statisticky významný vliv. Signifikantním prediktorem generativního jednání byla dimenze sebepřesažení. Rys sebepřesažení definovaný jako představa o vlastní účasti ve světě jako celku nemá v rámci pětifaktorového modelu obdobu, výsledky tudíž vhodně doplňují dosavadní poznatky o osobnostních souvislostech generativity. Limitace. Studie má dvě limitace: za prvé, výzkum byl proveden s relativně nízkým počtem osob, za druhé, jak generativita, tak osobnostní rysy byly v průběhu longitudinální studie zjišťovány pouze jednou, na různých věkových stupních.

The recent implementation in the university of professionalizing Masters has meant a considerable increase in the interest of students towards the study of the different subjects in order to improve their expertise. While in some cases it is a prerequisite for access to public opposition, in many others, the Masters allows more extensive knowledge gained throughout university degree. This type of educational practices that the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) has introduced, i.e., the derivatives of education policies, is justified by the process of European convergence. From Brussels come new details and recommendations which the various member States should incorporate into their educational system, whether formal or non-formal education. To this end, this paper shows the results of a research carried out in the year 2009/2010 in the Teacher Training Masters for High School Teachers of the University of Zaragoza. The aim was to analyse how assessment processes were developing, with what procedures, techniques, types, etc., with the aim of introducing innovation processes leading to improved student learning. This longitudinal study is based on multiple cases whose statistically representative sample consists of 124 students and is developed with quantitative and qualitative methodology. Results of this research conclude that it is possible to introduce other types of evaluation techniques contributing to promote meaningful, collaborative, social and open learning.

Ostatnie zmiany wdrażane na uniwersytecie kształcącym nauczycieli spowodowały znaczący wzrost zainteresowania dodatkowym kształceniem na innych kierunkach w celu poszerzenia kompetencji. W niektórych przypadkach jest to spowodowane wymaganiami, a w innych tym, że tytuł magistra ułatwia dostęp do poszerzania wiedzy. Typ edukacyjnych praktyk, które wprowadziła EHEA (European Higher Education Area), jest uzasadniony procesem integracji europejskiej. Z Brukseli przesyłane są nowe szczegóły i rekomendacje, które państwa członkowskie powinny wprowadzić do swoich systemów edukacyjnych. Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań przeprowadzanych w latach 2009/2010 na Uniwersytecie w Saragossie. Celem badania była analiza tego, w jaki sposób rozwijał się proces oceny nauczania, jakie stosowano procedury i techniki. Badanie oparte jest na opiniach grupy 124 studentów i zawiera analizy jakościowe i ilościowe. Wyniki badań wskazują, że możliwe jest wprowadzenie innych typów technik oceny, aby przyczynić się do promocji zrozumiałego, otwartego nauczania opartego na współpracy.

Although normal aging does not have a pernicious effect on the homeostasis of fluids, renal reserve in elderly people can be depleted. The purpose of the present study was to assess the relationship between longitudinal changes with age in basic urine parameters (specific gravity and pH) in older men and women, depending on their body height and relative body weight. Longitudinal data on these two quantitative traits of the urine were available for 142 physically healthy individuals, including 68 men and 74 women. All subjects were 45 years of age at the beginning and 70 at the end of the period under investigation. All measurements were taken in accordance with internationally accepted requirements. Specific gravity was assessed using a hydrometer, and pH was measured using a pH meter. ANOVA, t-test, and regression analysis were performed. No significant sex differences in specific gravity or urine pH were observed. In both sexes, urine specific gravity decreased with age according to exponential model of regression. In men, there was a gradual increase in the pH of the urine until age 65, and the best fitting regression model was polynomial. In women, on the other hand, there was an exiguous decrease in urine pH throughout the period under study, and the best fitting regression model proved to be exponential. As the process of renal aging commences relatively early in ontogeny and manifests itself in many structural and functional changes, urinalysis and other more sophisticated methods of diagnosis of renal diseases are essential for proper assessment of health status of adults and older individuals. The rate of age-related changes in the analyzed traits of the urine was commensurate in both sexes, thereby revealing no evidence of significant sex differences in terms of renal aging in the period between 45 and 70 years of age.

W artykule podjęto pytanie o polityczną sprawczość światopoglądu ufundowanego na stosunku do religii i Kościoła katolickiego w Polsce. Odwołując się do empirycznych badań ukazano narastające znaczenie identyfikacji religijnych w procesach kształtowania się politycznych preferencji i wyborów. Główna uwaga skupiona została na preferencjach dotyczących kształtu narodowej wspólnoty i na zmianach, jakim one ulegały w okresie ostatnich trzydziestu lat – od schyłku PRL, przez okres intensywnych zmian systemowych w latach dziewięćdziesiątych do chwili obecnej. Podstawę źródłową stanowią dane gromadzone w trwającym 45 lat badaniu podłużnym, obejmującym dwie kohorty reprezentujące odmienne społeczne pokolenia i odmienny typ religijnej socjalizacji. Uzyskane wyniki ujawniają zmniejszające się – w obu pokoleniach – poparcie dla idei wspólnoty tradycyjnej, zamkniętej na rzecz wspólnoty kulturowo otwartej i nowoczesnej, o czym w największym stopniu zadecydowały zmiany indywidualnych profili religijności.

The article addresses the issue of the political agency of the worldview founded on the attitude towards religion and the Catholic Church in Poland. Empirical research has demonstrated the increasing importance of identification with religion in the processes of shaping political preferences and choices. The article focuses on the preferences regarding the national community and the changes that these preferences have undergone over the last thirty years – from the decline of socialism in 1980s, through the period of intense system changes in 1990s and until present. A 45-year longitudinal study involving two cohorts representing different social generations and a different type of religious socialization are the source of data. The research results reveal that the support for the idea of the national-religious community is diminishing in both generations, while a preference for a culturally open, modern community is increasing. The cause lies in the changes in individual religious profile.

Background. Previous research on the stability of personal values in the context of life transitions has usually focused on the presence of a single transition. However, life transitions in everyday life occur simultaneously with other life transitions. The aim of this longitudinal study was therefore to identify different trajectories of life transitions in young adults and to compare the stability of their personal values. Method. In the first wave of research, participants were 18-33 years old; in the second wave, they were 29-43 years old (N = 632; 392 women). In both waves, they completed Schwartzʼs Portrait Value Questionnaires (PVQ); in the second wave, they completed the Life History Calendar focusing on the presence of entry into life transitions. Results. Latent class analysis revealed two trajectories: Experienced transitions (people who experienced all observed transitions) and Partially experienced transitions (people who experienced only entry into regular employment and part of them entered cohabitation). Differential stability of personal values occurred in both trajectories. The differences in the stability of values found between the individual trajectories were insignificant, except for personal values universalism and tradition. Although before entry into life transitions, personal values were not significant predictors of belonging to a particular trajectory, after their experiencing people with the Experienced transitions trajectory more often reached lower levels of values associated with openness to change.

Dosavadní výzkum zabývající se stabilitou osobních hodnot v kontextu prožitých životních tranzic se obvykle soustředil na přítomnost jedi-né tranzice. Životní tranzice se však v běžném životě vyskytují zároveň s dalšími životními tranzicemi. Cílem této longitudinální studie byla proto identifikace různých trajektorií životních tranzic u mladých dospělých a srovnání stability jejich osobních hodnot. V první vlně výzkumu měli participanti 18–33 let; v druhé vlně měli 29–43 let (N = 632; 392 žen). V obou vlnách vyplnili Schwartzovy Dotazníky hodnotových portrétů (PVQ); v druhé vlně vyplnili Kalendář historie života zjišťující přítomnost životních tranzic. Analýza latentních tříd odhalila dvě trajektorie: Prožité tranzice (lidé, kteří prožili všechny sledované tranzice) a Částečně prožité tranzice (lidé, kteří prožili vstup do pravidelné-ho zaměstnání a část z nich kohabitaci). Dife-renciální stabilita osobních hodnot se objevila u obou trajektorií. Zjištěné rozdíly v stabilitě hodnot mezi jednotlivými trajektoriemi byly nevýznamné, vyjma osobních hodnot univerza-lismus a tradice. Ačkoli před prožitím životních tranzic nebyly osobní hodnoty významnými prediktory příslušnosti ke konkrétní trajektorii, po jejich prožití lidé s trajektorií Prožité tranzice dosahovali častěji nižší úrovně v hodnotách spo-jených s otevřeností změně.

Artykuł przedstawia wyniki podłużnego badania jakościowego młodych dorosłych mających różne plany związane z karierą i ścieżki przejścia. Głównym problemem poruszanym w badaniu jest znaczenie programów orientacji zawodowej w szkołach ogólnokształcących dla planów zawodowych i ścieżek przejścia młodzieży. Pierwsza część artykułu dotyczy organizacji i badań nad programami orientacji zawodowej. Drugą część rozpoczyna omówienie empirycznego projektu badań podłużnych. Dalsze rozważania dotyczą tego, w jaki sposób perspektywa metodologiczna badań rekonstrukcyjnych może zapewnić lepsze zrozumienie punktu widzenia ucznia. Wykorzystano wywiady narracyjne jako podstawę do zbadania, w jaki sposób konteksty socjalizacyjne są istotne i wzajemnie połączone. Poprzez głębsze zrozumienie perspektywy uczniów i roli różnych czynników socjalizacyjnych można uwypuklić znaczenie programów orientacji zawodowej w szkołach. Przedstawione wnioski mogą okazać się przydatne dla podniesienia jakości programów orientacji zawodowej w szkołach. Obecnie, istniejące programy są oderwane od codziennego życia uczniów i nie uwzględniają ich perspektywy.

This contribution presents results of a longitudinal qualitative study of young adults with different career plans and transition pathways. The central question of this study focuses on the relevance of vocational orientation programs at regular schools for young people’s career plans and transitions. The first part deals with the organization and research about vocational orientation programs. The second part begins by giving an insight into the empirical design of the longitudinal study. It then proceeds to discuss how the methodological perspective of reconstructive research can provide deeper understanding of student’s perspective. Narrative interviews are used as the basis to investigate how the socialization contexts are relevant and interconnected. Through the deeper understanding of student’s perspectives and the role of different socialization agents, it is possible to highlight the relevance of vocational orientation programs at schools. The findings could prove useful for improving vocational orientation programs at schools. Currently, such programs are disconnected from students’ everyday life and show little regard for their perspectives.

This article is the longitudinal study report. It discusses the development of language competence of bilingual children in preschool and early school years. The author analyzes the results of language competence tests in two bilingual schoolboys (the first measurement took place in 2014, the second one in 2016) proving the development of language competence in case of bilingual children depends on many factors (psychophysical, environmental, emotional etc.). The author also emphasizes that a proper measurement of this competence requires a specially designed tool as those used for diagnosis of monolingual children are not suitable for this purpose.

Celem artykułu jest pokazanie, jak na przestrzeni edukacji przedszkolnej i wczesnoszkolnej rozwinęła się kompetencja językowa dzieci dwujęzycznych. Autorka bada poziom kompetencji językowej dwóch uczniów u końca edukacji wczesnoszkolnej, analizując jednocześnie dane dotyczące ich sytuacji szkolnej. Zgromadzony materiał porównuje z wynikami testów przeprowadzonych kilka lat wcześniej. Uzyskane próbki mowy potwierdzają, że rozwój kompetencji językowej dziecka bilingwalnego jest uzależniony od wielu czynników (psychofizycznych, środowiskowych, emocjonalnych), a jej pomiar, umożliwiający jednocześnie wskazanie obszarów, w których konieczna jest dodatkowa stymulacja, wymaga specjalnie przygotowanego do tego celu narzędzia diagnostycznego.

Artykuł omawia wyzwania rekrutacji respondentów do retrospektywnego badania podłużnego grup rówieśniczych w kontekście upływającego czasu i mobilności przestrzennej. Opierając się na szerszym jakościowym badaniu w projekcie „Paczki przyjaciół i migracje” w artykule szczegółowo omówiony zostaje proces rekrutacji młodych respondentów w wieku 19–34 lata. Uczestnicy badania pochodzą z trzech miast powiatowych w Polsce i doświadczali migracji tak międzynarodowych, jak i wewnętrznych lub też byli powiązani z rówieśnikami, którzy wyjechali z ich lokalizacji pochodzenia. Respondenci proszeni byli o retrospektywne omówienie czasów swojej młodości/adolescencji, a także o przekazanie kontaktów do członków ich grupy rówieśniczej z okresu gdy mieli 15–19 lat. Na podstawie doświadczeń terenowych w artykule wyróżniono cztery modele rekrutacji grup rówieśniczych. Obok tych modeli wskazano także warianty oraz powody porażek rekrutacyjnych. Artykuł dostarcza praktycznej wiedzy o strategiach rekrutacji uczestników, szczególnie w kontekście budowania szeroko zakrojonego panelu rówieśniczego w ramach jakościowego badania podłużnego.

This paper discusses the challenges of researching peer groups through a multi-focal, temporal lens in a retrospective manner. Embedded in a broader “Peer Groups & Migration” Qualitative Longitudinal Study (QLS), the article focuses on recruiting young respondents (aged 19-34 at present) who originally come from one of the three medium-sized towns in Polish localities and are either migrants or stayers connected to mobile individuals. The respondents are tracked retrospectively and asked to discuss their adolescence, as well encouraged to provide contacts to their youth Peer Group members. Based on fieldwork experiences and field access challenges, four models of recruiting migrants’ high school peer groups are presented. Furthermore, variants and rationales of non-recruitment are also provided. Focusing on the process of establishing a long-term and large-scale peer panel in the QLS, the paper contributes detailed know-how and strategies around participant recruitment.

Zgodnie z klasycznym, rozwojowym, ujęciem tożsamości, zapoczątkowanym przez Marcię, istnieją dwa podstawowe procesy kształtowania tożsamości: poszukiwanie i zaangażowanie. Pierwszym krokiem na drodze do osiągnięcia dojrzałej tożsamości jest poszukiwanie. Celem prezentowanych badań była analiza dynamiki poszukiwania w okresie, kiedy się ono pojawia, czyli we wczesnej adolescencji. W badaniach podłużnych (z trzema pomiarami co pół roku) wzięło udział 327 dorastających w wieku od 11 do 15 lat (M = 13,26; SD = 1,20) – uczniów szkół podstawowych i gimnazjów. Grupa była zrównoważona pod względem płci (45% dziewcząt). Jako narzędzie pomiaru wykorzystano Kwestionariusz Wczesnego Poszukiwania Tożsamościowego (Early Identity Exploration Scale, EIES), który umożliwia pomiar poszukiwania tożsamości w dwunastu domenach: wygląd fizyczny, czas wolny, rodzina pochodzenia, praca, relacje chłopak–dziewczyna, formowanie własnego zdania, postrzeganie własnego miejsca w cyklu życia, autorefleksja, przyszłość, przyszła rodzina, światopogląd i stosunek do zasad. Analizę przeprowadzono w modelu latentnych krzywych rozwojowych. Okazało się, że w niektórych domenach nasilenie poszukiwania systematycznie wzrasta, mimo stosunkowo krótkiego czasu badania (wygląd fizyczny, praca, relacje chłopak–dziewczyna i światopogląd), przy czym jedynie w domenie relacje chłopak–dziewczyna nie stwierdzono interpersonalnego zróżnicowania nasilenia owego wzrostu. Okazało się również, że istnieje istotne zróżnicowanie interpersonalne w poziomie poszukiwania w punkcie wyjścia we wszystkich rozpatrywanych domenach.

In accordance with the classic – developmental – approach to identity originated by Marcia (1966), there are two basic identity formation processes: exploration and commitment. The first step on the way to mature identity is exploration. The aim of the present study was to analyze the dynamics of exploration in the period when it begins: in early adolescence. The participants in the longitudinal study (with three measurements at half-year intervals) were 327 adolescents aged 11 to 15 (M = 13.26, SD = 1.20) – elementary and middle school students. The sample was balanced in terms of gender (45% were girls). The instrument we used was the Early Identity Exploration Scale (EIES; Kłym & Cieciuch, 2015), enabling the measurement of identity exploration in 12 domains: physical appearance, free time, family of origin, work, boyfriend–girlfriend relationships, own opinion formation, perception of own place in the life cycle, self-reflection, future, future family, outlook on life, and attitude toward rules. The analysis was performed using a latent growth curve model. It turned out that in some domains (physical appearance, work, boyfriend–girlfriend relationships, and outlook on life) the level of exploration systematically increased, despite the relatively short time of the study; the domain of boyfriend–girlfriend relationships was the only one in which we found no interpersonal differentiation in the intensity of this increase. It also turned out that there was interpersonal differentiation in the level of exploration at the outset in all the domains analyzed.
